fyi- dealers in NYC are offering $399 a month with $4000 total cash due at signing for a $45K 3.2 ALL wheel drive.
$399 a month for a $35K FWD with $3419 down is too much. pay the same thing and get the better options (premium package, convenience package, versatility, all wheel drive)
I live in San Diego, CA. Can anyone tell me what a good deal is on a XC90 V6 FWD with DVD player (2 screens), 3rd row seats, and navigation? I don't know the packages I want but would like it very nicely loaded. I've read it's best to put the minimum down payment. The current special in my area is $399 per month, 10,000 miles, with around $3,000 down for the V6 base model. Could I negotiate lower than that?
i may be signing a lease this weekend but i'm not sure if i'm getting the best rate. i have asked the salesperson to fax me to agreement prior to meeting with him so i can review at home. I have requested XC90 3.2 6cfwd basic white entertainment package premium package
with the lease option of 10,000 miles, 36 months and $3k down at signing. I am being quoted $591/mo. I was told w/o premium package it would be $471/mo but also told it was almost impossible to find a 5 seater with rear entertainment w/o leather. I have now agreed to leather and told that it may take a month to find a 5 seater with premium and entertainment package b/c most are built for 7 seaters. He then told my husband that the only thing on the lot was the 5 seater with all of the packages resulting in a large increase of my payment. My husband almost agreed to it. Of course he said I had to lock in my rate before the end of the month b/c he could not guarantee the quoted prices after then but I also realize that he would like to secure his commissions prior to then too.
Can you please tell me if this all sounds good or not. I need to move forward this weekend. Is it really this hard? Why do the advertisments make it look so easY? I am shopping from jackson, miss
I've beem quoted $399 per month plus tax, 2 year lease, 10,500 miles, with a downpayment of $4228 on a 2007 XC90 V6 with premium and versatility package. MSRP is around $42,000. Does anyone know if this is a good deal? I haven't negotiated with the dealer yet. Would like to know if anyone has got any cheaper than this so I have an idea of how much to negotiated off. I live in San Diego, California.
Just got back from the Volvo dealer in Northern California, here's the deal: - 3.2, AWD, Premium, Versatility, Climate, Metallic Paint MSRP: $45,075 Initial Cap Cost: $41,934 Residual: 65% or $29,298.75 15k mi/year, 24 months Zero Cap Cost Reduction Zero Security Deposit (Returning Volvo Customer, currently have XC70 coming off-lease in several days) Money Factor: .00087 Monthly Use Tax in California: 8.25% Base Monthly Payment: $588.44 Monthly Use Tax: $48.55 Total Monthly Payment: $636.99 Acquisition Fee: $595 License Fee: $328 Calif Tire Fee: $8.75 Total Drive-Off: $1,568.74
Have the following Q's: 1) According to Edmunds, I came up with MSRP and Invoice of $45,097 and $41,828 respectively. Not sure how to reconcile with the dealer's numbers, since his implied invoice would be $41,534 (Init Cap Cost - $500). Any explanation for the difference? 2) What incentives are available for leases under VFNA? The dealer told me this Init Cap Cost is $500 over invoice, and when I raised the $2000 marketing support from Volvo he said that wasnt up for discussion. Is this true, or can this incentive be shared with customers? 3) Also, are $1000 Loyalty cash back to Customer and $400 Loyalty Volvo finance cash rebate available for leases? Again, he told me this money wasn't available under current lease program, sounds fishy to me. 4) Are there better deals available for this car in California? $637/mo seems pretty high, especially given the deals I've seen on this board from 4Q06. What terms can I improve on? MF and RVs look reasonable, cap cost appears to be the most obvious one, but he wouldnt move on that today, insisted it was really just $500 over for him and that factory incentives didnt apply to this car.
Will be checking around tomorrow and with your help hopefully closing this deal. Thanks!
The invoice on the car is $42,036. The Volvo money you are referring to cannot be used w/ a VFNA lease. You might be able to do better if took the incentives and went 36 or 48 mos w/ a bank lease. However, the dealer is giving you an excellent deal on the 24 mo program.
I don't get into quoting lease rates from banks. 1 I'm not in your region, so I don't know if there are any differences. Some lenders don't go into every market. 2 Some dealers do mark up the lease rates. I'm not going to step on someone elses deal. You asked if the deal you were getting was fair, and it is. If you are in finance, then you know that some rate mark up is customary no matter how transparent the process is. The lease contract discloses the RV, and all the fees. If you want the cheapest payment on that car, then 48 mos and 12k/yr will do it.
Nice one Volvomax. I'm not asking you if its fair, I'm asking for the numbers so I can understand the economics and decide myself what I think is a fair price to pay. If you don't want to provide the info, then don't respond to my post. Don't hijack my thread from getting the info I'm looking for.
Besides, why on earth would anyone care what YOU thought was a fair price, when you're a DEALER???? You're part of the problematic business practices by dealers that enrages consumers to create forums like this.
Everyone needs to make a living, but I'm looking to avoid getting scalped like many of the people on this board which you've conveniently NOT pointed out.
We're here to exchange information, create transparency and level the playing field, and you're a wolf in sheep's clothing pretending to "help" consumers but really just creating more "smoke and mirrors" and mis-direction with your "help".
I don't see anything wrong Volvomax's response. I have practically the same XC90 (equipped) and terms as you and on the surface I think the main reason you have a $600+/month lease is due to the RV. I leased mine early in the '07 model year and the RV for mine was 72% compared to your 65%. That's probably the main difference.
perhaps part of the problem is people like you who think they are going to get ripped off even if the dealer gave you the car for free...
volvomax has been here a lot longer than you, and has provided great information and helped countless of people here on edmunds. why don't you calm down a bit and don't hijack everyone else's thread...you don't own it...
dude, you need to back off and take a chill pill...
every business makes a profit, all the head honchos have boatloads of money and feed their family off the money they make from consumers...
why don't you offer your financial services for free? i don't want you to feed your family off of my dollar...i could find all that information online for free anyways...
Oh brother. Do you really want to go there? Because most bankers and "financial" people I know have more money than most car dealers. I'm sure you didn't finance any auto dealers at your cost of money did you? Of course not. Yet, where can a person go to keep the likes of you honest? What a mook you are.
Finamlly, there is no $2250 "mfg support" There IS $2000 BUT IT CANNOT BE USED WITH THE FACTORY LEASE WHICH IS WHAT YOU WERE QUOTED. Sad
you are WAY too nice. the fact that you are still offering useful information is to be commended. I certainly wouldn't if I were in your shoes (or at your keyboard, as it were).

