This is the exact RX350 I just bought. I paid $44,000.

Push back on any dealer fees. You should pay $44,000 plus state tax for this vehicle.

Oh excellent. So you own the exact car 2013 AWD Fully-loaded Lexus RX 350 that I'm considering.

So two things: 1) I don't know if you also had the Lexus Loyalty $1k off. If you didn't, that means (all things the same) I could go down to $43k for the car. This would put me at $6500 off the $49,565 total MSRP.

    2) And I saw in your post over here that you bought end of August. I'm now hitting end of November. Perhaps it being 3 months later means that it's possible to take even more off?
  • saz25saz25 Member Posts: 152
Yes, mine was also around MSRP of $49,500+.

    1) Since this price is so low, I don't know if they would also give you the $1000 loyalty. But its worth a try. Let us know how it goes. Maybe you can get then to agree to $44,000 then tell them you'd like the extra $1000 for loyalty. I think that if you tell them upfront about the loyalty they might tell you the price is $45,000, then they subtract the $1000. Better to wait till you agree on a price first.

    2) You may be able to do better now since the car has been out for a few months. Also, I bet you have more Lexus dealers near you than I have near me (NH/MA). I contacted 5 I think over a 75 mile radius. The one I bought from happened to be 50 miles away, but I didn't even walk in to their showroom until we agreed to a price over the phone. I wasn't about to drive 100 mile round trip just to start negotiations. Maybe California has more. That way you can play one against the other.

    Good luck.

Thanks for all the info Steve. Right now, it's really looking like the 2013 Acura RDX w/ AWD and Tech is going to happen. I went there yesterday and they were willing to knock another grand off the price taking it down to $37,615, but the real big deal was that they were willing to give me $19,500 for my 2008 IS 350. First they came back with $19k, but when I gave resistance, it became $19.5k.

When I had taken that IS to carmax in mid Oct they said they would give $17k. I had that set as my baseline and took it to a further away than usual Lexus dealer a few days later (who I've been working with since) and they said $16.5k at first then during the convos, we got into $17k-$18k Max being possible, but not guaranteed until a further convo between the managers.

So w/ the $RDX priced at $37.5k-ish, I'm not just $5500 away from the best case scenario of an RX at $43k (the number discussed earlier), but further because of the trade-in values.

My plan today is to make one last ditch effort visit to the Lexus dealer closest to me. This is where I bought my new 2008 IS 350 from almost 4 years ago, this is where I get most of my maintenance done (if it's not something I can do myself or get done effectively from elsewhere). If I can get the salesman, who sold me my IS, hopefully he'll be pushing hard since I knows I'm able to buy.

The KBB on my IS for trade in is $21.5k for excellent conditiion. So while the $19.5 from Acura is amazing and best I've seen, there's still a "supposed" $2k more I can try and reach for.

If Lexus gives me that $2k, bringing my trade-in to $21.5k (or better), and hits the $43k price we discussed (or lower), then the RX will be a done deal. Otherwise, it'll be the RDX.

If anyone here has been able to get a 2013 Fully loaded w/ everything AWD RX for $44k or lower, I'd love if you could share your purchase order w/ me (w/ your sensitive info blurred out of course). If the RX works out for me, I'd gladly be willing to share my purchase order with any of you guys to help bring your prices down.
  • saz25saz25 Member Posts: 152
Personally I wouldn't go back to the dealer. I'd do the negotiating on the phone. If you do go in to the dealer, insist that the sales rep brings over his manager. Then make your case. Tell them the bottom line. You will buy the RX today if they meet your numbers.

You can also call other Lexus dealers in the area. As I've said, I bought mine from a dealer 50+ miles away because he was $750 cheaper than the guy down the street (5 miles away).

I considered the 2012 Acura MDX (to replace my 2002 MDX) when I bought my RX. The 2013 RX was a little more than the 2012 MDX, but I liked the Lexus RX better. I still love it after 2000 miles now. I owned an Acura for 12 years.

