I'll see what the dealer quotes then decide if I want to go through the broker, who can order vehicles from the factory they say, or through a dealer.

You can't pay the tax upfront. It's applied and collected monthly on the lease payment.

Attaching their sheet. Note all of the "upfront" taxes. This isn't the car I want, but it is from the broker for one I was considering but too much cash for sure. If this is a bad deal, it'll tell me not to work with them.

Is your broker in NY? That's not the way sales tax is collected in CT.

But, the upfront tax on the rebate/CAP reduction is correct.

I would prefer to pay the taxes all up front since I'm being reimbursed for tax. The dealer is being coy about simply sending me the numbers. They want to just say "X Down" and "Y is your payment". I've told them that I'll eventually get the facts so... Pain in the....

Are they playing games or is it just ignorance? They apparently do a huge number of leases so I'm surprised they'd goof-up something like this. Unless it's intentional to misrepresent something.

Not necessarily. The structure of the lease would be different with the correct parameters (more CAP reduction, resulting in lower pre-tax payment, then tax added to the payment). So, it might still be the same upfront and the same monthly, it would just be allocated differently.

Most dealers charge doc fees up your way. If you think the price isn't fair, with them included, it's easier to just negotiate a lower selling price, than to focus on the fee.

As long as the numbers are OK, they'll get reallocated as you suspect.

So, the selling price is after the $2000 rebate? No dealer discount from MSRP?
Otherwise, if there were a $2000 discount, then the adjusted CAP would be $2000 lower than selling price, due to the rebate.

Not sure why you need a broker to get a low discount deal. Especially one that doesn't know how to compute sales tax in your state. (or, most states, if this is the only way they know how to do it).

I thought the broker would make it easier but seems about the same as trying to work with a dealer. The dealer will be sending me the numbers tomorrow. So far, the dealer only gave me a "down" number of $2200 and a payment amount...not what will be owed on delivery.

My motivation for broker was to avoid needing to deal with the inevitable nonsense that pops-up when working with a dealer. You make a good point though.

Looks like the broker is making things more complicated. At this point, you probably know as much or more about making the deal than they do.
