    Is there one in Florida?

Zoomers finally came out with a catback for the SRT GC, I shot them an e-mail, he told me like $1200 plus shipping. Sounds a little pricey to me for a catback, but figured I'd let everyone know.

    Hello,
I have a loaded Jeep srt8 and I have been having some problems with a dead battery after the truck sits for three or four days. Any ideas?? as the dealer has replaced the battery for me once already but it is still happening?
    Thanks,
    Bill
  • kec8kec8 Member Posts: 141
I have not experienced that problem and I have left mine sitting for as much as 10 days. How long have you had the vehicle? Did it do this from day one? This is a statement of the obvious, but something on your vehicle is drawing current and draining your battery. Did you add any aftermarket items? If not, the dealer needs to find out what is causing this to happen.

No sign of my srt8 yet...dealer says it's "in transit", said so last thursday...it's got all of 40 miles or so from factory to dealer! And still I hear nothing...

    SIGH!
  • cuppy1cuppy1 Member Posts: 28
Mine was "in transit" for 4 weeks from Mich. to PA. Hang in there its worth the wait.
  • kec8kec8 Member Posts: 141
Mine was "in transit" for four weeks for 40 miles also (I'm just outside Detroit). As long as you have a legit order with your dealer and they've given you a VIN or a VON, you should be fine. Hang in there.

    Hey everybody,

I live in Philly Pa. and I've had my SRT8 since Jan. I was looking to add some performance mods. but, didn't know what to get or where to order them from. I'd really appreciate any/all help scaring my friends/family even more. Also has anyone else been told by the dealer that the vibration between 30-40mph is normal? Thanks in advance
  • htronhtron Member Posts: 74
    Hmmm...I haven't gotten a VIN!!!! *panic*!!!!!

Should I ask the dealer about it??

Gee, do I sound anxious? :)
  • kec8kec8 Member Posts: 141
There are a couple of Jeep dealer people on this forum, so I'm sure that they will correct me if I am wrong, but if that vehicle is really "in transit" I believe that the dealer should have a VIN. In fact, they should have had a VIN quite a while ago. They should also have a VON (Vehicle Order Number). If they can't give you those, I would seriously question the validity of the information that they are giving you.

If this vehicle was ordered with your name on it, your name should show up on all of the tracking info that they have. My dealer was at least able to print from the computer screen to show me that information while I was waiting.
  • 06blksrt806blksrt8 Member Posts: 57
As soon as the order is placed the vehicle is given a VON number. After the car goes into D status which means it has a firm schedule, the VIN number is assigned. D1 the car is going through for build, then from what I've seen they go into an E,F,or G status which is basically them going over the vehicle. Then KZ which is released by plant and invoiced. But to answer your question, yes you should absolutley have a VIN number, I would question your dealer on it. I don't know if you special ordered yours but to anyone who's dealers are playing with them, there are enough out there to go and find one. Don't pay over sticker!!!
  • kec8kec8 Member Posts: 141
Ron, Do I read you correctly that you are in the Detroit area? If so, there are a number of SRT8's around here (I'm 40 miles outside Detroit)sitting on dealer lots. I did a search on jeep.com and found a lot of them. You should definately ask your dealer for the VIN.

    soooo right!
  • blkhemiblkhemi Member Posts: 1,717
    What was with that guy?
  • htronhtron Member Posts: 74
Yes, I am in the detroit area...and I haven't looked since I ordered my car, but I wanted a black one with everything but NOT nav and dvd - didn't want to spend that extra $2400 for both of those, and the nav screen is way too bright at night, and it's not even a touch screen.

Perhaps I'll look again...and next time I ask about progress (still NOT in!!) I'll ask for the vin too - I'll say that I have to go insurance shopping...
  • kec8kec8 Member Posts: 141
FYI, the NAV brightness is adjustable. It can be made very dim at night. I've found it helpful. Although we do have a DVD player in my wife's minivan, it's a waste in the GC. Worse yet it takes up some leg room for back seat passengers.

Most of the ones that I have seen out there are pretty loaded. The main exception seems to be the DVD player. When dealers are ordering this type of vehicle for stock, it's pretty certain that they're going to get them loaded.

