Around June, all the RXs began arriving with ENFORM installed. This bumped the price up $450. This would explain part of the price difference between two otherwise identical ones on the lot. You also need to pay attention to whether it is the 2WD (9220) or AWD (9224) models as these have different prices too. The later often includes a towing package as well depending on your region.

All of you quoting prices paid should be sure to specify whether your OTD price includes tax, license, and doc fees. If it does, it's impossible to compare region to region because all these rates will be different.

What was the actual price before tax, fees, etc? Was a trade involved?

Purchased a 2010 AWD rx350. MSRP was $48,669. Paid $44,384 before taxes and fees.

I shopped three cities (in person visits, San Diego, Phoenix and Las Vegas). The difference in how we were treated and how much the dealership would deal was striking.

Worst experience (how we were treated) was Bell Lexus in Phoenix. Specifically, it was obvious from the time we walked into the door that we were not the usual Lexus customer (i.e. trying to negotiate best deal and not taking their automatic $2000 discount off of MSRP). Several times the sales rep brought up concerns regarding identity theft as they made several requests for our identification (email address, driver lic numbers, two requests for home address verification). Numerous references to "those people" who only purchase and drive "domestic" cars (ironically, they would include Toyota and Nissan in that discussion). We were in the show room for about three hours. After about 2 hours, we had to ask for water. They brought two paper cups of water with ice in them.

Lexus of Las Vegas treated us ok but would not budge from $2250 off MSRP.

Kearny Mesa Lexus (San Diego), treated us very well (Ask for Pat) , but would not agree to come down to my request of $4,500 off MSRP.

Regard to Calf dealships, the doc fee's by state regulation is only $55 compared to an unlimited fee by the dealerships in Ariz. Make sure when you are in your final stage of negotiation that inquire about this.

Worst sales rep phrase, "Don't let price get in your way to buy this car" (Pat, Kerny Mesa Lexus).

Biggest mistake a sales rep made: I told the rep what we would pay for the car, minus our trade in. Rep indicated that he had the car, sounded like they could do the deal but, would call back to verify trade in amount. Didn't call back for four days...we were on our way to purchase our Lexus from another dealer as he left the message on our home phone...he had my cell #. Turned out we saved about $1500 buying the car at another dealership (Lexus of Chandler).

We ended up purchasing our Lexus from Superstition Springs Lexus (Mesa Arizona). Contacted the internet sales rep (James). Did all the negotiation via phone and email. They were able to provide a trade in price for our car ( we supplied vin #, Milage, general condition and a few pics). Walked in, everything was ready for us to sign. They did just what they said they would. One of the best car buying experiences!

Just a few notes: Superstition Springs was by far the highest on their doc fees ($689). However, they provided us a trade in allowance that was significantly higher than anyone else (by a few thousand). This more than made up the difference in the higher doc fees and not getting quit the $4500 off the invoice.

Moral to the buying experience; take your time, do your homework, know what you want and what you will pay, shop several different stores, and please don't buy the extended warranty (undercoating, paint seal etc.) that the finance manager will try to sell you at the end of the deal (yes, Superstition Springs Lexus tried to sell us the glass coat paint protection at the end of our deal).

    2010 AWD RX 350 + Navi + Premium + Comfort+ 12 speaker (mentioned in previous message)
    MSRP:$47,250
Price before tax & tags: $43,294.25
    Dealer processing:$100
    Tax:$1,013.66
    Lic/Doc:$289.00

    Total $44,696.91

Traded in my '08 IS 250 AWD for the KBB excellent condition amount. Took the printout in and said it was contingent on getting that price in trade.

Mostly smooth transaction at Lexus of Towson. Everything was fine until the monthly payment "accidentally" increased by $10 on the contract at signing. Caught it and told them that the deal was for $10 less per month for the 60 months. Minor hiccup, but they eventually "corrected" the mistake and I got the deal we initially agreed upon.

    Confusing...

"Turned out we saved about $1500 buying the car at another dealership (Lexus of Chandler). We ended up purchasing our Lexus from Superstition Springs Lexus (Mesa Arizona)."

Enjoy your RX...I'm waiting for some incentives on 2010 model when 2011 model arrives in Feb-March.

Bell and Arrowhead Lexus seems to be the worst dealers in sales and service and both are owned by the same group, I suppose.

Yea, it is confusing the way I wrote it. What I meant was that the sales rep who waited for four days to get back to me was from Chandler Lexus, We saved about $1500 going with Superstition Springs Lexus. Sorry.