The problem you may be running in to is that if you push hard to get a low price (like we all do) on the new car, many dealers will "take it off" when you trade in by giving you a lower trade in price. Tell them exactly where they need to be price-wise and you'll buy today.

Having said that, I think to ask for exactly what KBB says AND $43,000 for the RX, could be a bit of a stretch. I hope you get it though. In any event, you must talk to the manager or general manager. I always force the issue so I get management involved. They can always go deeper than a typical sales rep on price.

    Good luck.

Thanks again for your quick responses Steve. I'm just going to head there in person because it's by my house and this is sort of a last ditch, let's see what happens effort. In all honesty, I'd be fine w/ the Acura RDX. There's a part of me that also just wants to get back the maximum possible for my '08 IS 350 just to inflate my Cost of Ownership stats for my own ego. I just want to make sure nothing higher for my trade-in is possible. but I'll get the managers involved early to show I'm serious.

I really, really wish it was possible that people were pulling 10%-12% off MSRP off the F-Sport because if I could do $51,925 - 12% of $51,925 = $45,694 - $1k Lexus Loyalty = $44,694, I think I'd totally go for this car if I could get the max $21.5k for my trade-in.

But as I mentioned, the Rockville Lexus dealer was only willing to do $725 off the MSRP because they sell too good. The best price I've seen so far is what was discussed by msyman on Monday for the $47,995.

I don't think it's worth it to even discuss the F-Sport. I'll keep it simple and discuss the fully loaded non-Fsport 2013 AWD RX 350. I think the most discount that can be done is on that.

Does Lexus even make "base" model RX350's anymore? The only inventory within 500 miles of my home has some package adding at least $5k to the car. Lowest MSRP I've seen is $44.5k, yet Lexus.com lets me build one for under $40.

Would that have to be a special order to get one without all the unwanted features?
  • "Base" = Premium, I think. I wasn't able to get one in Texas, which is controlled by Gulf States Toyota. You can probably get one w/ reverse camera, audio screen, heated seats, 19 in wheels, premium leather, wood trim and shift knob, for about 43.5 from Sewell in Dallas. :confuse:

Looking to purchase the exact vehicle from Richmond. Hit a wall at $46,565. This does not include the $1,000 Lexus cash as we own a 199 RX 300. Any suggestions. They seem to have dug in.
    The msrp is $49,565.
    Thanks!

We just picked up a new 2013 Claret Mica RX350 from Lindsay Lexus, and really enjoyed the experience.

    Here are the details:
Dealer: Lindsay Lexus of Alexandria (F. Love)
Car: MSRP: ~$50,200 (remote engine start, cross bars, nav + the works) No Mark Levinson & Luxury package because then you have to special order.
Our price w/out Taxes and Title: $44,150 (They were able to use $2,000 in coupons - one of which is described below)
    OTD: $46,170 in VA

We did have to finance w/ Lexus to take adv of a $1000 coupon (1.9% for 60 months)- which can be refinanced after 30 days.

    Happy hunting and happy holidays!

It didn't work out for me and I bought the RDX. The Lexus dealer I had been talking to from the start I sent an email pretty much saying what I said in the posts above - that I needed this for my car, and this price for the RX for it to work. But I didn't get a clear answer back on "yes, this will work" or "no it can't." It was just a "come in and let's discuss" e-mail.

I then visited the dealer closest to my house and the one I bought my '08 IS 350 new from back in '09. This was the Ace in the hole I was saving - try to figure out what the lowest these dealers would be willing to go, and then go to the place I've bought from and get serviced at regularly. They knew as much as anyone that I could have bought that day.

But that was a mess. I was clear on what I needed, but they just stalled and did a lot of bs-ing around which irritated me. I honestly don't even have a clear answer on what they were willing to give me for my IS or sell their Rx for. I just know they seemed to freak out with what I wanted for my car and what I wanted the RX for.