    Good luck.
  • ctgcsrt8ctgcsrt8 Member Posts: 13
I have the NAV system also. The display is supposed to dim at nite when set to automatic. Mine doesn't. I have to set it manually to a lower setting because it is too bright.
Just curious if yours works the same way ?
  • 2002svtf1502002svtf150 Member Posts: 30
Just setting the Nav to Auto will not allow it to override the setting on the turn signal stalk. On the turn signal stalk there is an "inner ring" that you can turn, if it is turned all the way clockwise (I think) it will keep the Nav on bright regardless of the settings in the NAV unit. If you turn it one click back from the end where it is now I bet it will work properly. Try this & see if it won't clear up the issue. Good luck.
  • ctgcsrt8ctgcsrt8 Member Posts: 13
Thank you. Thank you. I would have figured that out myself soon, yah right!
I dont think that info is in the manual, but it should be.
  • htronhtron Member Posts: 74
No, that's certainly not in the manual, because I read it while I'm waiting for mine to come in! And, I also asked a couple of the dealers I've been to about dimming it, and they either said no or they didn't know. So, I elected to save the $1200.

Is it too much to ask for sales people to know every detail about the cars they're selling - especially special ones like this one????

There was even one dealer who tried to tell me that the srt8 was rear-wheel drive only. !!!
  • 2002svtf1502002svtf150 Member Posts: 30
If you turn the Easy Entry/Exit seat on in the dash display menu & it doesn't work, know this.
    (1) If your regular saved seat position is adjusted back within 1.5" of the rear stop the seat won't move with Easy Entry/Exit.
    (2) If you move your seat back at any time past this position this feature won't work. But all you need to do to reset it is to touch the preset while in park & it will move to the saved postion again.
    (3) If you touch the postioning switch without touching the center programming button first it will turn the Easy Entry/Exit feature off. You can touch the center button again & then the 1, or 2 preset to turn it on again. The display in the center of the speedometer section will say Easy Entry Disabled momentarily if you turn it off.
  • kec8kec8 Member Posts: 141
You are correct, but I think that it really is too damn complicated for a flaming power seat memory.

Setting the "favorite radio station" on entry feature is just as bad. The process of setting these features are not what I consider "intuitive".
  • kec8kec8 Member Posts: 141
BTW, I'm real curious as to what the dealer tells you when you ask for the VIN. Being that I'm in the area, I'm also curious as to who the dealer is that has this on order for you. If it's a not a 5 Star Dealer, they can't get SRT8's and if they are very low volume or not playing along with DCX's attempts at moving slow or dead stock (Commanders), they will have trouble getting them. Have they delivered any GC SRT8's?
  • htronhtron Member Posts: 74
I don't know if they've delivered any, but the owner is driving one, and they had another one that I test drove, and I also saw a third one there.

Are there any forum rules or anything saying I shouldn't say who it is? I guess this post'll get deleted if so...it's Fox Hills Chrysler Jeep, in Plymouth...I think they're 5 star?

I was pretty busy at work today, but sometime in the next couple of days, if I don't hear anything, I'll send an email to see what the update is...I've been checking about once a week. I'll ask for the VIN at that time, too...

Just figured I'd let everyone know, in case you didn't already. We've just got the ability to check out the 07 Jeeps. New colors, redrock crystal and steel blue, bigger gas tank (21.1), remote start standard in srt option group, back up camera comes with navigation option, rear spoiler. No pricing available. Just figured I'd let everyone know some of the major stuff.

It's okay to provide the name (and location) of a dealership though we frown on providing contact information (phone numbers, names of salespeople, email addresses, etc.).

A question - do you know if you still get the reverse sensing system in conjunction with the backup camera? I would think I'd want both at once...

I'm starting to debate now if I want to cancel the '06 order and just order an '07, but I'm not sure what I'd do for a car until september or so when it would come in...(I've just been kind of winging it now while waiting, helped that I was out of town for a couple of weeks.)
  • kec8kec8 Member Posts: 141
Fox Hills is a 5-star dealer and interestingly enough, according to an inventory search on jeep.com, they have two in stock (1 red, 1 black). I'm in A2, so you must be fairly close by.

The information on the 07's was very interesting. I had not heard about the back up camera. That would be a nice option to have along with the back up sensors.