"I'm waiting for some incentives on 2010 model when 2011 model arrives in Feb-March."

The re-designed, 3rd-generation RX came out around April, 2009 as an early 2010 model. However, that does not mean the 2011's will arrive in Feb-March, 2010. Most likely, you won't see them in the showroom until September.

    tmachb3:

Bell Lexus is the same dealer that didn't honor their coupon (see my post above). I have written letters to the BBB and State Attorney General to document my experience there. I ended up purchasing at Lexus of Chandler.

I was told the 2011's would arrive around June or July, not February.

    2010 RX 350 AWD
    Starfire Pearl/Parchment
    Premium
    Backup mirror
    Heated & Ventilated seats
    Wood steering wheel/ shifter trim
    Towing prep package
    All weather mats

    $40550 + 195 doc fee = 40750 OTD

Called several places within a 4 hour drive of the area. Chicago dealerships were not willing to negotiate at all. $1k off msrp. Bought from Plaza in St. Louis and dealt with the typical dealership hassles... Not a very pleasant experience...

Longo Lexus in CA would go down to $40k.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this forum. The information here is invaluable in the purchase/negotiation process.

Just bought a 2010 RX350 FWD from Lexus of Cerritos with the following equipment:

    - Premium package.
    - Heated and ventilated front seats.
    - Wood and leather-trimmed steeling wheel and shift knob.
    - Backup camera (rearview mirror screen)
    - Cross bar
    - Cargo net, cargo mat, wheel lock

MSRP $42,336, final price $38,200 plus TTL with no trade involved. That was a discount of $4,136 from MSRP, not bad for a lightly loaded car. (Had I opted for models with Navigation, I would have got at least $5k off sticker. Reference for those interested.)

I requested quotes via Edmunds from several dealerships in the area, including Longo, Crown (Ontario), Tustin, Park Place (Mission Viejo). Lowest quote was around $38,700.

According to Edmunds, the invoice for this car was about $37,420 (I had to add on items that were not on Edmunds list, including the $450 increase for EnForm, whatever that is.) The invoice claimed by the dealers varies, but generally in the range of $38,500 to $38,770. There was approximately $1,200 unexplained discrepancy with Edmunds. I did not bother to ask to see the invoice, because I believed that would only complicate the negotiation.

As mentioned in my earlier post, I originally wanted it with the Navigation. However, anything with Navi has a sticker price of $47,000+ because other "extra" Lexus loaded on it. I was just not going to spend $5k for a GPS. (Or $4k considering the higher discount I would have received.)

The sales consultant at Lexus of Cerritos was very professional and straight forward. I highly recommend the dealership and the sales consultant.

Got quoted $450 / month (includes 6% tax) for a 48 month lease on 2010 RX 350 RWD with premium package. Quote based on $1500 cap reduction. Any thoughts if this is a good deal?

Any insight to this would be appreciated!

I did make the same purchase this past week same deal, actually I looked at both options with and without the Nav package. The final price with destination charge was $39500 without the nav from 3 dealers and $41,500 with the nav. One dealer showed me the invoice costs (take it that it actual) $39,190 invoice price with destination costs for no Nav and $41,050 for package with the Nav, now the dealer was a neighbor who shared this (wont disclose the dealership). This is in North NJ. The deal was struck over the internet, I saw the invoice price once I had agreed on the price, I said that if I did not see the invoice I would not sign, but once I did regardless of how far I was I would pay the agreed price. Ultimately my trade in was also what captured me and the dealer gave me the guarantee price over the internet. As a customer you should demand what you want. If your trade in is worth between $1000 and $500 tell them that you want the middle value. Right now dealers are eager to strike a deal, a car less on their lot is better than a car seating there. Lastly ask as close to invoice as possible and work through the Internet, I went to Warnock and Bridgewater and was quoted a $1300 more over what I pay, both dealers buldge. Only after working the internet did I get what I wanted to pay. The two dealers that I went to personally were nice, but they did not want to deal, they wanted to make a nice profit while nobody was at their dealership. Thanks to them I got my Lex over $4500 below MSRP. Best of check my dealer recommendation, you will see my rating and you can determine who I selected.

    Regards!

Is this a good quote or can i get more discount?????????

