    Hello All,

Has anyone checked out the Lexus official site. There has been an across the board price drop on the ES 350. It appears that you can now get an Ultra ES 350 for MSRP $39025.00, that's down from around just over MSRP $43000.00 The economy is clearly driving this. Good time to buy if you can!!!. Check it out!!

Do you think $34k drive out for an 08 without nav is an attainable number right now? I want to know if I should hold strong, or is it all just hopeful wishing.
  • lexusbunnylexusbunny Member Posts: 40
What's the invoice and MSRP of the car you are looking at? If you are not sure, ask them to give you a copy of the spec and check it out on nada.com.

I am still talking to a couple of dealers. There is no way I can get them to come even close to the invoice. They wouldn't even want to talk. My best bet right now is about $1700 over true invoice. The $1500 over invoice I quoted before is with another $515 over the invoice I got from nada.com so really it's $2015 over invoice.

I am trying to have them lower the price a little more and throw in the tint. If I can get it about $900 to $1000 over invoice I will take it.

Have you bought yet Lexus14? What are the numbers you're getting? I'm interested in getting the same exact thing in TX.

We're also debating the 08 if it's a good enough price.

    Thanks in advance!!
  • lexusbunnylexusbunny Member Posts: 40
Where are you looking to buy in TX weniki? That's where I am looking too. I really don't know how to bargain to $1500 under invoice. May be I need some lessons on my negotiating skill... :(
  • beezer86beezer86 Member Posts: 13
I think $34k before tax and tags is a good number. That would have everything except nav and premium plus stuff.
  • wenikiweniki Member Posts: 13
I'm sorry beezer, I'm not quite understanding. I was thinking 34k DRIVE OUT, so after tax and tags. Someone earlier had posted that $31,750 would be a good number to ask for a 2008 with no nav, so after tax that should be around 34. Is this too aggressive?
  • wenikiweniki Member Posts: 13
Anywhere??? We're willing to drive! I've called Houston, Austin, SA & Dallas. Where are you looking? Lexus14 got that 09 drive out quote for $36,800. I wonder what their final number was.
  • phyll97phyll97 Member Posts: 10
I just got quote for 2008 premium plus with chrome wheels for 35,151 in dfw area - is that good deal? It is before ttl and there is a $1k rebate since i financed last vehicle through lexus. so it will basically be $34,151 plus ttl.

Hi, I am in the bay area looking for an 08 ES with Navi & Ultra Luxury Pkg. What's the OTD price I should be expecting? Thanks a lot.
  • lexusbunnylexusbunny Member Posts: 40
I am in Houston and I called Houston, DFW and Dallas. $36,800 OTD!!!! That is crazy! I need to read his post.

lexus14 - can you provide name and contact person for the dealer you got the amazing deal from? thanks a bunch!!!!!
  • wenikiweniki Member Posts: 13
I think that's a bit high for the 08... BUT that's just my personal opinion and I don't have numbers to back me up yet. My max for an 08 today (end of month Oct) would be no more than $35 drive out.

I did read however that even if you get the car at invoice price the dealerships are getting an additional $1000 cash from lexus (so don't feel bad) + whatever other numbers.
  • lexusbunnylexusbunny Member Posts: 40
You mean $35K drive out for a car with no package and no upgrades right?

I read that I should be able to get at least $1500 under invoice even for a 09 model. But I can tell you they laugh me at my face even when I offer $200 over invoice and call me being unfair. Oh well...
  • wenikiweniki Member Posts: 13
I was thinking $35k with premium plus package (no nav). Invoice on that is around 33k + ttl = approx $35k. That's a little under invoice, which for the 08 isn't horrible. Considering that's not even $1500 under invoice. Just to clarify, phyll97 was asking for the 08 though.

On the 09, I think the 36k price that lexus14 got would be fair (still really interested what the final price was).
  • wenikiweniki Member Posts: 13
Yeah, I'm not getting much luck...guess we're waiting till next month or December. I had someone in austin quote me $37 OTD for an 09 (no nav).

Keep me posted on how your experience goes!
  • newgsnewgs Member Posts: 29
    Weniki,

Try carsdirect.com. Just plug in your zip code. The last time I checked, their price is really very competitive... certainly nothing like 1,500 over invoice.

I found the dealerships in Houston were not willing to deal at all when I bought last year. Also tried San Antonio and they were very high to start with. I got the best deal at North Park in Plano. Good luck - you just need to do your homework and know what you are talking about so you can deal.
  • lexusbunnylexusbunny Member Posts: 40
Ok this is what I got today and I think I am going for it.

I asked for $37,500 (including tint and pin stripe) + TTL. The invoice for the car is $36,610 (not counting some $515 which all dealers add to when they give me their invoice). With the tint and pin stripe work being ~ $400, I guess I am paying about $500 over invoice now, or just the "dealer invoice" if you count he $515. They have to order the car for me because the color combination I want is not readily available in most regions. I guess if I am more flexible on the color, I might be able to get a better deal. But I figure if I pay this much for a car and keep for a while, might as well get what I want exactly.

