Can't even imagine spending that much on 1 car, but I am poor so not a good barometer.

I could have afforded it if it didn't have that pimped-out exhaust system.

I should take that back. If I can convince my daughter to join the army instead of going to college, I could redirect the college fund into something more practical like an M3!

Though my puritanical genes would likely prevent it, unless I hit powerball and become stupid rich.

I suggest the Foreign Legion would be more appropriate for YOU so you can put some distance between you and the Mrs. after she finds out what you did. I wonder how an M3 handles on sand dunes?

"...if you can't bring the child to the college, bring the college to the child!" Following that thought, one way to skin this cat would be to have her "log on" to a college and get her degree online. That way, you can have your M3 and the child gets her degree for peanuts. It's worked for many kids, why not yours?

$81,000 is pretty close. I took out a 30 year mortgage and will have it paid off on my 100th birthday.

Houdini, costs almost as much as a home in Florida. Do you think you could live out of it?

A friend of mine had the previous generation M3 (6 Cyl), and that was more car than I could drive on a daily basis.
He would bring it over so I could drive it after making upgrades.

"...I just called a snow removal company to clear my driveway."

I'm so glad that you did. ABC Evening News had a segment tonight on shoveling snow. The report said that shoveling snow for 30 minutes was equaled to lifting heavy weights for 30 minutes. It also stated that men over age 55 stood a 34% greater risk of suffering a heart attack. I hope the guys here will consider allowing the younger generation to shovel the snow, or hire a professional as you did.

Reports of heavy snow and winds are coming in now. Hope all of my friends in the North stay safe. Report in to us when you can. Good luck.

Congratulations on the new ride. I researched and looked at the pictures. It is a beautiful truck. I really like the square lines (my favorite), and your color combination is really pretty. I know that you and the Mrs. will really enjoy this vehicle. I'm happy for you. To hell with the cost---if you like it and can make it work, then you should have it. Enjoy!

As for that $200 that you charged me today, I'll credit it to your account. You owe me at least $1,000 for the trip that I made to Kansas to see you. Since you weren't at home to receive me, after issuing me the invitation, I decided that some form of compensation should be in order. :D;)

Please convey to your lovely wife, in my most Southern of accents, my congratulations on the purchase of her new automobile.

It's morning and we still have power. When it gets light out, I'll have to figure out how to get out of the house! The wind has caused some pretty tall snow drifts.
We have some windows on each side of the front door. On one side, the snow is up to my knee, me standing inside. The other side, not quite as high. Doesn't sound too bad, but then you have take into account that it's 3 steps down to ground level.
I hope NYC made it home ok and has power.

ABC Evening News had a segment tonight on shoveling snow

    Thanks for the tip. My question is;

Aren't seniors supposed to be watching CBS news?

I thought ABC was targeting the younger generation.

Speaking of which, I was watching CNN and a bit of Fox about the storm and that was major. Hope everybody affected can dig out and get on with your lives. I have been there and done that and don't want to do it any more.

Oh yeh, I watch NBC News...it's for in betweeners.

    Thanks Richard.

I still regret that we were not able to make a connection on your trip through here. Hopefully we can make it work next time. Mrs. houdini still asks about you now and then, so I don't think she has given up on meeting that guy with the great southern accent. I will have to keep an eye on her.

I will forgive your debt this time and just write it off.

I hope everyone who has been affected by the "blizzard of 2013" is safe and snug somewhere where it is warm and dry this morning. Have fun in the snow but don't over do it.

We have power and we have snow.

The wind has died down and it's tough to get a real solid snowfall total. I'm guessing about 24". My back deck has about 3" on it and the drifts up next to the cars in the driveway are about 36". The plow poop is 4' tall and about 2' thick.

The snow is expected to stop in a few hours and what's coming down now is fluffy so it'll build up quickly. The snow blower is ready to go....and hopefully the 16 YO man-boy will be awake by noon to help out.