MSRP: $50785 (38650 + Comf package+ 12 speaker + 19" Wheels + Nav + Prem Packg + Tow Prep Pckg + Remote engine start + wood & leather steering wheel + Cargo net, Mat + Headrest Dual Rear DVD Ent)

    OTD Price: Discounted Price off MSRP $47693.35 + Sales Tax: $ 3630 + Doc Fee: $ 152 = $51500

Please share your thoughts on this....Will this be a good buy? or I can get more discount

    Thanks!
  • jtlajtla Member Posts: 388
I think it is a bad deal. Of course this depends on regional market, but you should be able to get at least $5,000 off MSRP for a loaded model like that. Go back to read posts of the last month or two, and you will get an idea what a good buy looks like.
  • cutco760cutco760 Member Posts: 63
If you are paying MSRP price you are giving the dealer money. Here is my suggestion shop online with the best price you have through various dealers in your area and than email them and blind copy the other dealers so that they know that their price is beaten. Keep in mind. Dealer A may pay the same or slightly different invoice price. Invoice prices are generally $5K-7K lower than the MSRP, plus the dealer gets a lots of incentives and pressure to get rid of the car. Lastly do not go to every dealer by face, Lexus dealers offer better deals online instead of people who go there in person. Lastly don;t be shy to go 50 miles away from home, if you can lock in a great price and value for your trade-in. You can get the value for your trade in and decide what you want the dealer should guarantee the minimum. Lastly If I told you that a there is $500-1000 awaiting for you 50 miles from your location would you go? My point dont be shy to travel a little far.

    Hi There,
It's too much to pay $47693.35 for that car, try to deal with them to get aleast $5500 off MSRP, forget about thier invoice, take your time. I just purchased a new one yesterday, got up to $5700 off MSRP, I could get a couple hundred dollars more but my patience was over. Good luck!

This forum is really helpful. Thanks Edmunds.com
  • rparisrparis Member Posts: 368
What was MSRP for the vehicle your purchased? Was a trade involved and what was your approach as $5500 off is about the best I have seen on this forum. Which state is the dealer located?
  • divsdivs Member Posts: 13
I thought it was a good deal but its not seems like. Thanks a ton for the feedback, i am going to go back and try to get atleast $5K off MSRP but not sure how, they not willing to come down, seems like no dealer in IL area (Chicago suburbs)....any approach you can recommend to me..really dont knw how to approach----- when i call them or send internet inquiry they say they will not send any price quote over the internet or will not disclose over the phone and need to come in personally.

    Thanks!

Hi forum! The wife and decided on the 2010 RX over the 2009 MDX. Now, we're going to begin our search for the right price - hoping to get input from the forum. I'll keep everyone updated on our progress. Step 1: Reached out via email inquiry to (5) dealerships in the Orange County/ Riverside County area. What next? I'm hoping to get pricing quotes from each dealer and then narrow down to the top (3) for on-site visits and negotiations. Good plan? Yes/No?
  • rparisrparis Member Posts: 368
Sounds good, but I would review posts on this forum which should be helpful for additional information.

Longfrance - I'm doing the same search as you! Except I've gone out via email and phone to ten dealers in L.A./O.C/Riverside...nothing like being OCD for a simple vehicle purchase (well, actually a lease)!

So far the best pricing and terms have come out of Riverside and I'm sure you already contacted them from your message. No final decision as numbers still coming in.

And I'm waiting to see if next week brings better terms during the Dec-2-Remember promotion.

Good luck and let us know how you do; I will likewise.

Need help guys. I am looking to a buy a 2010 RX FWD (CP, NV, PM, EK, Parking Assit, Tow Prep, Accy Pkg). I am looking at OTD pricing only and I am working with a rather junior salesman over the internet.

He won't budge at 46K OTD. However, I know I can get it for at least a few hundred bucks lower - any experiences at Longo? Any particular salesperson you know that may help in going lower? My particular guy doesn't know me and has only spoken to me over the phone.

message me privately if you have names that I can contact for a purchase.

I've read a lot of reviews on pricing for this vehicle but nothing is better knowing that you got a decent deal. I thought this site was a great source of info for me when purchasing my RX so i wanted to post my experience.
After many emails/calls with dealerships in the past month. The best offer i got was $42K with nav, comf, prem, tow. MSRP is $47,250. This is from a NJ dealership. I also called my local dealership in Queens figuring they would match it, however they could not come near this price. The best they could do was $43,250. The internet was the best way to go. A rep from their internet sales dept. will reach out to you by phone or email. If you are ready to buy they will be a bit more aggressive. At the beginning of my search they quoted me high $43K-$44,500 for the same car and said they couldn't go any lower. If you are looking for a deal. right now might be a good time to strike a deal. It seems there are dealer incentives, and special year end rates for leases and finance rates. Hope this helps you on your purchase.

