    For the deal I'm evaluating, the Residual is 54%.
    I asked the dealer for the MF and he just laughed. Proposal I received looks aggressive - 20% off MSRP with Advanced package, Park Assist & 19" wheels. But, they appear to want to charge me the same tax (10.8%) as the purchase options, want same down payment as purchase option (I probably made a mistake by telling them I would put $5k down when we were talking about purchase options,) and they have a $199 Theft Protection Fee in there, which doesn't seem right.

    My first lease, trying to be smart, but man is it confusing comparing the lease proposal to the two finance proposals (one for 0% interest and the other for 2.9% for 60 months)

    You pay tax on the monthly payment in WA, not on the entire purchase price.

    Dealer is allowed to mark up the MF; not surprised they want to protect this number.

    You only want to pay the first payment and registration costs when you start the lease.

    How long do you plan to keep the car? Just 36 months? Lease may be better. Longer? Can't go wrong with 0% financing.

    and FR incentive is different depend on model.

    What is the MSRP?

    Why pay the fees up front? It doesn't change the total cost of your lease, and you risk losing that money if the car is stolen or totaled.

    In NY, we recommend you only pay the first payment, sales tax and registration costs at signing - roll everything else into the monthly payment.

    Ask them for a copy of the lease worksheet.