I know I am probably paying more than a lot of people pay but I am quite done with all the negotiating and talking and being called rediculous when I suggested anything close or under invoice. I am planning to pay the deposit to have the car ordered. Thanks for all your help!

BTW this is by far the lowest offer I get and this is from Park Place in Dallas. I live in Houston so I will not be able to take advantage of the 4 free oil change that come with it which really, cost about $240 + tax over 1.5 year.

First thanks to Nightowl and others for sharing some helpful info here.

We bought a 2008 ES350 today, premium+wood wheel+bluetooth+ ..., no navi, MSRP $37,520, Invoice $33,168, we paid $32 grands + TTL. We are very happy with the deal, expecially we got our favor color combination (dark blue/tan, quite hard to find in 2008s). How do you think? We are in the Bay Area and bought from Magnessen Lexus.
  • wenikiweniki Member Posts: 13
LexusBunny - I completely understand the frustration with negotiating here in TX. We're going to try again at the end of Nov & Dec. CONGRATULATIONS though on getting a number you're happy with, and thank you so much for sharing the numbers (it really helps). I'll remember to try Park Place next month.

TuckTurn - That's a great deal in my opinion! If only we lived in cali too... you guys just seem to get the best prices by far. Hope you enjoy the new car!
  • nightowl76nightowl76 Member Posts: 10
    Tuckturn,

That's a great deal, congratulations! I found the Magnussens guys most flexible and it seems like you had a good experience too. Did you get a chance to check out the 09's? I haven't got on this forum lately...just wondering how much the 09's are selling for in the Bay Area.

Its been a couple of months since I bought the ES 08 and I love my car :).

    Happy driving!
  • lexusbunnylexusbunny Member Posts: 40
Thanks Weniki - now I can concentrate on fighting my morning sickness and sit back + relax in between throw ups and wait for my new car to arrive... :)

Meanwhile I got another call from Sewell Dallas this morning after agreeing on the deal with Park Place. The sales said he doesn't undserstand how Park Place can be selling me the car at that price because they will be losing money, and he reasure that there is no way the dealer is paying below invoice. I am just happy that the I don't have to deal with this anymore...

Good luck everyone else! I am done!!! :shades:

Agreed for 398 above NADA invoice . MSRP 41385/ invoice 36,442. Deal is for 36800.+ 5% Mass Tax+ Tag+ Doc 149. There was another dealer who called to offer $300 less than this, but by that time I paid an advance and also this dealer is very close to my house. So if you are around Boston you can get 09 ES350 for close to Invoice and in some cases couple of hundreds below invoice.

I live in south east part of the
US and am looking for a 2009 ES350.

I am negotiating one with $39,070 offer for a car
with $41,600 list price (includes $6450 of options.)

The price does not include a doc fee of $326 or state taxes, or Tag transfer fee.

Is this a good deal? If not how
    much should I offer?

Thanks for your help in advance.
  • tuckturntuckturn Member Posts: 5
    Hi weniki,

Yes the internet sale manager in Magnessen is friendly and quite easy to deal with. Our deal was a pretty straight forward one.

They do have a lot of 2009 ES's in stock now, but they don't offer such a deep price cut like the 2008's. For instance, a simularly equiptted 09 asked $2,000+ over the price we paid for our 08. They want to sell all 08s soon - in fact they don't have many left. Choices are limited. We are very happy of our car. I hope you enjoy your car, too!

I had the opposite success with sewell fort worth giving me a better deal than park place grapevine. FYI, my last lexus (which was totalled two weeks ago in a wreck)was from Park Place - as i remember it was only one free oil change so don't beat yourself up over missing out on that.

still looking for info on this 2008 or 2009 with Nav
  • lexus14lexus14 Member Posts: 4
Sorry out of pocket, The price (36 800 otd) was fm the internet person at Sewell in Dallas. That price was with the premium plus package and sat radio and included the $1000 loyalty incentive. haven't brought yet just listed my 07 lexus.
  • emedwayemedway Member Posts: 17
Best quoted price in MA is $1,000 below invoice for Ultra. I'm not a former ES owner, but was told the way they could offer below invoice was to say I was a former owner to obtain the $1,000 loyalty credit. Not sure about that logic, but that's what I was told. I actually was seeking a 2008 Ultra, but pickings are slim with regard to color choices and was only offered $2,000 below invoice for a 2008.