All current GC's are mostly wired for the remote start option. I added that as an option when I got the SRT8 and the only downside is that it's a second (small) key fob button on your keychain. The extra 1/2 gallon of gas (21.1 vs 20.5) at best only gets you another 7 miles, but I suppose is better than nothing. I haven't seen the spoiler, so I don't know how that will look.

What I'm most interested in is whether they will hold the price with the addition of these small things or if they raise it, by how much.
  • resumespeedresumespeed Member Posts: 52
Detailed 2007 information has been available over on WKJeeps.com for three or four months now, they are always the first to get new model info (they even have some 2008 info already!)

The factory installed remote start utilizes a single key fob. The MSRP on the 2006 Grand Cherokee SRT8 was raised $400 a month ago, in part due to the increase in the SRT Track Experience fees (now $500). I would guess they are going to add another few hundred dollars on top of that for the 2007 models.
  • blkhemiblkhemi Member Posts: 1,717
The rear spoiler that will be standard for the '07 SRT is the same one that has been available from Mopar since the '05 JGC. It is an optional add on accessory for $295.

While I'm still skeptical about the functionality of the spoiler, I does give the flatness of the rear section of the roof a bit more form. And I do appreciate that it is subtle, not the least bit gaudy or tasteless.
Check it out at wkjeeps.com and scroll down to rear spoilers.
  • resumespeedresumespeed Member Posts: 52
It was originally thought that the Mopar style spoiler would be added as standard on the '07 models as "rear spoiler" was listed in the '07 specs, but it will not be. Further research showed that a "rear spoiler" is also listed as a standard feature on the 2008 SRT8 models, but no one has any idea what exactly Jeep is referring to as there is clearly no spoiler on the '06 models.

    Yes, definitely.

Thanks for the info. Maybe Jeep will let it be a stand-alone option like most companies.

I’ve had my Silver ’06 JGC SRT8 for about 3 weeks now and absolutely love this vehicle. Best I’ve owned for many, many years. I have several questions about our aluminum wheels for the SRT8 community:

    1. What’s the general consensus on brake pad dust….seem excessive? I’ve notice a fair dusting that builds up about every 30 miles or so. Makes it necessary to wipe them off fairly often.
    2. My wheels appear to have lost their luster. Do these wheels have a clear coat protection or are they bare aluminum?
    3. What products should be used to polish these puppies?
    4. Would any one recommend a Mothers Power Ball be used for making this task easier?

Could be happier with the shine………….. :(

Yeah, I've seen the 2 they have, I don't want red so I don't even know what it has, but I'd guess it has the dvd and/or nav like the black one does.

I'm in Canton...any others around this area, maybe we can meet after (if???) I get my srt8! Are you going to MIS in October?

In other news, I did get the vin!! Anyone here that can track it better than my dealer to find out precisely where it is?? I can't believe they can't locate it down to the foot of its current location!!
  • cuppy1cuppy1 Member Posts: 28
I don't notice an excessive amount of brake dust. The wheels are clear coated so any product that can be used on clear coat would be OK.

I have a dealer in Alvin texas that has a black SRT8 G.C. in stock. It is a weird package since it doesn't,t have the option 1 group on it but it stickers for around 40,000.
  • blkhemiblkhemi Member Posts: 1,717
So I take it that this is a "stripper" model. If the sticker on the window is $40k, then it doesn't have any options.
  • resumespeedresumespeed Member Posts: 52
Definitely a stripped model, I don't know who would want to skimp on a vehicle like this, if you are going to go that far might as well go all the way, here is what is in the SRT1 Group (Remote Start will be added for 2007):

    SRT OPTION GROUP I (AY1) ($3195 MSRP)
    Includes:
Air cond ATC w/dual zone control
    Bright pedals
    Deluxe door trim panels
    Heated front seats
    Parksense rear back-up system
    Power adjustable pedals w/memory
    Power sunroof
Power 8-way driver, memory; 4-way pass seats
    Radio/driver seat/mirrors memory
    Rain sensitive windshield wipers
Side window curtain frt/rr air bags
Sirius satellite radio with 1-year service

Glad to hear that you got a VIN. That makes it a lot more "real". I had a VIN and my vehicle still seemed to disappear for a month. My dealer had a delivery date of Jan 30th and it finally showed up in early March. I even had a guy at DCX HQ tracking it and he got promised delivery dates that they didn't keep. It was sitting in a lot somewhere and when it finally got delivered, there was a second SRT8 on the truck that had been ordered 6 weeks after mine. They seem to have a "disconnect" between getting the vehicles completed and then delivered. I think that your only bet is to just have the dealer try to track it.

