Hi there - Should 2k lease cash be applied toward amount due at signing? Meaning even if I pay first month only at $400, it'll show as 2400 amount due at signing?

Yes, My purchase had $2k lease cash and I’m looking to confirm that it should be shown as part of a payment towards the lease vs, taken off the cap cost only?

I purchased a lease yesterday from the dealer with the lowest monthly rate offered my way. On the lease form it shows my payment($433)and two separate fields showing $2k, one titled rebates & non cash credits and the other cap costs.

A rep at another dealership followed up w me today and he accused me of lying about putting money down, I showed him a smaller screenshot that showed my monthly and the line item of rebates and non cash credits. He said I put $2k down with laughing emojis.

Did I get bamboozled? In looking at it, I will only be paying my monthly x36, but I see the total cost paid has the 2k added. Which is a total of 18k. Was this their way to getting more of a payout if I purchase, or is this how it should be reported?

I always get bummed that not enough people post the end result so we can compare deals. It is always just give me the numbers and gone!

Just picked up 2021 Hyundai Tucson Sport AWD on a 36 month lease with 10k miles a year. $280 a month with $650 down which included first month, tax, title, license, etc.

I thought it was an absolute steal on a $31K MSRP

It either includes the $2000 or it doesn't.

The incentives are treated as if you had given the dealer the money; except, it was the bank who gave it to them.

They ran my credit card for the monthly only(I asked if there was a difference in how I paid cc vs debit - they said there wasn't).

I just second guessed myself when the rep at the other dealer today told me he didn't believe me that I got that low of a monthly rate. And so in looking at the lease agreement and sharing this portion to him( https://imgur.com/a/W30IAe ), he said I put 2k down and that I lost, despite me pointing out that it was the cash rebate/incentive. So I just wondered in going back and forth with the dealer I did purchase from and having to get Costco involved to ensure I got the correct pricing, if maybe they appropriated the lease cash in a way that wasn't the way it should have been.

I will also share that thanks to you, I was able to correct them on the MF and when signing the Finance guy asked me how I knew the MF, etc and I told him I did my research. I will also share my deal since you and this forum are the reason why I think I got an even better deal(I hope you agree).

Semantics. The lease contract should be clear enough. Plus, you know what you paid out of pocket, and you know the monthly.
