In recent memory (post internet) I can't recall vehicles softening so much as in today's market. Infiniti M, Civic, now the IS??? Are buyers waiting for special interest rates or huge discounts???

In today's USA today, Jesse Toprak (Edmunds employee) was quoted as saying customers are burned over gas prices. Months ago on the M35/M45 (not a compact sport) board, I posted gas mileage as an issue to sales. These compact sport sedans don't fair much better then SUVs, I often think most people do stretch for the monthly note on a car that's just out of their price range.

Anyone have Novembers numbers for vehicle sales? regardless of market niche (SUV, sport sedan, etc.) auto sales are not looking good going into the winter.

Huper Optik tint ? , Park Place had at least 5 last week when I test drove. Funny they have one of the highest markups of any vehicle. I saw the base model has about a 4k markup..yikes Id need clubs, balls, golf cart..... :)

M35...yes, I believe mileage is a concern....it should be at least 3-4pg better than it is, with real world reports mostly around 18 mpg.

M45...No...Real World mixed MPG of ~18 is good for the performance and size of the vehicle.

Yes, real world reports have the 35 and 45 about the same...which is also what I experienced with my FX35 versus others FX45.

Just got the IS 250 Auto, prem pkg, 18's, today and loving it.

    MSRP 33,954

Got it for 32,225 with 5k down. OTD price ~35,500.
  • kdeal213kdeal213 Member Posts: 1
Is the $32,225 including the Destination charge?

    Thanks
  • sdiver68sdiver68 Member Posts: 125
By December to Remember my goal of $2K from invoice ought to be met, maybe even $1500. Now, with a MF at .00165 or below and keeping the 3 yr/45K residual at 63%...then my fiance can really have a Dec to Rem!
  • anijhawanijhaw Member Posts: 24
Are you speculating on a money factor of 0.00165 or has this been offered to you? My understanding that the base rate for an IS is 0.00275 (with a solid credit rating).
  • moira44moira44 Member Posts: 3
    Yes including destination charge.
  • varokvarok Member Posts: 3

IS 350 Premium plus w/out NAV, 18", Crystal white

I'm looking into buying one of these bad boys...(I was going to buy a Acura TL) and went over to some dealership and the guy told me they can not negotiate prices cause it's too new of a car?? is this true

    thanks
and if so how much more are we supppose to buy it for compare to the invoice?
  • laurieslauries Member Posts: 8
I'm curious where you are to get $2K off. MSRP in Houston is $36,944 with 18" and "additional options" (cargo net etc). Other packages have not been allocated to this area. No cars on the lot at any of the 3 dealerships I have visited. Have had window tint and hand painted pin stripe thrown in...but still at the MSRP.
  • varokvarok Member Posts: 3
I live in So. California and most dealers still have a lot of these cars sitting on their lot. Pretty much you have to be ready to buy it then and there when you make the offer. The more you do the heming and hawing, the less likely they'll make a good deal.

I am considering IS 250 RWD. The dealer is offering it for $32,800 with premium package. Is this a reasonable price?

RWD doesn't come with a Memory seats/mirrors system. How useful is the memory feature? Is it really useful? I am thinking whether I should consider other options BMW 325i that offer the memory feature? I cannot justify the cost of IS 250 AWD with memory.
  • 307web307web Member Posts: 1,033
How difficult has your daily life been without memory seats?
Do you share the car with another driver? You should be able to answer your own question.

Looking to buy the IS 250 AWD. Have test driven it a few times and been impressed. Any thoughts?
  • stevobstevob Member Posts: 1
I'm ready to buy but am wondering if there is a strong opinion either way on these cars. I will want the navigation/prem,pkg for sure. If anyone has a price OTD for either that would be great info to have. I have Also been looking at the acura 2006 TL and was impressed with the nav. Will the IS be disappointment? :) Any feedback on this would be helpful.
  • suave_tequilasuave_tequila Member Posts: 116
Well both cars are wonderful cars since I am ready to purchase the IS 350 with Nav/ML and with the pre-collision. I got it for 47K but I was actually able to get it down to 39K believe it or not! But I told the saleman that I'll think about it! Ooh and I say TL is wonderful!! since my older sister is buying her TL the day im buying my IS which might be during Thanksgiving Day! Which we'll be sharing our cars (lucky us) ooh but its all depends to you. Yes the TL is more roomier than the IS. The one thing I wish the IS had taken from the TL was the Blue illuminate light that shines on the console which I thought it was cool. But I would say buy a fully loaded 250 for 40K and try to get it down a couple of k's! Ooh and people are saying that they arent able to get the MSRP down but its b.s. since I clearly got a good price! Ooh one thing reconsider on getting the 2006 TL since hp is slower than the 2005 TL. hope it helps!! ooh and my sis was able to get her 2005 TL fully loaded as well for 31 or 30K i think!! Good Luck!!! :)
  • apg3apg3 Member Posts: 7
I'm being offered list price of 37.6K. That is with Nav, but not the rest of the premium package. I think the interior is absolutely gorgeous; best in its class in my judgment. I'm a little concerned with the power on the 250 AWD, but it is a solid car at a good price. Anyone else have thoughts?

