HaHa, was not Lewis Hamilton who was caught speeding an MB SLR McLaren up from 200 km•h on a touristic Southeast French highway last year? 'I am ashamed; I promise I never will do it again' he said

Really I did not know.200 kmh :surprise:

F1drivers always talk about safety IMO they dont give a damn about it.

Yet in last Canada GP he collided into Räikkönen's car rear end when it was standing at a pit lane red light stop. Crazy pack, it is unbelievable they can survive their accidents

True F1 cars are built for these crashes remember Kubica crash last year in Canadian gp went to the hospital this year to the 1st position podium.

I was NOT surprised Raikkonen did not say anything after the crash he is such a cool guy never gets mad :confuse:

I bet the British media would make a BIG deal if Raikkonen did this to Hamilton.

Wonder what was going on with Heikki in Canadian gp. :confuse:

What I don't get is why they didn't put a new nose on Lewis' car and send him back out. It didn't look like he had any suspension/steering damage. I can understand Kimmi not going back out. He probably had some gearbox damage from that hit. But Lewis? :confuse:

    California you say?

Doesn't surprise me at all. Most auto forums are predominantly populated by Califronians. Even within this forum a Pennsylvanian (Lexusguy) and a Kansas fellow (Houdini) have Califronia roots.

Anyways I am booking out of Hotel California today and booking into a rustic lodge cabin in the wilderness of Yellowstone Park this week.

Take care and talk to you folks soon.

I went on the Club Lexus Plant tour a couple of days ago. This plant is in Cambridge, Ontario, where they make the RX SUV. I have to say that I am very impressed with what I saw. The place is clean, bright and organized. Everything looks top notch from what we were shown.
The tour started when we met at a nice upscale local hotel spa with reps from Lexus Canada for a delicious lunch. After lunch, a tour bus picked us up for a 15 min ride over to the Plant's Visitor Center where we were shown some presentations on what Lexus is up to ie. The Moment, and Hybrid marketing pushes... Then we went to the actual plant to see how the RX's were being assembled. In the Plant, we got seated on open air trams and given headsets to listen to the tour guide. The tram starts from where the finished RX's coming off the assembly lines. I find it's amazing that with the pending arrival of the all new 2010 RX, Lexus is still making one RX every 160 seconds at this location, that is a rate of over 300 a day, six days a week until the production of the new model starts. Speaking of the new model, no one from Lexus/Toyota would talk about it, the only thing we were shown was a section of the assembly line being retooled for it.
We were shown basically robots assembling the RX body shells, then human doing all the parts installation and testing. We did not see the paint shop live, since we were told that this is a cleanroom environment. Quite fascinating since every operation along the assembly line looks so finely tuned. Given that the trams were coming as close as 10 feet with the lines, the place does not smell like an auto shop at all.
At the end of the tour, people wanted to know more about the new RX, but again they politely redirected the conversation to another topic.
Some interesting sales stats: Currently Lexus sells over 500K a year. US being the top market takes about 60%. Then Japan and UK are second and third respectively. Canada is the fourth biggest market.

damaged his front suspension most likely. If they could have fixed it, it would have dropped him to far back to be competitive.

F1 safety has come a long way. Just back in 94 we lost one of the greatest drivers ever[Senna] lost another up, and comer [Ratzengurgh], and almost lost the current Honda veteran [Barichello] all in the same weekend.

LG, I couldn't see the pic of your new S6. However, my old desk at Audi was about 20 yards from a beautiful blk/blk S6. Every time I walked by it, I felt like I had just drank a 6 pack of red bull. and dropped 2 Viagra.................

Nice car and love the wheels. Nothing beats a set of good looking 5-spoke (or semi 5-spoke) wheels on a sports sedan.
  • louisweilouiswei Member Posts: 3,715
Looks like you had a great time!! You should look out for the future Lexus events in your area such as the Lexus Performance Driving Academy, they usually do a good job on those and make you want to come back for more.

By the way, you use Club Lexus? What's your handle? Mine is ffpower.

Yellowstone is AWESOME! Did it with the family two years ago... we'll never forget it's majestic beauty. Take loads of pics. BTW, don't leave snacks or food in your car overnight, or the bears will destroy your car like it's a Tinkertoy!!