Yeah, I really shouldn't let it bother me. It just cracks me up when people point fingers at the car business and conveniently ignore the profit and policies in their own industries.
Can you please tell me how this offer looks to you. I asked for a quote on a 2007 XC90 with just the Premium Package (5 seater) MSRP of $39,825 on their website, on a 48 month lease, 12K miles per year and just inception down. From the e-mail I got it seems like they are going through an outside bank. I tried backing into their number and it seems like the residual is pretty low at 37% and the interest rate is at 4.5%. Total down due at signing is quoted at $730.20 (first month, Title, Registration, and other Fees). The difference between the "Agreed Value" and what they are using for the Cap Cost is $499 Doc fee and $595 Acq Fee. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!
Agreed Value: 32,200.00 Gross Capital Cost 33,294.00 Adjusted Capital Cost 33,294.00 Residual 14,527.80 Depreciation Charge 18,766.20 Rent Charge 4,315.08 Total of base MP 23,081.28 Lease Term 48 Base MP 480.86 Monthly Tax 28.85
Can you please give me your overall opinion on the deal being offered? Also, do you anticipate Volvo coming out with more lease support for the XC90 in March?
I just picked up my 2007 xc90 AWD yesterday. It has the premium package, versatility package, climate package, & metallic paint.
MSRP $45,000.00 Gross Cap Cost $37,409.00 Adjusted Cap Cost $36,813.47 Residual $21,185.25 Depreciation $15,628.22 Rent Charge $4636.96 Total of base MP $20,265.18 Lease Term 39 mos Monthly Payment $519.62 Total out of pocket cost $1895.00 which includes 1st month payment and all fees
Now I am more confused than before. In order to try and cut down the monthly payment I asked for a quote on a base XC90 (No Premium) 5 seater with an MSRP on their website of $36,030. This is what i got:
Option 'B' - Base Lease Payments Down Payment Term $0 $1,000.00 $2,000.00 36 MO $533.61 $501.46 $469.29 42 MO $515.85 $487.95 $460.06 48 MO $481.75 $457.33 $432.91
He states that these figures include monthly sales tax but that the "Down Payment" figures quoted above would be PLUS First months payment, Tax and Tag.
How does this deal compare with the original one posted earlier? (Not looking for specifics, just better worse or alot worse)
Should I go back and ask him the standard "Please provide the cap caost, residual, and money factor" as to how he arrived at these payments. Also, what does he mean when he states that in addition to the first month and tag I have to pay the tax?
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
The monthly payment includes sales tax. I also included the check they cut me for my remaining lease payments on my current car, which was $690.00. I subtracted from the out of pocket cost. The dealer is located in NY. When we went in to sign the papers the lease agreement was typed up as a 24 month lease (accidentally??) it was a good thing we noticed they had to go and retype it. They fixed it and tried to tell us the first payment wasn't included. When I made the deal with the salesperson it was included. I put my coat on to walk out and they changed their minds.
Last question. I got a quote from a different dealer today on a base XC90. 51 months, 11,294 miles per year, $389 a month plus tax, with Zero down, sign and drive.
Lease too long, miles too low. W/ tax you are in low $400's still.
Don't be overly fixated on the lowest payment. First, settle on the term. How long do you want to drive the car for? Next, settle on the miles per year. How many do you need? Next, find THE car that you WANT. Base car? 7 passenger? Once that is done, then go to work on the lease #'s, otherwise you will just confuse yourself.
I'm confused, can someone help me understand the total lease incentives? Seen lots of different numbers, would appreciate some clarification on which are available on a Volvo lease:
1) Prem pkg for $295 (instead of $2575 invoice) 2) Volvo loyalty customer cash $1000 3) VFNA Lease Bonus cash $1000 4) Marketing Support $2000 5) $4500 alternative lease support
Cherity - wow, that sounds like a great deal, how did you get the Gross Cap Cost down to $37,409? According to Edmunds the invoice price is $42,036, so that's $4600 BELOW invoice???!!! What am I missing? Did they tell you what the money factor is?
BTW, what's the difference between "Gross Cap Cost" and "Adjusted Cap Cost"?
Which city, state dealer did you lease from?
Can you provide a breakdown of the $1895 total out of pocket cost?
This is really confusing, apprecitae your help. Thanks!
Your numbers are correct, except for the first one. There is no price break on the Prem pkg for US cars. That offer is only good on the OSD cars, and they don't get the other incentives.
I told them what I would pay for the car and I only wanted to know what the bottom line price was. I didn't even negotiate the cost of the car or any thing else. I actually don't even know the money factor. I have leased other cars before and I knew I had a good deal on my last vehicle and wanted the same terms. I knew I paid approximately $12.25 per thousand of the car MSRP price. That is what I went by (the 12.25 includes payment, tax and all fees for a 15,000 mile 39 month lease) The salesperson said they were losing money on the car. I don't know if I believe that.
Do these apply only to AWD models, or do they apply to the base FWD model as well. If so, I am not asking to comment on a particular deal, but on a hypothetical.
If I wanted to lease a base XC90 with an MSRP of $36,830 and an invoice price of $35,097, after I apply the $7,500 worth of incentives (Loyalty, marketing support, and alternative lease) I could in theory get this truck for $27,597 (invoice less incentives) as the cap cost by going through an outside bank?
Also, where does one find the marketing support ($2,000) and alternative lease ($4,500) figures so if I ask at the dealer and they say they never heard of it or they do not exist, I can show them a printout.
Sorry for all the questions, but you have been a great help so far. Thanks!!!!!

