This is only a guess but a person with long pockets usually gives out money freely. Mayor Ford is almost the only mayor in North America who has been able to hold the line on taxes.......his brother, who is his spokesman may have meant the mayor is very careful about how he spends money - easp tax dollars.
Incidentally he is independently wealthy...his family has a very prosperous label making company.
Seems that to buy one you have to line up at city hall. They go for $20 with half going to drug addiction programs. You can check eBay or Kijiiji (Cdn Craigs List), but they are offered for $500 to $1000.
For the record, Mayor Ford drives a Cadillac Escalade and he has been driving himself, but now says he will get a driver. He has been caught texting while driving, admitted to a DUI, was found reading while driving.

The bad storms may have been closer to kyfdx, Imid and roadburner than they were to me, though.
Pet peeve......I gave up my season tickets for exactly the reason that follows (got seats from an old colleague...good seats....3 rows from the field) I don't mind when going to a sporting event that the ushers make certain you have tickets for seats you're in. I also don't mind tipping an usher who helps find your seats, and/or wipes them down for you (especially appreciated it yesterday when the seats were soaked).
However, when all was said and done, I dropped about $300 at the stadium yesterday. Two tickets. Parking. A few beers. A couple of brats, a pretzel and popcorn.
I don't think the game was televised nationally, but if it was, those who were watching may have noticed it rained in buckets off and on in the 2nd half. I had a hooded parka, as did my lady friend. Still, we were getting soaked.
We decided to take cover behind our section, under an overhang. Mind you, we were blocking no one, as there was only a wall behind us. And, we were standing next to two Cincinnati policeman, who were trying to stay dry, too. All we wanted to do was watch the game in a (relatively) dry state.
So, what does the dry, surly usher do (especially egregious since I tipped her $5 for the 10 seconds it took for her to dry our seats just an hour earlier)? She "shoos" us away, stating we can't stand where we're standing. OK....you're dry. I'm wet (soaked). I'm standing next to two of Cincinnati's finest, who were quite cordial to us as were were sharing their small overhang space. We just wanted to see what, at least up until then, a close game. We moved to another space, about 50 feet away, to a space that was abandoned by some in a wheel chair that were under cover (we saw them leave). We didn't sit in their seats. We just stood there.
Again, here she comes to chase us away. I explained to her that they people left the spot and left. All we wanted to do was watch the game, in a semi-dry state (she never entered back to the seats that were getting rained on....NOOOOOOO....that's too uncomfortable).
She became snippy with us about the seats being handicapped seats (again, we weren't sitting in them, just standing behind them).
Enjoyed the rest of the game at a downtown drinking establishment, after leaving the stadium, pretty damned irritated.
No more. No more money goes to the Bengals....not from me (harumph)!!!!!
I hope all of you are as well.

But isn't that another example of a stadium built for the wealthy owners by the poor working folk of Hamilton County. Doesn't the county guarantee the gate money to the owner of the Bengals for a sold out stadium for every game?
Was there a sales tax increase to help pay for that Paul Brown stadium. But Hamilton County has had to make drastic cuts, according to morning talk radio 550, to stay solvent; and here they're paying for a stadium. I don't know if you live in Hamilton or not.
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
The general parking lots at Gillette Stadium are $40 as the Patriots/Krafts control all the lots. I have no idea what the club seat holders pay for their annual pass. There are a few private lots that charge only $25+ but you have to walk a mile or two.
My best guess is that 15K cars park at the stadium at $40 each (cash only) - that's $600K a week for each game.

I was already in my slouch mode here on Edmunds when I looked in one time and saw your post that got me to go over to see ‘cardoc’. I’ve already thanked you for that so no need to do it again. I still owe you for that one and I haven’t forgotten about it either.
I might get thrown out of here for this but I’ve been gone before.
It’s a damn good thing that ‘cardoc’ isn’t a real doctor, especially a proctologist, because he’d try to convince his patients that they aren’t qualified to wipe themselves and only a doctor knows how it should be done. I’m not sure I even want to listen in over there anymore.
I still owe you.

