Hey hpowders. VW Credit's October buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36-month lease of a 2011 GTI Autobahn with 10,000 miles per year are .00124 and 50%, respectively for consumers who qualify for its top credit tier.

When negotiating your deal on this car, make sure to take the $1,250 cash incentive that Volkswagen is currently providing on leases of it into account.

    Hi Car_Man,

If the numbers are available already, what is the November 2011 MF and residual for a 2012 GTI 4-door Autobahn DSG for 24 months/10k miles per year?

If they have not yet been released, do you know how many days into a month it takes VW to release them?

Finally, are you familiar with how sign-then-drive works? VW pays the first month and I put $0 down for cap cost, but I still owe them the acquisition fee, doc fee, and tax/title/license?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me if I got a good deal or not on my lease?

    2012 Base w/ Auto DSG 1000.00 down w/ 320.84 for 36 months on A credit rating.

After reading the lease contract and noticing they move things all around but still kept my monthly the same I'm not sure if I got a good deal or if there was more negotiating room.

My overall month ended up at 335.00 after I added the the lease excess wear protection waiver.

Gross Cap cost = 25144.00 (includes excess wear n tear, and 625 acq fee)
    Cat cost reduction = 616.47
    Adj cap = 24527.53
    Residual value = 14817.15
    Depreciation = 9710.38
    Rent Charge = 1487.06
    Total Base Payments = 11197.44

    Term 36 311.04 + tax 24.11 = 335.15

What do you think??? I think I can tricked on one thing. With my 1000.00 down they used a 335.15 paid by vw as a promotion this month I think. This must have helped pad their commision. I was lost in the payments trap. i got the payment I wanted and the down I wanted and that was it. Give me your thoughts

    Car Man,

    It's that time again...

I need Nov mf/residual numbers for a 2012 GTI 4 dr. gas automatic with convenience/sunroof

    -NY
    -36 months
    -10K miles per

I've been given .000205 for 36 months but I think they're padding it a bit.

    Thanks,

    Bodid

VW has posted a 36 month/36k mile GTI lease deal for November on their site but don't give the most important numbers, of course.

On the given example of a base manual, it looks like the residual is 58% and the stated payment is $339 before taxes/fees.

They also say something about it including a $400 dealer contribution. How does that factor in?

And what would the money factor be?

I am looking for a 2012 GTI w/Convenience/Sunroof Pkg. though, not the Base.

    I also need 15k miles/yr.

    Thanks!

Hi tennberg. Volkswagen Credit's November buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 24-month lease of a 2012 GTI 4-Door Autobahn with 10,000 miles per year are .00105 and 62%, respectively for consumers who qualify for its top credit tier.

I know that Volkswagen is waiving the first month's payment and security deposit for leases through its Sign-Then-Drive program. I'm not sure about the acquisition fee, but I suspect that lessees still have to pay it, or at least roll it into their vehicle's capitalized cost to bake it into their monthly payment. The same definitely would go for the doc fee, and TTL.

The "$400 dealer contribution" means that the dealer has to discount the vehicle $400 to arrive at the advertised payment. Savvy consumers who live in an area that has a decent level of competition should be able to negotiate a larger dealer discount than that.

VW Credit's lease money factor for this car is .00105. The 36-month, 15k residual value for this car is 53%.

    Hey Car_man,
Just got this quote for a 2012 4 door DSG w/ Convenience and Sunroof, can you tell me if this is a good deal or if I should try to negotiate a bit?

    MSRP $28,845
$265.86 monthly payments w/ tax included (New Jersey), $5,000 cap cost reduction
    36 months, 12k miles/year

Hey Car_man! Looking for the same information as generalgreens, a 2012 4 door DSG w/ Convenience and Sunroof, 36mo / 12k.

    Thanks so much!
  • CarMan@EdmundsCarMan@Edmunds Member Posts: 38,514
Hi generalgreens. I see that you are considering making a $5,000 capitalized cost reduction on this car. I always advise consumers not to make any sort of cap cost reduction when leasing. Lessees who make one risk losing part or all of the money that they put down if their vehicle is totaled in an accident or stolen and never recovered. Even though it means that your monthly payment will be a little higher, it is much safer to go with a zero down lease.