How much is the final OTD price if you don't mind to share? I am looking at the same thing as you were and I am in So. Cal too.
Another question is did it come with Bluetooth built-in?
    thanks,

That is a great price, but check out my price from Freehold NJ. Nav package for $41.75 K with the engine remote starter. Guys dealers will be more desperate on 11/27 as the month end is nearing. Plus volume at dealers are light (this secret was shared by the dealer) I would wait until at that time. I do agree that the internet will yield the best price. Best of luck I will keep on looking into this forum. Picking mine up on 11/21. Can't wait

    Hi,

Would you mind telling me what is the monthly payment on that car will be for you? Did you put any money down?
I'm planning going to Freehold Lexus (Ray Catena) this Saturday (11/21).
    Thanks.

Wally - pricing started to come in... 42k is low, 43.6k high. Will post once everything comes in. I've heard that December to Remember is already going on... that could be dealer-speak though... will try to find out more.
  • jtlajtla Member Posts: 388
I don't have the paperwork with me for the exact amount, but there is only a $55 doc fee by the dealer. The rest are all government imposed, including 8.75% sales tax and approx. $500 DMV fee.

The config I got (w/ Premium, heated seats, rearview backup monitor, wood-trimmed steering wheel) does have Bluetooth built-in, but it does not import phone book automatically. That function seems to be part of the Navigation package.
  • lynny1lynny1 Member Posts: 3
I got the offer from Ray Catena in Freehold, NJ. OTD price was $46,175. Breakdown:
    $42,000 cost ( includes destination charge )
    $250 ( doc fees)
    $250 ( estimated registration cost )
    $3675 (NYC tax )
  • cutco760cutco760 Member Posts: 63
These are the dealers that gave me the best prices in NJ. Please notice that you shuld use the Internet, they give a better price on the internet than in person. Let them know that you expect their best offer. 4.5%/48mths should be your minimum demand if your FICO is above 740 (know that before you go). Get the guarantee in writing for both price and if you have a trade, get the dealer to consider your minimum trade. My vehicle trade value was $11.8K got $12.6K, the best day to go car buying Black Friday (this was shared by the dealer about this little unknown fact). HEre is what most people should know, 5% of MSRP is okay 7% is good and 9+ is a great deal

Tri county: Be sure to secure your interest rate before signing anything, Dont sign anything until you have your price, rate and terms. $39.5K with automatic remote start which is $450 alone. Avoid the etching by negotiating the $198 off on the final price. MSRP no nav 43,715

Ray Catena Freehold.39K (no nav) $41.5K with Nav. I got 10% off there the distance was the ultimate deterring factor. MSRP no nav $43,800
  • cutco760cutco760 Member Posts: 63
Do not go there, over the Internet you should talk to Joe Flores, tell him that you have a deal and want him to match it. You should know that the Lex with nav was sold recently for $41.5K to $42K. Tell him to go to him manager Joe Cohan and get the price that other customers have received. Do not go you will waste your time, over the net you can get the best deal and have them email it over to you. I also suggest that you go on Black Friday if you really want them to match your terms. If your Fico is above 740 you should get a rate of 4.5% for 48Mths.
  • lynny1lynny1 Member Posts: 3

Was looking to purchase '10 RX350 MSRP of $44000 and trade 2008 IS250 AWD w/ 22000 miles. Would only drop $2k off of MSRP and offered me $25,000 for trade. Would not budge and essentially take it or leave it. Repeat customer as well. Going to look at MDX.

Is there really such a thing as Black Friday Sales for cars? I know people go to Walmart and BestBuy on Black Friday. Can we really get a good deal on that day?
  • pschiffepschiffe Member Posts: 373
Don't know about Black Friday, but for whatever reason; the last few days of the month are always a good time to buy. Perhaps it has to do with quotas, incentives or floor plan but no matter, usually a good time to make your best deal. My 2¢.

    Pete :)
  • rparisrparis Member Posts: 368
I do not think dealers get a better price on Black Friday from Lexus. Dealers, however, may be a bit more aggressive in their pricing since it is probably a slow time of the year for sales. As I understand, if a dealer sells more vehicles, their future allotment can be affected. The more they sell monthly the more vehicles they receive. So,again, as I understand it, if they need a few more vehicles to sell more than a previous month, a dealer may sell for a bit less, thus a short term loss for a long term gain.