Government malfeasance at its finest. The County Commisioner who pushed the stadium tax through and negotiated "the deal" for the stadium, is now an employee of the Bengals. Nothing shady about that, right?
The Brown family (Paul Brown's offspring) are all on the Bengals payroll. And yes, the parking, the concessions, the ticket sales......all goes to the family. Oh yeah, maintenance and upkeep are the resposibility of the tax payers. Nothing about that is unfair, right?
The tix were about $100/ea x 2. Parking was $40. One beer is $8.50/ea. We each had 2. Throw in a couple of brats, a pretzel, some popcorn.....$300+. And I can't even see the game because some bitchy tyrant who works at the stadium decides she decides who stays dry, and who gets drenched. I saw half a game, got totally soaked, way overpaid for cold snacks, and way overpriced beer, all for a mere $300.
Bengals management cried for years about the need for the taxpayers to step up to keep them in the city and not move away. They cried when they couldn't sell out the stadium after years of not fielding a competitive team. If it weren't for the taxpayers, there would be no Bengals, no stadium and we'd be several tens of millions of dollars richer in the SW part of the state.
At least the REDs aren't so surly about Great American Ballpark. I've been there when it's rained, just enough to keep from cancelling the game. We can stand undercover with no tactics to keep us from staying dry by the users.
I knew there was a reason I gave up season tickets for the Bengals. It only took me one game at the stadium to remind me why that was. Never again.
I get why they keep contact at a minimum they are trying to accomplish things here without interference.
Actually yesterday was a great day overall. Saw my daughter than went over to Jen's oldest brother's place in PA where the 4 remaining (of 6 original) siblings got together for dinner. Then 15 minutes down the road we met up with my brother to see the Austin Lounge Lizards (a very funny bluegrass type group). Jen and I were in front row center. Can't beat that. A little worn out today but I can live with that. I earned it.

They do live in a manufactured home and since those always seem to fare the worst we were concerned.
They did answer an email and reported very, VERY heavy rain and a lot of wind but no damage. Sounds like they got lucky!
I agree that he is knowledgeable but he doesn’t have to defend the poor workmanship of mechanics that the posters are complaining about. We’ve all had bad experiences with auto mechanics and others that have done work for us. Just because you aren’t in the biz doesn’t mean you don’t know at least something about cars and other items and how to do that work. Some of us have more ability than others but we’re not all a bunch of yahoos.
I’ve said this before and it is amazing how coincidences happen on this site when we get onto a subject. Let me explain but please bear with me on this because it has some length.
It must be about 2 months ago by now that our Samsung dishwasher started making noise on all cycles and through the entire cycle. This is the one I installed when Sears gave us full replacement value for the Kenmore that quit working in March of 2011 even though it was 3 months out of warranty (I told that tale when that happened back in March 2011).
Since I allowed Mrs. j to talk me into buying an extended 5 year warranty (really only 4 because it came with a 1 year warranty but that’s the way they hype it) the dishwasher was covered under the extended warranty. So, I told her to call Sears to have them come out to repair it. Sears was swamped with calls so they said when that happens they turn it over to an authorized independent repair shop. OK, they are authorized to do the work so they came out. The guy found that the main pump bearing was bad (that’s why it was making noise) so he would order the part and it would be in within a week. More than two weeks pass and no call from the place. I told her to call them to see what was holding it up. She calls and from what she was able to piece together the paper work got lost but they had the part. Two days later they came out and installed it and two days after that it stopped working completely. She calls Sears again and again we have to wait a week but this time we don’t have a dishwasher at all. We’re now into paper plates and plastic cups or worse yet, going out (she likes that option). The Sears guy comes out and finds that the drain solenoid part of the new pump assembly is bad but he just happens to have one in the truck. Too make the repair he has to yank out the dishwasher again so when he shuts off the hot water supply valve under the sink he broke the shut off valve but didn’t know it at the time because it held pressure until he has the dishwasher out but water is now running on the floor and he’s trying to hold his thumb over the end of the hose as best as he can. It’s a good thing Mrs. j sees what going on so she goes to the basement to turn off the main water shut off valve. He makes the repair, runs it through a quick cycle to make sure it’s working but wants to talk to me about the bad valve.
Mrs. j calls me at work then hands the phone to the guy and the first thing he says is how impressed he was that she knew where the main shut off was and how quickly she got it shut off. It’s good thing that we have gone over this several times over the years so I was not all that impressed but I was happy that she did listen to me at least this one time about this.
When I got home I looked at what was broken (he did not offer to replace the valve) and I saw that the valve stem just kept turning and because of this I can’t shut the water off to the sink or the dishwasher at this valve. At least the valve stem is not broken at the packing nut so the valve is essentially not a valve any more just acts like a pipe run but the good thing is it doesn’t leak a drop. On top of this the pipe stub on the disposal that accepts the dishwasher drain line was broken but I have repaired this. Believe it or not I have not yet been able to find a replacement valve that is configured like the one that is there but I’ll keep looking or I’ll have to change the supply line run to accommodate a readily available valve. When I told Mrs. j all of what was going on (but she could still use the dishwasher just like before), she said, “why don’t you call Sears and tell them”. Sure, with the two different outfits that were there to make the fix, I know I’m going to be in a you-know-what contest so I haven’t called yet and probably won’t waste my time over it.
I tell this tell tale to point out that so called “professionals” are not always professional. The main reason I tried to learn how to do things early on in my life is because I learned that even when a “professional” mechanic or others may fix what you wanted fixed they seem to mess up something else. You know, fix ‘A’ but break ‘B’ and ‘C’.
The cost to me to make the fix, however I go about doing it, is almost nothing but that is because I know how to do it. There are a lot of people that would have to call in a plumber to make the repair and that is NOT ALMOST NOTHING.
Lesson learned even a warranty repair is not free or always done correctly.
Sorry to have bored anyone here with this but I refuse to believe that this kind of stuff only happens to me.