It would be much easier for me to evaluate this deal if you were able to provide me with this car's selling price. The selling prices of leased vehicles are negotiable, just as if you were paying cash for or financing them. Without this number, it is more difficult to tell how large a dealer discount you are being given and in turn if there is any room left to negotiate. Let me know what this number is and I'll tell you what I think.

I was wondering if I could get the rates for a 2012 4 door DSG w/Autobahn for 36mo/12k miles, or would it be the same as you quoted for innovator1?

Also my location is California if that makes a difference.

Hi, Car_man. I'm in Dallas, TX, looking for the latest money factor and residual for a 2012 4-door GTI with DSG and Autobahn at 12K miles/yr for 36 months. Thanks for your help.
  • spaederspaeder Member Posts: 2
    Quick follow up...

A local dealer quoted current VW Credit numbers for a 2012 GTI 4-door DSG Autobahn: 0.00105 money factor, 54% residual for 36 mo, 12K miles /yr.

Sales tax here is 6.25% and they'll pay most of it (5%), leaving me with an effective sales tax rate of 1.25 percent. They'll add a lease acquisition fee of $650 but make my first payment, leaving me responsible for the remaining 35 months. Sounds reasonable.

Haven't seen any January numbers yet. Would you mind sharing the current money factor and residual for the following leases?

    36m 10k 2012 GTI 4dr DSG Base
    36m 10k 2012 GTI 4dr DSG Autobahn

Manically trying to decide between the two and the numbers will settle it.

    Hi Car_Man

first of all, thank you all for this great thread!

I want to lease a 2012 4-door GTI with DSG and convenience package. I will need the 36-month 12k/year lease and will put 2500 down here in Washington State.

The dealer quoted me $375 plus tax which seems quite high. What is a realistic lease rate what what are money factor and residual?

    Thanks again,
    Germaneer

I certainly have Rasky. Volkswagen Credit's February buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36-month lease of a 2012 Golf R with 15,000 miles per year are .00167 and 54%, respectively for consumers who qualify for its top credit tier. This is VW Credit's standard lease program for this model. Not surprisingly, there is no support on the R yet.

    Hi Car_man,

I'm looking to get a 2-door 2012 GTI with Autobahn package and manual transmission. I just came back from a dealer who gave me a 53% residual value and a 0.00052 money factor on a 12k miles, 36-month lease. The numbers seem low for the residual value and high for the money factor.

Could you please help me with what's VW's money factor and residual value for this vehicle?

Also, are the residual values/money factors different for an automatic or 4 door?

Thank you very much for your help.

    Hi Car Man,

I see that there is a national deal on leasing now for a GTI Base 4dr: $1999, 12k miles, $279 per month payment. I am trying to understand what the real costs will be. I see money factor of .00052 and residual of 56%. Am I missing anything? What should I expect my actual payment will be when tax etc is added. Sorry for the newbie question, I never have leased a car before.

Hi benfidar. Since you are new to leasing, you definitely should check out the following informative articles on the subject that are available here at Edmunds.com: 10 Steps to Leasing a New Car and Calculate Your Own Lease Payment.

In short, the easiest way to get a good deal on a leased vehicle is to shop around for the lowest possible selling price and then have the dealer that you decide to go with calculate your vehicle's monthly payment using its buy rate lease money factor.

Volkswagen Credit's March buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36-month lease of a base 2012 GTI with 12,000 miles per year are .00034 and 55%, respectively for consumers who qualify for its "A" credit tier.

I would suspect that a savvy consumer who is in an area that has a decent level of competition would be able to negotiate a lower selling price, and in turn pre-tax payment than the one that was used to arrive at Volkswagen's official advertised deal.

It's difficult for me to say how much sales tax will add to the payment because the rates and methods for calculating it vary from area to area.