Same week for us to take a break. We're picking up the kids from their last day of school today, and catching a plane to our usual... Hawaii... it's just too convenient from the West coast, I guess. I will stay connected, however, because I have to carry my mobile on this trip, and that means I can't resist the forums... LOL!

Anyway... HAVE A GREAT TRIP!! :shades:

Dada, after months of hearing Zaino Zaino Zaino... from you I finally gave in and ordered Z-AIO and Z-5 PRO. It should be here sometimes next week and I am planning on to apply them on next Saturday. Will let you know how did it go.

Happy Yellowstone to you, Dewey! and
Happy Hawaii to you, TG! and
    Happy new S6, Reality2!

This is my busiest time around the year… I cannot take a leave  OK, I look forward to upcoming July. (Meanwhile I'll be only contented if the Spanish soccer team wins the European championship this June!)

Sure they would do! Lewis Hamilton is an excellent pilot but still a whining boy, IMO.

I think Fernando Alonso gets the whining trophy.
  • laurasdadalaurasdada Member Posts: 5,234
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, Louis (the shine, not applying...). I've not tried Z-AIO, look forward to your review.

Most folks that try it seem to really like it. Smells good, too!

    Alonso is the whining champion

    Not so sure.

How many times Alonso (or any other pilot) has officially complained against Hamilton to get him back in the starting positions or else? Hamilton & Hamilton`s dad team have done it at least half a dozen times during last season. Now that Hamilton's friend commissary is not within the punishing commission, they refrain themselves to complain. If Kimi had collided into Hamilton's back, you could still hear their whines for a long while. That said, I repeat Lewis Hamilton is an excellent pilot.

    R2, PM me ... tagman@carspace.com

Make sure you include that same address in your permissions list. If you fail to do that, I will not be able to reply to your message. So, this is necessary.

Once you have done these things, just post here and let me know. I will then send you a PM reply, and explain all this to you!! ;)

saying that Hamilton isn't a whiner, I'm saying that IMO, Alonso takes the cake. He comes across as having the permanent red [non-permissible content removed]....

Threatening Mclareren with Ferrari info, that he didn't report himself. Accusing them of showing favoritism when he couldn't find the pace.

Bottom line, all these guys are pretty arrogant, Schue, and Alonso take it to a different level. Again IMO.

The transmission is a safety risk.

Is your friend's X3 an '07? The transmission in the pre '07s is supposed to be perfectly fine, and BMW has supposedly fixed the jerkiness and throttle response issues for '08. Ours has gotten a bit better, but it still isn't great. My wife felt that RX350 was too big and too boring, and with no other credible choices, we got the X3. She's since told me we should've gotten another RX.

The X3's steering is also very weird. It's annoyingly heavy at parking speeds, and seems to get too light at highway speeds. It's also dead as a doornail. Absolutely zero road feel.

PM sent. Not sure about the permissions, but I think it's correct.

I think most people watch the news when they get up in the morning. Either we're all crazy or that's not so crazy afterall.

I admit to occasionally watching Squawk Box in the morning, but I can't stand 99% of the talking news heads. That said, I never miss Keith Olbermann's show, the Daily Show, and of course Mr. Colbert.
  • lexusguylexusguy Member Posts: 6,419
Your description sounds like a Autospies forum to me.

No, the Autospies members would get thrown out of a gentlemen's club. I think most of them are probably teenagers who drive Mom's old Mazda 626, telling everyone that they drive a BMW M5 and that anyone who likes anything Japanese is stupid.
  • lexusguylexusguy Member Posts: 6,419
hanks Tagman! You sure made it easy. Here is a pic of my S6. Enjoy!

    Nice car :)
  • lexusguylexusguy Member Posts: 6,419
Wait for the Q5. Should be a hybrid version as well.

The Q5 and the Volvo XC60 are at the top of the test drive list when the lease on the X3 is over. The EX35 would be on there as well if it weren't for the horrendous packaging. There are 2+2 coupes with more legroom than the EX35.
  • tayl0rdtayl0rd Member Posts: 1,926
Now a disclaimer. After you apply it for the first time, you are not, I repeat, NOT, going to be "wowed." Give it 3 days to cure then be amazed. I wish you would've ordered some Z6 and Z8, though, to really make it pop. And some Z7 to wash it with.