Thanks for trying to help but I don’t know how to post a picture. However, on the Home Depot site they show a Brasscraft that is configured like I want but it isn’t in either of 2 stores near me and I can’t buy it from Home Depot on line either. Something pops up that it can’t be shipped to my Zip code. Maybe it’s because of the lead content.
Anyway, the Brasscraft P/N is R1701LRXR1. If you put this number in the Home Depot site you will see it. There are several sites that show a pix of it and some are even cheaper than Home Depot but I’m not worried about a few bucks at this point. It doesn’t have to be brass as shown in the pix (I was expecting to see a chrome plated valve) but it must be configured with the 1/2 inch NPTF supply input in line with the shut off handle as shown. The reason is the supply line to the facet will not reach if the tap off from the valve is not on the top as shown. Honest, I don’t even have a 1/4 inch more of the prefabricated flexible faucet supply line length to spare. It just makes it as it is. Like I said before, I could rearrange the water supply line if I had to but why if I can find a direct replacement. I wanted a quarter turn valve but that seems to be asking for way too much from what I see so far.
I just might have to buy it on line but that seems nuts. Even a fairly well stocked plumbing supply place near me doesn’t have it. At least that is what they said when I called this morning. They even said to go on the internet.
Thanks again.

Ironically the independent guy that was sent out first is a place that a fellow worker has used for repair and he thinks they are great. They may be but they may be the ones that started the valve on its failure path by over cranking it first. That is why I don’t think I could get either of them to fess up and repair what is broken.
As far as independent appliance stores go there is a very good one near me and when I went there when we moved back to the Burgh from SC they didn’t have a single appliance model that either of us liked so that shot a hole in that idea. And they were more expensive. IIRC, at least 10 % more if not higher. I’d prefer to use a mom and pop place but they have to be able to sell me what I want. Their retort to that is they only sell the most trouble free appliances and repair what others sell. Sounds good but I don’t buy all of that.
‘explorer’ as I was driving home I thought of taking one of the old single shut off valves that I have in the garage (must have at least 8 of them) that I keep for emergencies and see if I can take the stem from one of those and put it on the busted one. I know I have a Brasscraft brand down there amongst a few other brands so this will be the quickest fix if it fits.
Anyone out there going to wish me luck?