I am planning on doing one of the MIS Oct dates, but haven't signed up yet. We'll have to meet when you finally get your vehicle, but Canton is out as a meeting place. Too much traffic with the new IKEA store!
  • cuppy1cuppy1 Member Posts: 28
I ordered mine with no options because I want to drag race it and didn't want the extra weight of a bunch of options (especially the sunroof). Less weight=faster time.
  • 2002svtf1502002svtf150 Member Posts: 30
You bought a $40K SUV for track use only?
  • cuppy1cuppy1 Member Posts: 28
It gets driven less than 2,000 miles per year on the highway. Not a daily driver.
  • htronhtron Member Posts: 74
If it matters, I can't make the saturday and sunday dates, so I'll be going on fri oct 20th...

The dealer says he has phone calls in to people to find out where it is, but he's not getting anywhere...I'm really getting disappointed! I'm starting to wonder if I should just wait for an '07 at this point...even though I don't have a car right now because I stupidly believed the dealer on his first delivery date and sold my car a couple of days before that... :(
  • kec8kec8 Member Posts: 141
I'm signing up for the Friday Oct 20, date also. As my vehicle was not in their database, I have to fax a copy of my window sticker to them, showing that the SRT Track Experience was included in the price. Apparently not all vehicles have it included and if they don't, it costs $500.

Hopefully you'll have your vehicle by the time of the Track Experience!
  • htronhtron Member Posts: 74
Guess what?!?!!! It's at the dealer!! Got in Monday...he said he couldn't have it ready until tomorrow (??)...so, hopefully I'll be picking it up tomorrow! My wife has been there to see it, it has 13 miles on it. (13 miles - seems like a lot??? Why so many??)

So, I should be signed up by the end of the week, I may be bringing a buddy too, though he'll have to pay of course. We should set up a way to recognize each other!

So, anyone have any first-day-of-ownership tips??? :)
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
13 miles is nothing. Congrats! :shades:

First thing I can think of is to pick it up in the bright daylight - any paint or body defects will be hard to see in the evening (and you still may miss something until you wash it the first time).

You may want to get an extra key now since new programmed fobs/keys are expensive and may only be available at a dealer, especially if you can convince your dealer to give you an extra at a discount.

The most overlooked prep item seems to be the tire pressure; the tires are usually over-inflated for shipping and if they aren't aired down, you may be in for a rough ride home.

Check for anything missing that should be included, like floor mats, tire jack or owner's manuals.

Check the lights and electrical stuff - wipers and power windows.

Then you have to pick your break-in philosophy. Do you treat it gently for the first 1,000 miles to try to insure engine longevity or do you drive it like you stole it to try to insure engine longevity and max performance? ;)

After you pick it up, set up your CarSpace.com page with your Edmunds user name and password and post some pics!

    Congratulations!

    First day of ownership tips:

    1. Go easy. Remember the 250 mile break in period.
There will be plenty more days ahead when you can plant your foot in it.

    2. Don't even try to keep the grin off of your face.

    3. Enjoy the stares.

The 13 miles on the odo tells me that someone at the dealership probably took it for a ride yesterday, but it'll survive.

Make sure that you tell the dealer to save the Monroni (the window sticker) for you. When you sign up for the SRT Track Experience they will probably ask you to fax a copy of it to them to prove that it was included in the price of your car (apparently some didn't include it). My GC SRT8 was not in their database yet and I took delivery on mine three months ago, so it will be doubtful that yours will be.

You will need to request that they e-mail a registration form to you to fax to them. If you try to sign up on line
and give them your credit card number, you will automatically be charged if your car is not in the database. Call Kathy at the SRT Track Experience office (conveniently located at an ad agency in Farmington Hills). She is very nice and very helpful.

I'll be the guy in the black GC SRT8 at the MIS Track Experience in October. What color is yours?

    Have fun.

    Hey Steve,

Just where is the jack located at on a SRT8 GC?
