Moving on from minivan - what SUV is comparable in space?

I am in the midst of evoking the lemon law with my Chrysler Pacifica. I absolutely loved the car but I am one of the customers that had the car die in the middle of the road- possibly one of the scariest moments. I am not getting a 2018 Pacifica because I don't trust Chrysler right now. I hate the looks of the Sienna and I have a hard time driving the Odyssey (the gas paddle is so hard for me to push…no idea why).
Anyway, I need to find another car with the same space (4 kids and LOTS of long distance road trips). I am at a loss! The Escalade is out of my price range. The 3rd row in the Suburban is not really comfortable - it is like a bench instead of a backseat like a minivan. The Traverse would be perfect but there is too little trunk space (my husband has this car). Any suggestions on what to look at next?

Well you probably need to visit showrooms and test the seats & cargo areas for youself, but I can throw out some possibilities.

    Honda Pilot
    Acura MDX
    VW Atlas
    Lincoln Navigator

I have never looked at the Navigator. I wonder what the price point is for that car. The Pilot and MDX are way too small - the Atlas has the seat space for the kids it just doesn't have the cargo space.

No SUV will have the useful space of a mini-van.

    Seems you need a mini-van. ;)

If only the Pacifica wasn't going through this- it was my favorite mini-van!

What the heck! Try another one!

What are the chances you'll get two lemons in a row? ;)

If you need a genuine 9-passenger people mover with lots of cargo space then your options are quite limited to either vans or the Big Boys. If you kick out Chrysler products, then it's even more limited. But of course you already are experiencing this.

The Navigator is pretty pricey, starting around $72,000 I think.

I think you either have to go with a minivan again or up your game in terms of price.

Sure we all know that Chryslers aren't Hondas, but that's what warranties are for.

I'll throw another suggestion out there - the Kia Sedona. Pretty well equipped, and a warranty like no other. A friend leased one, and loved it.