If I wanted the car between $43k to $43.5k I don't see how that's something to freak out about if so many people here seem to be at $44k or higher. In the post above mine, someone got theirs at $44k w/ some nice (and costly) accessories too. And if Acura's willing to give me $19.5k for my IS 350, I don't know why Lexus of all places was going so low.

Anyways, got the RDX. It's not the best car of the three that I was considering: RDX, RX, and X3. But it's a really nice car, good enough for my needs, and I think a more preferred size for me. And it worked out a lot cheaper especially with my trade-in which was a blessing it seems.

Supposedly a compact SUV is coming from Lexus. The salesperson informed me of this when I emailed him to tell him I went with the RDX. If only that compact SUV was around now.

Anyways, thanks everyone for the help! And I hope I was able to help too.

Well, being out of the country the last week of the month probably did not help my cause. I am certain I could have gotten a dealer to the 11% off MSRP but best we ever hit was 7.6% below (including Lexus coupon). Not having a vehicle to trade in may be hurting me, I'm not sure. But I'm willing to play the waiting game into December and give myself a nice Christmas present. One dealer absolutely refuses to drop his price, saying they couldn't possibly stay in business selling an RX350 for what I want to pay. I called b.s. and told him that I visited his lot last week and noticed the dust on his vehicles, unwillingness to lower his price = cars sitting on a lot gathering dust!

I have read in several previous posts about Lexus of Silver Spring (MD) and have reached out to them. I have potential business trip coming up to that area, I'd be happy to fly 1-way to BWI and drive a new RX350 home if they meet my price. It will cost me one tank of gas. BFD.

Thanks for listening to me vent, I appreciate all the feedback from everyone

Glad you got the RDX, I actually think the RDX drove better than the RX350 (and I test-drove both twice), so if I can't get the RX350 for what I want, I'm willing to go RDX, I think it is a great vehicle and has a lower Total Cost to Own. Congrats!

    Hi
I don't usually do rentals, but based on your numbers if the MSRP was $46,954 and you paid $44,544, that's not a good deal at all.

When you go to lease a car, you negotiate the price of the car just like you were trying to buy it. Remember that.

The Dealer makes money when he leases it to you, and then again..when he gets the car back, and most likely will certify it and make another profit when he sells it to that customer then..

Your monthly lease payment, will be decided basically on the amount off the MSRP you negotiate, at time of lease. If it's a walk-away lease at the end of the term( which most are), the residual bring back value the dealer puts on it is very subjective...just like when he takes in a buyers trade in with a sale. That's his problem, not yours.

Go for big discount OFF that MSRP, and as the previous person here said, where you are sitting now, is NOT a good discount for a lease or a sale.

Good luck. Plently of cars out there now, and your dealer wants to move cars.

Richmond in what state? (VA? CA?) Headings makes it more confusing...

Anyway, a bit of an update, I'm on east coast, hit a wall few weeks ago for 2013 RX350 approx 6-7% off MSRP from local dealer, did what was suggested and went out 150-200 miles from local dealer, started e-mail/phoning dealers to get someone to bite on a starting price better than local, got a bite at around 10%, worked 4-5 dealers some more by e-mail and got close to 11% or so by e-mail, visited 2 dealers, final deal was 11.8% off MSRP of approx 47,000. I had to provide e-mail printed (forwarded) proof that a dealer was willing to deal at this "low" price. Then got manager to promise to "beat" deal by 200-300. No processing fee. Did same at 2nd dealer that "beat" the prior one by 200. I could've gone to 3rd and 4th dealer and worked another 300-500 off but didn't want to push my luck and 2nd dealer had the color/options in stock so we signed. Also factoring in travel, and time for negotiations, etc, would rather spend time w/ family during the holiday than run around. Saved 1200 versus if I had just taken the local dealer's best offer. My goal was 11-12% off MSRP, 15% would be nice but I'll leave that to the professional.. :P. Key is they needed proof that some dealer was willing to give you that price, and you have to play it so that if dealer you are at can earn your business if he "beats" the prior guy by a few 100's. I "smuggled" a quote out w/ my cell phone camera, NO dealer will let you walk out w/ a piece of paper w/ their numbers on it as they know you'll shop around and get the next guy to "beat" his price... I know what to do next time I shop for a new car....
Forgot to add, price off MSRP was after 1K loyalty discount, but tried to negotiate price without mentioning loyalty first...