Edit - news just interviewed an intrepid clammer who went out on a beach at low tide and collected quahaugs off the sand. "They're gonna die anyway so why not eat them?" He's hoping the waves pick up and toss some lobsters over the seawall.

Report in to us when you can.

Thank God the power is still on. So far, we have 23 inches of snow on the ground and snow banks as high as 6 feet.

Last night was really scary with howling winds and blinding snow. You could actually hear the wind enter through the eaves and rattle the air conditioning return in the attic. At the moment I have one major concern my deck is so loaded with snow that I'm afraid it may collapse.

Latest forecast is two to four more inches of snow before the storm ends by noon or so. As to the roads, there is a driving ban for all but emergency vehicles.

    Stay safe and warm.

Richard would be proud of me. I had the 11 year olds shoveling the 3 or 4" of snow we got and clearing the cars. Didn't worry about the deck other than a path to put the dog out. Not using the deck until things melt.

First & most important, Houdini, congrats & Mazel Tov on the new LX!

I got home fine last night. It only took me about an hour. Roads were slick, but I just kept my distance & my BMW's X-Drive AWD kept me on the road.

I woke up this AM @ 5:30 planning on going to work. Turned on the traffic & weather channel. All major highways in CT were closed. I saw numerous vehicles stuck on the side or in the middle on I95, so I called my Dad, texted a few customers saying that we weren't going to open up, shut the TV off & went to sleep.

Played outside with the kids & dug a nice path with my electric snow blower to get the Pilot out of the garage & put my BMW in the garage. I'll post more later.

That’s a clear case of rank having its privileges.

Here in the Burgh we got nothing. Even the temp isn’t bad, 30’s today 40’s expected tomorrow. I plan to take the cars out of the garage and squirt some road grime and salt off of them if tomorrow’s prediction is right.

Still waiting for a real snow fall to test Mrs. j’s Subie. Nothing yet since November 2011. If I had the time I’d drive up your way and give it a tryout but I’m a homer.

Hope all is well with you guys up in the Snow Belt.

We made it through the first hammer blow.
The second one is on the way, although we are not expecting any more snow.
Our street is a bit less than 4 car widths wide.
The plow hasn't come within 6 feet of the curb on each side of the street and we know it's going to come back.
I already have snow piled up approaching 7 feet in some places, so the question becomes, Where is the rest of it going to go?
Worst case, Spring will eventually get here. ;)
Unfortunately, after we were done, my wife had to head to the hospital because her Dad is having a problem.
She decided to leave her new Escape home and take the old dog '02 Explorer. A good choice.

    I'd come, for sure.

There used to be quite a few boards sprinkled around Edmunds that had the spirit of comradery that this one exhibits, but owing to a big Edmunds philosophy change several years ago, all but this one are gone, so far as I know.

Try telling that to Houdini, Isellhondas, Michael, Gogiboy, Snake, etc. :D Besides, I wouldn't get to take a road trip if you came here. ;)

Jmonroe: I agree. Edmunds should give us our 100K post pins. I'll take mine as one large round diamond surrounded by a cluster of rubies. In fact, Edmunds should set us all up at a five star resort for a week. This should include a wide variety of automobiles for all of us to try. At the end of the week, we each take home the car of our choice. What is it that we always say? If you don't ask, you don't get. :D

For the big get together I would suggest the hometown of our wonderful HOST, KIRSTIE.

Columbia, Mo is right in the middle of the country, plus Kirstie would be there to do all the work, etc. I am sure she could put quite a few of us up and I bet she is a great cook.

I nominate Richard to work out all the details with Kirstie and report back ASAP. What a wonderful surprise this will be for her!

Yes, now the "experts" are devoting their efforts to running off everyone who used to post on the Inside Line blogs; some Long Term Test blog entries would generate over one hundred comments. Since the suits rolled out the "New and Improved" version a blog entry is lucky to get five comments...
