But, if you don't live in the same household, and the car isn't in his name, it seems doubtful you would qualify (so, I guess I have some idea)

The way they add up taxes and fees is sort of wrong, for Florida.
But, we'll try to straighten it out.

We'll assume the money upfront pays the first payment and fees, plus upfront taxes on the rebate/acq.fee/doc fee
Leftover money will be applied as CAP reduction.
(assuming 7% tax rate)

$1087.75 fees
$383.25 upfront tax ($4750 rebates + $725 taxable fees)
$233 first payment
$478 CAP reduction

$21713 adjusted CAP cost.

I get $226.50 + 7% tax = $241/mo.

That's $8/mo over.

I think the discrepancy is an incorrect tax computation by Edmunds.

One other thing I'd look out for: I've never seen a Florida dealer with a $75 doc fee. Usually, it is 10X that.