Also, with respect to the Acura TL, I test drove it a couple of times. Clearly a terrific car. Good power. Best Nav available. It is still not as plus in the interior as the Lexus. However, you can probably get it for 2K less.
  • jcollum68jcollum68 Member Posts: 14
Actually, 2006 TL horsepower is down only because they are measuring it on a stricter hp scale...same engine, same power, just giving it the "true" horsepower rating. It would be as quick (or slow) as the 2005.
  • rahulguprahulgup Member Posts: 5
I loved the IS 250. Its more smooth than the BMW 325i. The only concern I have is its back seat room. Its very compact.

So I am debating whether I should go in for a family sedan kind or IS. what is the resale for IS. It should be pretty good?
  • apg3apg3 Member Posts: 7
I have to think the resale on the 2006 IS will be solid. I'm purely speculating, but I think because the 2006 model is so different than 2005, there will be a substantial increase in resale between the 2005 and 2006.

Any thoughts on the IS 250 AWD's power?

I don't know how you managed to get such a good discount on your IS350. I am looking for one with luxuary package and navigation. I talked to 2-3 dealers. Most of them are not giving any discount. Only one of them is giving me 1000 dollars off. I was aking for 2000 dollars off on MSRP. They are not ready. How did you manage to get this steep discount. please let me know. I will try it. I am ready to buy the car right now but I am not getting any godd deal. Thanks.
  • sam_ksam_k Member Posts: 243
suave_teqila, could you share which dealership was willing to give you a loaded IS350 for $39K. I'm very interested in getting the same thing but everyone is saying that dealers won't budge much from sticker price.
  • wisebuyerwisebuyer Member Posts: 2
    varok,
Please share which dealership did you get it from?
I have not been able to get 2000 off the MSRP price.
    Please share.

I bought mine at Lexus of Glendale. Good luck.
  • gatsbigatsbi Member Posts: 9
Was thinking of buying civic full options.

    But can't pass this deal...
Finally found and got quote for a rare IS250 Silver Manual for $30794

    No options except
    - Prefered Accessory Package (Mats, locks)
    - 18 inch wheel...

Should I go for it or Should I wait...?
  • harrybush00harrybush00 Member Posts: 76
Wow that's quite a step up from a civic. Anywho, have you seen the invoice price on an IS250 manual? Edmunds says the dealers get these for less than 27000. That's 3 grand going just to the dealers! When the initial hype clears by middle of '06, I'm almost sure you could get one for $28-29K. Just food for thought.
  • rdrunner4rdrunner4 Member Posts: 4
heads up you should be able to get around 500 off MSRP atleast on 250 or 350. On the ones without nav it is possible to get more. Also going through Costco will net you the few hundred off. This is in california.. don't know about other states
  • suave_tequilasuave_tequila Member Posts: 116
What do you mean going through Costco?(Explain) And where in Cali do you live?
  • gatsbigatsbi Member Posts: 9
My price is about $1000 off the MSRP..
But dealer gets it for less than $2700?
Wow...Wish my relative works at Lexus or something...
    Guess I'll wait...
  • lexusoracuralexusoracura Member Posts: 13
    Costco???
  • lbailylbaily Member Posts: 25
Costco is a chain of warehouse stores that are located throughout the USA. It costs $45 a year to be a member. They have a car buying program (discount) that is apparently pretty good. They have lots of locations in CA. There is more info on the http://www.costco.com/ website at http://www.costcoauto.com/index.asp?. I hope this helps. You can buy tires there too.
  • harrybush00harrybush00 Member Posts: 76
Yeah, wouldn't that be nice to get the hookups. Yeah, at least according to Edmunds listing of the invoice, the base price is less than $27000, but maybe with destination, it's a shade over the 27K mark. Regardless, I think the dealers are going to ride the wave of excitement of a new model til it fizzles in a few months. Good luck with your shopping.
  • rdrunner4rdrunner4 Member Posts: 4
as answered that costco has an auto buying program. I live in northern california. But I'm pretty sure in southern California you can get the same.
  • qt_104qt_104 Member Posts: 1
I talked to the Costco contact at Lexus in the Bay Area (Stevens Creek in San Jose) and he was not helpful. He said he can give me a $100 discount. What other dealerships are giving the costco discount?
  • rdrunner4rdrunner4 Member Posts: 4
    Try Putnum?

I don't want to sound mean at all but suave_tequila is only 17 years old and a salesman would most likely be playing with him by telling him 39K for a brand new IS that stickers for 47K. Would you honestly think a 17 year old would buy a car for that much? How many 17 year olds have that much money sitting in a bank (which should be invested instead of throwing it away like that). I would only reccommend a 17 year old buying, or financing, a car like that if he had a steady job bringing in +50K a year. Not much of a chance at that...

The same thing applies to me since I am only 19 years old. The only thing standing in my way is a credit rating which is being fixed by getting a credit card for the first time.

You will not see a discount like that on a brand new fully loaded IS for quite some time.

