    I wouldn't start a lease with over $3000 out of pocket.

    As is, the prices given give me a pre-tax payment of $343/mo

    No MSD program for Honda.

    You can structure the up front lease costs any way you'd like; we generally recommend you only pay the first payment and any registration costs up front.

    Anything beyond that would be at risk of loss if the car is stolen or totaled during the lease.

    And, it doesn't change the total cost of the lease. I can lease a Ferrari for $399/mo if I put $150,000 up front when I sign the contract.

    Leasing is nothing more than a sophisticated rental. You only pay for that part of the car you use during the lease term, then give it back at the end.

    Would you give a landlord $5000 up front for rent on an apartment? Same thing.
