I just missed the time frame for driving a car with a push button transmission. My older brother had a little time with a 61 Valiant but two year later when I was driving it was long gone.
I drove a 59 Edsel once but only the 58s had push buttons.
You were lucky.
When I learned to drive, my father had a '58 Plymouth Sport Suburban wagon. My uncle had a '57 and told my father not to buy it and also told him at any given mileage the problems he was going to have. He was pretty darn accurate.
That "typewriter drive" machine was a real beast. But that wagon did come in handy for a kid on dates, if you know what I mean.

I learned to drive in the '64 Fury, which Dad traded for a '66 Chrysler Newport. One of our neighbors, seeing the new Chrysler in our driveway, rushed down to the dealership & snapped up the Fury, which he kept until 1980 or thereabouts.
Seriously, welcome to our little world. We are happy that you wish to join us. You write very well, and we look forward to your views, opinions, and discussions.

I loved driving that car, but unfortunately it needed a lot of repairs. I thought it handled really well, light steering, not like a slow duller feeling Ford, and what a feeling, having those big tall fins attached to the car. Felt like a jet pilot.
Also, I loved those pushbuttons, felt so technologically advanced, instead of a crude gear shifter. How can a new Camry compare with that?

No, this is the Mitsubishi 2.5L the same one that was in my 97' Cirrus. Extremely smooth running and robust. My younger son is currently trying to destroy that motor without success. The Chrysler 2.7L appeared in the redesigned Sebring for 2001. I had that motor in my Concorde and never had any problem although there were reports of sludging at the time.

That means you had room for her whole family to come along to keep an eye on you, right?

Sure you do, but for some reason you folks show up about a month early looking for turkey. :P

No. it's at a big new car Chevy dealer. Maybe because it has manual shift they hope to sell to the racing crowd. :lemon:

Nope, it didn’t mean that at all. I never dated girls that had "whole families" and surely never one that had a big brother. Be he older or younger. BIG was the prerequisite.
Topic thing: That ’58 Plymouth wagon did have the potential to get a teenager in trouble but I could handle it.

When the salesmen think the prices are crazy you know it must be so.
When I was looking up their web address I also saw that this same dealer has a listing of cars that are "Going to Auction" leading you to believe that you can get a wholesale deal by bidding on them.
I looked up the "current bid" on one and it was only a few hundred less than the asking price. Hardly auction value but still it seemed like a novel way to give the lot queens a last chance.

I was shocked to see that Edmunds TMV retail was as high as $5300+--.
My whole point was to show that it's true what the sales pros on here have been saying. Used car prices have taken a BIG jump :shades:

What a golden opportunity. Take one of those big beasts out in the snow and rescue people out of ditches and snowbanks. Remind them what kind of vehicle came to the rescue and then hand them your card. You won't be able to write the orders fast enough.

Basically since I joined up in Feb 08 so about a year and a half. I was working graveyard and had a lot of spare time. After I switched shifts I read in my down time, which can be considerable some days.
Don't worry, poke fun all you want. I'm pretty easy going (ie: too lazy to put up a fight :P ). When Moo first burst on the scene I was LMAO!
By the time I had to worry about dates it was a 67 Tempest wagon.
This is fun at home. We are heading to Florida on Sunday and the flu is roaring through the family. The two youngest girls have been home all week and have to stay out trough Friday. They at least are cleared for trick or treating the next day and the trip. My wife has it now but she has to come on the trip because I would not otherwise survive. Besides - it's a non-refundable ticket. I am very nervously noting every little cough of my own....
True but the majority of my time here is at work. Just don't tell my employer!
Guess they didn't learn then, now there's a new group of tourists.

I usually would agree but I bought it from my dealer and had my techs inspect it. They were sending it to auction because it has 173,000 miles on it and there isn't much market for that. Little did they know that these things are tanks and this one was very well cared for. I got it for a song so I should be ok.

That one was brutal though. :P
I'm honored! Its going to be awhile till I can get around to War and Peace (though i've always wanted to read it). I just started The Pillars of the Earth based on recommendations from this very forum!
Oh, and thanks for the reminder. I had forgotten about the Pillars of the Earth maybe I can pick that up to read while I hang at a nice resort with a flu infected family instead of hanging out at home with them...
After the snow stops we will be selling replacement vehicles. Snow is good for sales (after the storm). I remember taking a LR3 home the night of a 4 footer - My neighbors looked at me with astonishment as I was the only vehicle moving in the subdivision.
We've got a dealership here that runs that type of scam ad all the time. The dealership doesn't list the cars options or mileage. But, even if they were fully loaded with only a few hundred miles on them, they'd still be a couple thousand overpriced. Crazy bread high on cars going to auction (this was waaay b4 C4C).
I'm glad you're not taking it personally...it was all in fun.
Hope you enjoy Pillars of the Earth. I read a book a week and it is my favorite book, my wife reads 3 books a week and it is her 2nd favorite, #1 for her is the sequel World Without End.

OK, who is going to click the "make an offer button?"
I want to see how that plays out... :confuse:
Seems to be a fair price...this is a very rare model, not too many get to that mileage.

Aw, what if he got you the model with real turn signals and stoplights built in?

Forget turn signals and stoplights. If he ever gets her one bigger than a 206, SMART, or mini, he'll be in even bigger trouble! :P
