I agree with the pre-tax amount.

You have two different taxes, however. State of IL taxes the sum of the payments - if you don't pay them up front, they get added into the cap cost. That needs to be accounted for in your sheet.

The City of Chicago then taxes that payment each month.

What is the $700 fee? Shouldn't there be both a bank fee and a dealer doc fee?

Do you have an actual quote from the dealer, or are you trying to prepare for battle by calculating things up front?

Thanks for the clarification on the taxes. The fees are just placeholders right now and any negotiated discount can be added to the net cap reduction.

I'm using this to prepare for battle but also have been quoted at $500-600/month for a Jeep Cherokee, which seems outrageous. Is the supply that low that dealers are able to get more aggressive?

Would you have any feedback on lease acquisition costs? With prior leases, this has typically been $650. The dealer we are working with is looking to charge us $1,335. In our experience, this seems high for what is basically a bank fee.

For Chrysler Capital, the 36 month acquisition fee is $595. Dealers can mark it up to $895.

If it's higher than that, it is likely a different bank. That does seem egregious

Not sure if anyone knows or can confirm this information. I am currently leasing a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited FWD for $297 a month. Its got 10k miles / year 36 month lease.

The dealer told me today that Jeep in 2018 was pushing leases, but right now they are not and pushing to finance. So their offer for a lease of the 2021 Jeep Cherokee Limited for 12k miles / year on 36 month lease was almost $600/ month with $1k down.

Can anyone confirm that this is correct with Jeep leases now? Like this is crazy...more then double the amount im paying now.

Buying will always result in a higher payment, as you are financing the entire selling price of the vehicle - with leasing, you are only financing the portion the bank believes the car will depreciate.

Check with another dealer; lots of folks are leasing Cherokees.