i think you can do a bit better
go online and search for ramsey volvo in new jersey- you will see they lease the car for $399 for 39 months with an msrp of $46K for 12K miles
also check montclair NJ's volvo- they are 399 for 24 with a 44K msrp
Most XC90's are 7 seaters, esp if they have the DVD player.
The cars are built for how the majority of people want them.
If you want something different, of course it will be difficult.

What total incentives are available for this car to use with an outside bank for lease?
What bank lease terms are you seeing available for this car in Northern Calif?
The $3000 you are referring to can be used on a bank lease.
Money factors vary by credit score, the range is from .00220 to .00330 for the most part.
1) $4500 Alternative Lease Assistance
2) $1000 Loyalty
3) $2250 Marketing Support
Yesterday the dealer said the total incentives were $9000 for the XC70 and $7750 for the XC90, which is consistent with the numbers I've seen here.
I work in finance, so complete transparency would be very helpful. Thanks.
1 I'm not in your region, so I don't know if there are any differences. Some lenders don't go into every market.

Where did you get these figures from? I looked up the "Incetives and Rebates" on this website for Volvos and did not see the $4,500 or $2,250 figures.
Thanks

Your payment may go up due to a 1 point change in residuals.
Your deal is fair, the dealership is making a little, but they aren't ripping you off.