Just leased a Lexus RX350 on Nov 30. Here's the deal.

    MSRP - $48,494
    Negotiated Price - $43,095
Upside down on trade in - $1,519
    Residual - 61%
    MF - 0.0009
    Monthly payment w/o tax - $504.45
No money out the door (dealer paid first payment, registration, tax, etc.)

Wow - congratulations! This seems like a great deal -- more than $5k off MSRP. Which area/dealership?

Could you please provide more details on the vehicle: AWD or FWD, what packages etc.? I am in the market for a 2013 RX 350 AWD (Minneapolis/St. Paul area), and so far have been quoted a residual of 60% and MF of 0.00150 for the month of December. Yours seem better!

    Enjoy your new ride :)

Just started looking...At local dealer, saw this particular vehicle(one of the color combos we liked, also has Navi) that the salesman called a loaner. He explained that this is what they use to loan out & then when mileage reaches around 10,000 mi it is put out for sale (has 11,601 mi) We test drove it & also looked at used Lexuses, '10s & one '09. Back home I looked up this '12 on CarGuru & found that it has been there since mid-Oct (53 days) started at $38994, five days later went to $43998 & is currently listed at $42990. It is listed as certified, but why this price change?! Does it have to do with dealer incentive ($2400) on 2012 models & certification, or what?? :confuse:

Yeah I prefer the RDX's drive too - it's more zippy. The size is better for me. As I said before, if only Lexus had their compact SUV out now.
  • dinomandinoman Member Posts: 68
Zero Down is not anything to be happy about. You can get at least 4500-5500 off MSRP. When you combine that with the current interest rates(money factor) and residuals, you will come out with a great lease payment and can elect to be as much or as little down as you like. Walk away from this dealer and find another one willing to negotiate.
  • lexus_lady_12lexus_lady_12 Member Posts: 4
There are only 2 dealerships within an hr drive from me. One of them really is not fun to deal with. The other one told me that for $0 down on a lexus rx 350 2013 there is not much they can do. I heard the same sentiment from other Lexus Rx 350 buyers. Wanted to see if other had better luck in the North West.
  • saz25saz25 Member Posts: 152
Didn't you first negotiate a price before you got into discussion on financing, downpayments, etc.?

If you mention up front that you want zero down then you made a big mistake.

Maybe start over with another sales rep. Again, giving too much info to the sales rep costs you in the long run.

Hey everyone, I am in NJ. I have a price on RX AWD it has the premium package with a remote starter (no nav). MSRP $46610, the price being offered is $43000 plus the 1000 loyalty Doc fees are $270 no hidden fees or nothing. I also have a trade in that is not a Lexus that I am getting in the mid/low range of its black book value. What do you think is the price reduction worth the buy or should I wait until month end to shop again. It makes no difference when I get it, I just don't want to overpay. Anyone have bought one of these in the area? Thank you happy holidays.

I'll take those rims off your hands! I'm finding that dealers in the Boston area don't have those 19" rims in stock on any model with Nav and comfort. Grrrrrah
  • srizvi1srizvi1 Member Posts: 265
That price seems awfully close to what a 2013 RX350 w/ Nav is going for. I'd make them discount the hell out of it because it's a loaner and nobody cares how they drive loaners. They are like rentals, but a notch higher because it's at least Lexus Clientèle.