Any better pricing seen in MA for 2009 ES with or without Ultra?
  • fatwhalefatwhale Member Posts: 9
So you're able to get a 09 ES with Ultra & Navi for $1000 below invoice (with loyalty rebate). If so I guess that's not so bad.
  • emedwayemedway Member Posts: 17
I've read a few posts suggesting folks bought these off eBay at $200 with a face value of $750 and that dealers accept these as a form of payment on your purchase or lease of a new 2008/9 Lexus. Does anyone know if these are truly legitimate and if any Lexus dealer as rejected these as a form of payment?

    thanks
  • scraw33scraw33 Member Posts: 13
Used the forum to research what people were negotiating and I believe it helped me out. We found last night that the Dealer in Pleasanton would accept 100 under invoice on 09's which was MSRP of 42K would take 36.9K. We opted for an 08 Premium Plus w/Navi that MSRP'd for 40.2K for 33K. Thought this would help if your interested in an ES. We dealt with the internet sales manager, eric who is quite a character.
  • fatwhalefatwhale Member Posts: 9
That's great info since I am looking for a 08 with Premium Plus & Navi as well. Does the 33K offer include the $1000 Lexus loyalty rebate? Furthermore, what kind of interest rate you're able to get from Lexus financing? Thanks.
  • scraw33scraw33 Member Posts: 13
This was our first Lexus, and the salesman we were working with insisted that the dealersip quoted the Loyalty rebate which I denied consistently. This was a straight-up offer with no haggling. 35.7 otd. We used the credit union for 4.89% for 66 months. Hope this helps!
  • fatwhalefatwhale Member Posts: 9
Thanks so much for the info. It's really helpful. Would you mind telling me which credit union did you get that rate from? I asked couple dealerships and they quoted me 5.89% for 60 months. Thanks.
  • deuces74deuces74 Member Posts: 11
Did you car includes the HID's? It is like a $652 option according to nada.com
  • scraw33scraw33 Member Posts: 13
Schools financial is still listed today at 4.89% it's in the Sacramento Area.
  • lexusbunnylexusbunny Member Posts: 40
The lowest I found so far is a local credit union at east of Houston in La Porte. 4.7% for 25 to 72 months (with another 0.25% discount for auto deduction every month).

    http://www.beaconfederalcreditunion.org/rates/loans.php

You have to either live or work in La Porte though.

    Hi krishnav

Congratulations for successfully negotiated the good deal! And I envy you very much!

I have been negotiating with a local dealer for a 2009 ES450 but could not get a good deal like yours.

So, do you mind my asking that: "Could you supply supporting documents, i.e. transaction papers -
with your personnal info 'blacked out' - that I can use to negotiate with my dealer?" I would understand it perfectly if you are unable to do so. But if you could "go forward", we could communicate with email, if that is acceptable to you.

Regardless, I thank you very much for your time...
  • lexpaullexpaul Member Posts: 40
    Hello LexBunny,

That's an excellent rate. Anything under 5% is very good and even 5% is not bad at all. I have not found anything under 5% for up 72 months and that's at Geico FCU. My target date to purchase is the last week in December. The dealers in ATL are still somewhat high. With the 2008 almost gone, I'm looking at a 2009 (ES wNav), hoping to get close to invoice 37k.
  • chintubajajchintubajaj Member Posts: 3
Scraw33, would you be able to send me some kind of document which I can use to negotiate at my local lexus dealers (33K with Nav for 08 ES350). (you can of course wipe out your personal info).

If its ok, you can send me @ my name at gmail

Please let me know.. thanks for your help.

Scraw - Congrats... In the bay also looking for this model. What color did you go with? Did Pleas Dealer have more 08's on the floor?
  • xierxier Member Posts: 99
Hey Truck - what kind of inventory did Magnes's have on hand? Looking for similar setup but w/nav.

Thax and Congat's on your new 350.

I called Lexus Customer Relations and she said the blank certificates on ebay are NOT valid.

Hello everyone. I am looking to buy a 2008 ES 350 which MSRP is $42595. I am trying to figure out what would be a good price to pay for this car. I am hoping to buy from Sewell in Fort Worth. I would also like to know if anybody has had problems with their service department.
  • lexpaullexpaul Member Posts: 40
The dealer invoice for an 2008 ES is $36486.00. I'm assuming premium plus w/nav. That is a good number to start you negotiations. Since most dealers are trying to get rid of their 08 models, I think a good price would be no more than $37500. Make the offer and stick to your guns.
  • toothdudetoothdude Member Posts: 14
    Hello all,

Earlier this week I went in to negotiate on the car listed above in the DFW, Texas area.
The best I could get was 39500 out the door.
They wouldn't apply the $1000 rebate from lexus since I was paying cash on the car.

What are your thoughts on the price?
    Could I do better?

By the way, the internet process with the dealers is a joke. They won't even give you a number to work with unless you come in to the dealer.

    Thanks everyone for your help.
  • lexusbunnylexusbunny Member Posts: 40
Toothdude...Did you talk to Sewell FW? I live in Houston and I have called around 3 dealers in the DFW areas. I didn't go up there at all and all the negotiations were done through the phone and emails. I already looked at the car in Houston so I didn't want to drive up there just to talk to them, esp I know the color combo I want is not available in the south region.

I think it really depends on what you feel like paying. I negoitated mine about $500 above invoice (the nada.com invoice so I am not counting the $515 they usually put in their invoice, otherwise I will be paying just invoice). I feel that it is reasonable to me and I didn't really go another step to negotiate what some said - like $1,500 under invoice. Besides, the color combo I want is not readily available and they have to order it for me through another region (takes 30 to 60 days). I am not paying for any freight either. So I feel I can live with that price and so I went for it.

    Hope this helps. :P