Yes, I will be looking for the Performance Driving Academy. I did not know Club Lexus has a forum?

One other item from Lexus reps I forgot to mention is that the LS460 is coming with an AWD model this fall. This is an interesting fact, since I believe a lot of Lexus fans living in snow regions have been asking for.

possibly be talking about on a Lexus forum?

How good the cookies are in the dealership?

My LS460 is quieter than yours?

My Grandmothers ES350 is softer than your neighbors?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

You know, there is actually a group of people called "Lexus enthusiasts" exist in this world right...

Actually, how many of you have taken your car to the race track before? At least this Lexus owner right here can proudly declare that his IS350 is no longer a track virgin. How many of you can claim that on your cars?

    :shades:

Threatening Mclareren with Ferrari info, that he didn't report himself.
IMO, I can't accuse Alonso of being a liar to cover his unfair boss.

Accusing them of showing favoritism when he couldn't find the pace.
But Alonso was who settled the cars for every race. Hamilton just copied his settings. Alonso would had won the championship were not for his being delayed in the starting positions in Monza and other races because of Hamilton's whines.

:P But I admit all that I've written above is arguable. So, we can split differences and meet in that…
Bottom line, all these guys are pretty arrogant, Schue, and Alonso take it to a different level :D

Anyone seen the x6 vs cayenne video yet.

Would like to know what you guys think about it.

Actually, I've taken my Audi(s) - various over the years - many times to the track. ACNA, Audi Driving Experience, and others have a plethora of great track events as well as safety training for adults and teens. But I savor the track time with other Audis.

Yes, the Dutch are playing brilliantly. Although American, I find I like a lot of "European" sports.

Also, the Peugeot are in a blistering pace. It is 24 hours however and I think we'll see the Audi's where we usually find them. At the podium.. ;)

Lou, I'm in Hawaii until next Thursday, but the time zone shift has me up too early, so I'll take the time for you here.

When I was younger, I went to Sears Point Raceway and drove the race cars provided by their High Performance program. It was a blast!! Back then, I didn't own any car of my own, as I had a company car, and I was not financially capable of owning a car that I could track. Anyway, the program was cool, but the original Sears Point Raceway needed some updating. Infineon purchased Sears Point and reconfigured the track, and the spectator's view of the track as well... in a massive multi-million dollar renovation project to bring Sears Point up to a world class level.

It is now Infineon Raceway... and Jim Russell Racing replaced Bob Bondurant Racing.

Later in life, I started my own business, and when I bought my first Porsche, I never wanted to bring it to the track. Since then, I've owned some nice cars, but the only one I really wanted to track was the recent Lotus Elise Sport. I had been invited to Infineon Raceway with a group of Lotus owners, but I had just suffered a serious and horrible neck injury, as some here knew about, and I had to decline the experience. In fact, I had to sell the Lotus. I traded it in on the Carrera S.

I still have no interest in tracking my Porsche or my 135i. However, I will be registering my daughter for Jim Russell's driving classes in the near future, so I might grab some track time with THEIR cars, just for fun.

Also, my Porsche and 135i, as Convertibles, wouldn't be allowed on most tracks.

So... Sorry, but you can't include me on your list for the reasons explained... I haven't driven my OWN cars on the track, and, frankly, have no intentions of doing so, unless I buy a Lotus again... which I am considering.

BTW, I am now within about two weeks of getting my 135i Convertible... It has been a torturous wait! Perhaps you would like to bet me that it can beat your Lexus in a head-to-head... easily. ;)

I get the impression it's time for you to step up to a real performance car... I can just tell that you really want one . LOL. ;)

    TM :)

Ah, I see why I was confuse. Lexus Canada uses the name Club Lexus for its customers's club, not the same as the one you mentioned. I had a quick look at the provided link and found it quite interesting.

Never been to a track in my own cars. Maybe when I have track ready car such as the GT-R... ;)

Louis - I track my Porsche but not my other cars. The reason that I bought the Cayman S was to spend time at Autocross events and club track days, it is worth it. :shades:
