If you haven't seen "Used Cars", it's pretty funny, especially for the real, professional sales people on here.
You're cracking me up. What's strange, is that I actually worked with one of those preachers. He didn't even own a car. Called himself a reverend and didn't sell much, but smashed everyone he did. Lasted a few months, bought himself a new pair of alligator boots and left. Alonzo. We miss you.

One of my favorites is Cadillac Man with Robin Williams, Used Cars is really good too. There's also one out there with Don Johnson and Virginia Madsen that revolves around a small car lot but it's mainly about Don and Virginia doing the nasty.
Suckers is ok, they get the sales meetings and other things that go on at dealerships right. The drug and killing were a little over the top. I'd give it a C-.
There's another one out there that the title escapes me but I'll think about it later and post it.
Glengarry, Glenross is one of my all time faves. Although not about car sales it's about land sales and the characters are not that much detached from what we have in the car biz or the closing techniques they use. One of the favorite lines we use around here with noobs is when they are by the coffee.
"Put the coffee down, coffee is for closers." you should see the look on their face.!
The other line is when Alec Baldwin tells one guy: "See this watch! This cost more than that POS Hyundai you drove in today!" and there's the classic one which I can't repeat here as it is a family forum.
Later, will post more from home. It's friday night at the dealership and we put up ten deals on the board. I delivered one and have another going first thing tomorrow morning.

if you have to ask yourself that question I can see Version 4 in your near future, hope the trade in on V3 goes well
I moved from Nissan/Infiniti to Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Sprinter.
Had our wedding, been on two honeymoons and came back to a new job.
It's a5 minute drive to work as opposed to 40 minute commmute, and we have a ton of fun here. To be honset I was dissappointed with some of the Nissan product, even though the grosses were decent.
Plus we were losing a ton of Infiniti business to the US. Lot of people shopping south cause of our strong buck. And Infiniti is where we made good grosses because there's only two other stores in Vancouver.
Anyways the Chrysler product for some reason is more appealing than Nissans to me, and there's a bit more selection. I think I'll stick around here for a while.

OK, you know the rules, lets have a sales tale. You've got to have a few by now.
Had our wedding, been on two honeymoons and came back to a new job.
And remember, this is a family forum, no tales from these adventures

I have been tricked into quite a few of amway and others, never went through an entire presentation though.
Are they still around?
Yes and they have another one under a different name that I cannot recall right now.

The reason being is the Tennessee Buyers Remorse law has some outs for a consumer who was sold something at there home.
The lady who won truly needed them so that was good.

If the person doesn't want to test drive the car and Finance isn't busy, I can get a person out in 45 minutes.
He smelled so bad that we had him out of there in under thirty minutes.
You had me wondering there for a second, now I understand. :surprise:

Amway is still around despite their many legal woes over the last 20 years. Although I haven't lived in MI in more than 25 years I still visit my folks a couple of times a year. I don't remember where I read it, but the Amway founders were at one time listed among the most prosperous Michiganders, which is really saying something given they're up against folk like the Fords and pizza magnates: Ilitch (Little Caesars) and Monaghan (Dominos). Monaghan has since moved on and has much of his money invested in his own Catholic University in FL. Ilitch bought the Tigers from Monaghan and also owns the Red Wings, if I'm not mistaken. The Ford family own the Lions. Anyone remember who owns the Pistons?
Of course, they all pale in comparison to some of the entrepreneurs in Isell's zipcode.

I thought that was rather rude. What do you guys think?

So are you saying not to bath before going to the dealership to help you get a better deal and get out of there fast?

The first thing I think is maybe the salesperson offended them.
If that wasn't the case that was rude and retarded :confuse:

That was beyond rude into cruel. Did they say that they were just looking? Did they explain why they were just taking off? At least a "we'll be back" would have been nice.
Unless you're leaving out some details I would have to guess that dad was teaching his son how to be a jerk.

Of course it's rude, or as oldfarmer said, cruel. I don't know how you avoid such things. It's certainly not something you'd catch me doing.
I guess I'd be suspicious of anyone coming in looking to try out everything. Is it me or does that just scream "I'm not serious!"
