When I look at the 2018 forum, it appears as though Chysler pulled the leasing programs at the end of Feb. Any thoughts that this would happen this year as well?

Newbie question. If I get dealership to bring down payment to $0 for the price I want to pay on a lease, is it normal to pay first month, dealer fees, dmv fees etc at signing and not haven’t them rolled in?
trying to figure out if 2019 4x4 grand Cherokee altitude at $400/mo is a good deal (36/15) if I pay the $2000+ at signing.

The 2018 forum is for 2018 model Jeeps. Not the year 2018. When you see that 2018 model lease programs have ended, that JUST happened. Not, last year at this time.

2019 model lease programs will continue through the calendar year, at least.

You can structure the upfront however you want. How they make the offer is up to them.

When they say it's $400/mo, with ZERO down payment, you have to ask them to explain exactly what that means.

It's normal to pay first payment and DMV fees upfront. You can roll taxes and acquisition/dealer fees into the payment, or pay them upfront, if you wish.

If you are in MD (?), you pay sales tax on the full selling price of the vehicle, even on a lease.

    What is the MSRP?
    Selling price?
How much exactly Due at Signing?

    Hello,
May I have the MF and RV for a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 luxury II group with 20 inch wheels. Zipcode for registered vehicle is 27806. However may lease in 11207 zipcode.

Also, can a dealer charge DMV fees that are 5-6 times the actual amount of the DMV fees?

    Thank you

Government charges have to be listed, and a dealer will usually not pad them. But in NC, most dealers have high dealer/doc fees of $500-$600. Those are unregulated, and they can charge whatever they want. Find out the dealer's fees before negotiating price, and lower your offers to compensate.

    Hey there kyfdx,

I saw earlier ITT that you’re from Wheelersburg and left in 1973. I grew up in Portsmouth and left in 1984. What a small world!

Anyway, I’m close to a deal on a 2019 JGC HA that has an MSRP of $54,080. The dealer’s current offer is at about $46,165. The MF is .00006 and RV is 51%. Based on all the other factors (taxes, docs, and acq. fee (total of $3,374)), the monthly, with zero down is about $615. 36/10 lease.

That being said, the dealer is claiming a Chrysler Capital Lease acquisition fee of $1,195. That’s too high - correct? Isn’t the base $595? With the approximate $8,000 MSRP reduction, it seems I have a good deal but the acquisition fee looks to be inflated. Would you see this the same?

Hi Silverbuck, I'm looking for the same JGC trim but in CA. I know that in February the 4x4 has no acquisition fee but the 4x2 is $595. In CA. I don't think they can raise that fee but I can be wrong. What is your rebate amount?

You should probably get a price lease sheet from the dealer before you go in, my 2 cents. Good luck!

    Hi geminiram,

    Thank you for your reply.

I’m in IL, fwiw. The lease sheet shows the $1,195. Another Jeep dealer had it at $695 but also wanted to charge some “lien fee” of $175. I’ve not seen that before and figure it is just BS, making their Acq. Fee 695 + 175 = 870.

As for rebates, I really did not parse though that, given the $8,000 discount. They could move a lot around in there and call it “rebate”, “discount”, etc. From what I can tell, $8,000 off seems excellent.

As we speak, the dealer just came back and texted an agreement for another $750 discount, so, that is good.

The HA actually has the acquisition waived for 36 month leases, this month.

Confirm which bank the dealer is using - could be Ally or US Bank. We don't have their programs, so wouldn't be able to tell you if the Acq Fee is marked up, or not.

$8000 off with discount and rebate is about 15% off. In CA, that's almost standard here. I'm shooting for 20% but I'm getting around 18% max. This will also vary depending on trim and regions so does not apply across the board. You may have a little more wiggle room as end of month is in 2 days.

Let me know how your deal turns out. Thanks!

Thanks Michael. I’m headed to the dealer in a bit and this will be helpful information. There have been so many moving parts that I will need to see how they elected to change different items. What I know for sure, is that the price keeps coming down.

    Hello Again,
    I need help!
wondering if an offer I was made today via text any good as there are only a few days left in the month. Here are the details from the dealer on a jeep grand cherokee limited luxury group II with 20 inch wheels. zipcode for registered vehicle is 27806 but offer is from a NY dealership that wants me to come in and sign papers on Thurs

    MSRP -$ 47,780

    RV - .4700
    MF - .0012500
    Monthly payment - $500 for 42 months/10,000 miles
    Acquisition fee - 695
    Doc Fee - 39.06
DMV - 459.43 -(this is extremely excessive as the license, title fees come to about $90)
    Tax - 50.80- on sub total - $1,693.49

total out of pocket will be $1,744.29

The payoff amount of the vehicle is $29,979.44 as per chrysler
    I have 5 payments left -$2,702.70
    mileage - 20,100

The dealer mentioned that they wouldn't buy the jeep but would make the remaining payments. However, my current lease agreement has an early term fee of $495 and a disposition fee of $395 which I will be responsible for. Should I wait or is this a good offer?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I am looking for the MF and residual % for a 4X4 Altitude @ 36/10. Zip is 10580.

This is the current offer I was given:

    MSRP - $42,730
    Disc - $1,319
    Price = $41,411
    Rebates = $4,000

No money would be down (would pay first mo. taxes and fees of course). Offer for monthly payment was $458/month. Does this sound right? Was hoping for under 4! Any help is appreciated, very green here.

This is the current offer I was given:

    .00003 MF and 50% residual
    $3500 incentive

With all fees and taxes upfront, I get $448/mo. That isn't too far off.
But, that would be $3000+ upfront. Doesn't seem like a great deal for a $43K MSRP vehicle for just 10K/yr (in a general sense)

    Sorry. How about 36/12?

OK, here is how the deal went down in Illinois:

    2019 JGC High Altitude 4x4

    MSRP $53,930

    Selling Price: $46,068
    Taxes (rolled in): 1,684

    MF .00006
    RV. 51%

    36/10 lease

    Monthly Pmt. $567

Paid 1st month and $401 of Doc fees (not rolled in lease)

So, this seems like a good deal. Edmunds True Market Value says pre-tax selling price averages $48,383 (price includes $3,000 of incentives/rebates) in my area. Consumer Reports is in the same range.

However, the selling price I paid is basically what the dealer advertised on their web site. As we went through negotiations, they eliminated a $1,195 acquisition fee they originally had, as well as a $250 security deposit. It seems that for this model, there never should have been an acquisition fee (this month) to start with, let alone a security deposit. So, it appears they reduced the cost by eliminating items that never should have been there anyway. That being said, had I realized that early on (I thought the acq. fee was a given but maybe marked up a bit), it’s hard to say if they would have eliminated the items and then reduced the selling price. I suspect they would have found a way to say they couldn’t do much, if anything, more. They seemed particularly pained at the end, when they tried to slip in an extra $100 and I refused. So, in the end, I think this is a good deal but I’m not sure if I could have done better. Maybe. Maybe not.

It seems that with fierce internet competition and information availability, some (not all) of these dealers show really low prices and then scramble to make up profit by packing in whatever they can. No surprise there. However, from looking at cars.com, it seems that most dealers price higher and leave more room to negotiate. At least in my nearby geography.

I will say that this is an awesome vehicle. As compared to the bare bones Q7 I had before, the JGC has a lot of incremental features and I’m saving a boat load of money.

Do you have to pay taxes on the rebates received for a leased vehicle? The total cost of rebates for the jeep grand cherokee is $8000 and I was told that I would have to pay the tax on that upfront.

Yes, you have to pay tax.

But, you can choose to add that tax amount to the selling price and make it part of the lease payment.
