10k miles maintenance confusion

My 2016 C300 completed 1yr today but it has just been driven 5k miles and the service is recommended at 10k miles, my car shows service reminders.

Is service necessary in my case?

Your service reminder tracks both distance and time. The factory says that what the display says overrides what the booklet says.

So you're ready for a service.

Unless you are a DIY type of person, it can't hurt to get your car in for service, at least annually. Some items need to be serviced on a time basis, rather than mileage (brake fluid, for instance)

I will be in the same boat. I've had my leased Jetta now for over 6 months, but I have less than 3000 miles on it.

I plan to get the annual service done in August, regardless of miles.