Was replacing some toilet internals and had to reposition the connecting hose.
Thought the water was off, but when I disconnected the hose, the water wouldn't stop.
Threw a towel on it, then had to run down from the second floor to the basement to get to the main shutoff.
The inlet side of the valve was soldered on, so I lucked out being able to replace the shutoff piece.
I will say that the installer they contracted was very good... Evidently, he does all of the dishwasher installations for that one store..
One month in, and so far, so good... the dishwasher is so quiet, that it projects an LED light onto the floor, so you know it's running.... ;-)

Our Samsung was fine until a couple of months ago (2 years old this past March) and it is also very quiet but I bought it to wash dishes for a long time not necessarily be quiet but that is nice if it does both.
I'm beginning to think that dishwashers are the most trouble prone appliances there are but then the first two GE units we had in this house were fine until the first one had a recall after 10 years and was replaced with another GE that was replaced only because we did a kitchen remodel in January 2010. I still have that GE in the basement and would use it in a minute if the Samsung goes all the way south but Mrs. j would have a fit because it is white not stainless.
Good luck with your Bosch, I heard they are reliable but then again the Sears salesman told us that about the Samsung too.

kyfdx...good to hear you weren't affected by the storm (mexican food cravings aside). I thought about you when I saw the alerts Sunday night.
I'm with you. I let my Bengals season tickets go about 3 years now. First time I went to a game since then. Like you, I was reminded immediately why I don't regret that decision. Such a contrast with going to a Bengals game and a Reds game. The Bengals staff can't be any more fan unfriendly. You can't help but feel you're being ripped off at a Bengals game, regardless of what's going on with the game.
The reverse of that, seems as if all the consessionaires, ticket takers, users, etc I've encountered at the Reds games are all cheerful and happy to help and accommodate.
I took a good look at this last night and what I have under the sink is EXACTLY the same BrassCraft valve as the P/N that I showed in an earlier post. I even got it at Home Depot back in 1998 because Lowes was not in the area at the time. So, I went to the garage and took 2 different style BrassCraft valves that I keep for emergencies and I interchanged the stems and it worked. So, I am pretty sure I have the fix for what is broken because I doubt that the valve seat was destroyed when the “professional” repair man horsed it shut.
Am I ever glad that I kept a few used valves over the years. Finally paid off.
‘jayrider ‘ you said, “You want luck ? There's no luck in plumbing repairs !”. Well if it ain’t luck I must be good but it sure took a while for me to prove it to myself. Either way I’ll take it.
Case closed and thanks.

Contrast that experience to the uber Mike Brown and family's view of the Bengals fans. We're almost a necessary evil, and a way to fund his own personal, and very expensive sandbox (Paul Brown Stadium). The personnel at the Bengals stadium reflects that view.
I know neither you, nor I, could vote for the stadium tax increase, but at the time, I wanted it to fail.
To pull things back around to being just slightly less off topic, I've had a Samsung dishwasher for probably 5-6 years. Quiet as a mouse. Cleans dishes great. No problems at all. I think I paid somewhere north of $800 for it, though. That was an eye opener. But, I didn't want to have to replace it every 2-3 years, either.
You got that right.
I’ve had Steelers season tickets since back in the early 70s. While I lived in SC, sons 1 and 2 became the custodians of those of those 3 tickets and when I returned to the Burgh I left them continue with that and allowed my oldest nephew to use my ticket just as he did when I was down south. For the last few years my sons have been able to sell those seats at a handsome profit except for a couple games that they wanted for themselves. Guess which was one of the ones they kept and bought more of for their sons (total of 4), yep, this past Sundays game with the Lions. The weather was miserable right from the start but I don’t think it was as bad as what GG had to endure at the Bengals game. The kids didn’t seem to mind too much from what I heard. The fathers were ready to leave at half time but the kids said they wanted to stay. There was a day when I wouldn’t have minded either but those days a loooong gone.
Aside from the weather I just don’t want to put up with the hassle anymore. You know traffic, parking, drunk fans.
I think I just showed my age, huh?
