    Had a lease extension on our previous vehicle, was passively looking during the last few months. Lease MFs are too high of a premium relative to the general interest rate environment IMO. Yes, the finance route may be better at the moment but I'm not interested in owning now. Will sit on the sidelines for a few months I guess.

    Comparing money factors to market interest rates is worrying about the wrong thing. If the residuals are high, it could still be a good lease deal. As the year goes on, residuals will likely drop along with the money factors, and at some point, you won't be able to lease a 2020 model, at all.

    All good points; there are a few 2020s left on lots that might be a good deal if dealers are motivated before year end, and I'll check those out. Part of the issue is that the current model Forester engine is a turnoff and I wouldn't want to hold it to maturity, with rumors of a redesign coming for 2022. So just trying to find something as a stopgap that won't be underwater in a year or so.