    Southern California/Newport Lexus

FWD with navigation, moonroof, heated and ventilated seats, upgraded leather, moonroof, 19 inch allows, parking assist, roof rack, and back up camera.

Your MF is definately too high. I think it's 0.0010 for December. I would shoot for at least $5K off MSRP, although I'm not sure the competition in Minn/StPaul.

    Good luck with your negotiations!

Okay I was able to get a better price at the same place by going to other dealers and getting a similar quote. The packages on the 2013 AWD RX are Comfort, Premium with blind spot, audio, tow, accessory, park assist remote starter. $42,000. I will close this deal on Saturday. The MSRP 47,950. The Remote starter was a big part of the negotiations and I did not want to pay for it and in the end I did not, since the car msrp never changed.
  • dinomandinoman Member Posts: 68
I have tried 6 different dealers. None of them are willing to take more than 4500 off msrp. I'm getting a little discouraged. May end up leasing a mercedes ML instead. How were you able to get 6k off msrp?
Can you send me the name of the dealer and salesman? I would be willing to travel for that price.

@ by dinoman : Email me at pokerist110@yahoo.com I will pass the information over to you. It is definitely worth the visit. I went to 4 dealers and their had the best price. More important the only fee that I paid was $264 (no prep, no etching, no credit report fee or any other fees). Email me there and I will pass the information over to you. Dont go for a Mercedes you will be disappointed. My wife cant believe the difference between the 2 cars.

I would really be interested in the dealer's name where you got this deal. I made a verbal committment on Sat. 12/15 /12 to purchase a RX 350 FWD that was equipped the way that I wanted it. The MSRP is $47,810 and he will sell it for $44,000 plus tags and tax. ( no trade). I had talked to the salesman and made an offer of $42,888 but he essentially blew it off.
After reading you post, my gut feeling about paying too much were confirmed. I'm supposed to go to the dealer tomorrow--Mon. 12/17/12 to get the deal but after reading your post and others ,I don't think I'm going to do it.

McGrath Lexus in chicago was willing to sell the car for 1000 below invoice and another 1000 off for loyalty. It was basically 4000 off MSRP on a RX F sport. I walked away from the deal because posts on this forum convinced me that I should have another 2000 discount.

I am thinking the same thing. The mistake that I made was trying to make an offer that I deamed to be fair. I seemed to have made an offer he couldn't refuse. I hate to go back on my word given over the phone but after calaulating the MD 6% sales tax and titling fees-I'm have to do just that.
I also wanted to find out about the particulars of the one pay leasings programalthough leasing probably isn't for me.
  • saz25saz25 Member Posts: 152
Tell the sales rep that if he won't agree to your $42,888 price then you want to talk to a manager. First rule in car buying. Never do the deal with only a sales rep. You need to offer a price low enough such that he gets the manager involved.

Personally I'd offer $42,000 even, to the manager. $42,888 is too high for that model/package.
    Steve
  • cec7cec7 Member Posts: 11
Thanks for the response. The $42,000 is exactly what I said to my wife this AM. I plan on calling the sales manager first thing Mon. (12/17/12 ) and tell him that ,although I did agree over the phone to the $44,000,I've had second thoughts because of the additional taxes and tags ( adds about $3000) which I hadn't realized were so high, and that I will continue to look around for a deal that meets my needs. If he agrees-I'll buy the car on Mon.
There was a reason that I didn't feel comfortable with the deal--even thogh I made the offer. If I can't get what I want --I don't need the car.

The manager would take $43000 which is 9% off of the MSRP. Nice vehicle but it didn't have a couple of things that I wanted so I decided to look for a vehicle that have a exactly what I want.
If I'm in that price range, should get what I want not what they offer.
Can't decide on an AWD or a FWD. Also, the rx350 that I drove had more wind noise than I expected. ( 19" wheels ,FWD ). I drove another rx350 ( AWD,18" wheels ) and the wind noise didn't seem to be as bad. Could be me since their quality control is probably pretty good.