Well, that is my interpretation of the "discount".

Again... no offence to you suave_tequila

    :)
  • suave_tequilasuave_tequila Member Posts: 116
Oh none taken most 17 year olds around here where I live mostly have BMWs or Land Rovers and yes I do have a job that pays very well. But maybe I'll just wait till I'm 19 or something i'll just continue driving my 2003 Hummer!
  • mikegillermikegiller Member Posts: 602
You must mean "their parents have...". Where I come from its probably a little different, although I had a friend who got a 2002 Escalade (brand new) when he was 16. Oh yea, his dad bought it for him.

You are losing me somewhere here. Are all these kids child actors or drug dealers if they actually buy these things themselves? I find it hard to imagine kids with jobs that pay them anywhere around 1k+ a week while still in highschool full time.

Anyways, enjoy your Hummer. Pun intended!
  • suave_tequilasuave_tequila Member Posts: 116
OOOh no no no! No drug dealers here lol!(Not that I know of!)Its mostly snooby rich kids here and no the kids have those cars! Yeah are area were all spoiled!

I remember reading a post talking about possible discounts during the Lexus Dec. to remember sales. Does anyone have any ideas what these may be? Better discounts from MSRP, finance rates? Will it be better to still wait a few months for the hype to die down, or can deals be had during the specials in Dec? Also I live in Chicago area and they aren't offering the Luxury package with 18's without the ML system (which I don't need), only the Premium with 18's and no ML. Does that mean I'm SOL to get the Lux package and no ML, or can Lexus get that car for me? Don't want to talk with dealer until I get all the "real" world info I can.

    Thanks

I just picked up my IS250 RWD last wednesday, great car!!, great handling, acceleration not that powerful, very roomy :) (in the front only of course, forget the rear, it is gone) I am 6'4" 275#

For me the only way to get an improved discount at this point was getting a car out of their inventory. I didn't have any luck in Miami-Orlando-Forth Myers getting no more than $750 off sticker, however finally the dealer in Margate FL agreed to discount $900, final price $31748 + tag + tax.

The only 250 rwd package avaialable in South Florida comes with 18" wheel plus a set of useless stuff for a 35 year old man (mat, net, etc). msrp $32664 Strangely, the salespersons let me know (when the deal was done) that my car was their first IS250 sale!! they were even unfamiliar with some basic features when deliverying, I assume the sales of this car are not as hot as they claim when you ask them for a better deal. Or maybe hurricane Wilma really hurt them. In the end I am VERY happy with this car, my recommendation, any patient buyer should wait until January to save some bucks. and If you can go for the 350. finally it is amazing but in the Miami area I have seen only 2 IS on the roads, a "glacier frost mica" 250 and mine (beatiful white)! I wonder, is this car REALLY hot or is it too expensive I am one of the few new fools to pay close to sticker in this part of the country? (by their mistake i've got a free window tinting, I guess that makes me feel less guilty... )
  • suave_tequilasuave_tequila Member Posts: 116
Wait? The car doesn't come with standard tinted windows? Well at least you got it for free. Also is it true that the side mirrors actually fold in? Thanks!
  • 307web307web Member Posts: 1,033
Of course the car comes with standard tinted windows. Many people want their windows tinted much darker than the factory tint, so they pay extra to have a dark film applied to the windows.
  • jsimon12jsimon12 Member Posts: 4
I need quick info. Did I over pay. IS250 no cap cost reduction, I pay my taxes upfront. AWD with NAV 36 months. 525/month. It seems to be inline but not sure.
  • vilivviliv Member Posts: 11
I've got a darker tinted windows which according to their invoice should've cost me $250 more, go figure, I will check if the mirrors fold, I just got the car 3 days ago!

By the way the size of the side mirrors is great!
  • jc7098jc7098 Member Posts: 17
I agree about this car being too hyped. I live in Orlando and I haven't seen a single 2006 IS on the road (and I travel a lot). Yet, I've talked to dealers in Orlando, Melbourne, and Tampa and they all give me ridiculous quotes $500 or more above MSRP. One dealer had a demo car with over 1500 miles on it and they STILL wouldn't go below MSRP on it. Who are they selling these cars to? I even bought my wife's RX330 at the Orlando dealership at (below INVOICE) in March (cash), and they won't do anything for me. I think it's all hype. Stay patient and the deals will come.
  • suave_tequilasuave_tequila Member Posts: 116
Yeah I agree as well, I am waiting till May or June of next year when (I hope prices might drop) and satellite radio is available. I hope they have Sirius rather than XM since i have friends who perfer Sirius over XM. Also by then they will have extra acessories to IS. Plus if you like convertibles, there might be word on an IS convertible (I hope its true!)
  • apg3apg3 Member Posts: 7
I got a $500 discount on MSRP. With the nav package, it came out to 37,116. I'm financing it for 60 months and got a 5.9% rate.
  • jmarcjmarc Member Posts: 2
Hey apg3 Where and when did you buy your 250 in Chicago? I'm looking to get one soon and was thinking I'd have to settle for sticker.
