    Not only that, local Toyota dealer is marking up plain RAV4s for $5k and RAV4 Prime for $15k.

    That's right, RAV4 Prime prices in the mid '$60k.

    Why is Toyota bothering to advertise on TV?

    They don't have inventory to give to the dealers and what cars dealers can get hands on, they're marking up like crazy. Probably a good way to hurt the brand.

    Honda dealers aren't marking up CRVs nearly as crazily.

    Not sure if this is the place to ask this but my 3 year 2019 Rav-4 lease is up in a couple months. Originally planned to lease the 2022. I only have 20,000 miles (allowed 30,00 for the three years). Considering all the mark ups, would the best move to be to request a 6 month extension and reevaluate then? I have heard of people buying out their cars as well at this time as they are more valuable now than they were projected to be three years ago, but not sure I want to go through that. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

    Yes, either buying out your existing lease or extending it 6 months is better than starting over in this overheated market.
