I saw that commercial also, what was the point of it? Kinda like the one where they raced against a lotus off road. Same result, does anyone really care about the nonsense commercials or the truck in them?
if you buy a tundra, you don't have to worry about running over gnomes. whereas if you buy a competing model (e.g. ranger, s-10, dakota, frontier or tacoma), the life-expectancy of fully grown gnomes in your area may become drastically lower.
moral: if for no other reason than not killing make-believe little people...buy a tundra.
Them commercials be for them yuppies now, and like that truck that be in em, they aint got no meanin too them that works em. Just that factory, showin that shine of em too the yuppie. The yuppie, upon seein that shine, starts too chase it. This be how they get tricked into ownin em. Good luck on this one now!
I aint gettin this one. How does folks take them words "now" and "then" and get that word "same"? I just aint gettin it now. Is them words some how confusin? I aint never said them ones was the "same" ones now. Good luck on this one now!
i gotta disagree. it appears to me as though he's looking for signs of intelligent life. he's obviously not finding it in anyone offering what they consider to be serious retorts to his posts. he's got a twinkie on a string and every time someone gets close to it, he gives a little tug. they chase some more, he tugs some more. i play the same game with my cat using an old shoe lace. entertains him for hours. please tell me i'm not the only one who sees this??? LOL
Them yuppies be easy too be trickin now. Just look how that factory done tricked em into thinkin them limited ones be "full size"! Aint it funny how that factory had too put them outside handles on them back doors too be tellin em apart? Could be that shine be tricken em too. Never can tell with a yuppie now, they be harder too learn than most folks. Good luck on this one now!
start new topics. I'm sorry, but I've never heard anything worth mentioning to my worst enemy come across from this person. Start a new topic about justtheone - some people are are stubborn, but this guy is just plain dumb...
That truth be slappin them folks, and it be stingin, and how! That truth got that way of doin that too them folks now. But that truth be that truth, and them facts is them facts on them limited ones. That shine be blindin them folks too these simple facts, and when they hearin it, they lash out on that messenger of that truth. Good luck on this one now!
you said..."The world is not limited to the US. Look at the total sales figures (world wide) and you will see that Toyota is a major player AND makes more money than any one else. At the end of the day it will be profits and not sales that count.
Actually abc, toyota relies on America as much as the big 3 do for profits. you see, the US accounts for over 30% of Toy's sales. japan accounts for 40% (not surprisingly) europe is about 18% and the remaining 12% is the entire REST OF THE WORLD. So really, when it comes to auto sales, the world almost is limited to the US. All auto makers live and die by North American demand for vehicles. Yes, Toyota is a profitable company with good sales. but remember this: toyota posted revenues of about $118 bill. last year. Ford's rev's were $171 bill. GM's were $190 bill. toyota is more profitable than GM, (who isn't) but about the same as Ford.
Checked out tundra this weekend, really tried to make myself like them, as I live about 40 miles from plant. They seem much smaller than GM, Dodge, or Ford. Interior has that small sitting on the floor feel that all japanese vehicles I've ever been in have. I still dont think that Japan will ever figure out the American full size truck market. But Toyota's have a loyal following, and if they were about 10 to 15% cheaper than the American offerings they might be worth it. But 28k for a regular cab 4 x 4 with steel wheels and not fully loaded, no way!!
Yup, just use your eyes on this one. Them forien tundras sure aint full size no matter what tells that factory be givin on em. The only folks who be thinkin they be full size is them folks who be movin up from them tacoma ones. Them forien ones aint never goin be full size now, they aint got the knowin on how too be makin one full size now. First they had that t100 one, and that factory was callin it a full size one. Now along comes that tundra, and that factory givin that same old tell. But them that use them eyes be knowin that truth on this one now. Good luck on this one now!
Noticed them fellars loading that old truck up with 50 gallon barrels. Them fellars are real strong, the one be loading that last barrel with one arm. I'm a weakling...I couldn't move that barrel with one arm if it was full. (pause)
Wait a minute.....them barrels be empty for sure! Good luck on that one. Chevy's last decent made trucks faded out around 1972 when there CEO slashed quality for more profit. Since then it's been nothing but gimmicks and sales hype to get them wannabee rednecks, yuppies and gen X'rs to buy. That frame needs a thick coat of wax from the factory to delay the rust long enough for the dealer to unload it. Usually on some businessman trying to to toughen up his image. The silverado does this exceptionally well by hiding his bloated gut below the level of the window (right quad?). They finally beefed up the frame on the 2001's. All the 1999/2000 owners be getting that bad pain in the rear-end again, scramblin' to get rid of/trade em in on the 2001's. Stick to them old Chevs Rube, they be the last of the real trucks.
I was wondering - If the Silverado is supposedly "full size" - why does it only weigh 2% more than the Tundra? They must be making it out of recycled tin cans.
The Tundra is heavier duty. Those wimpy Silverados will be dropping like flies the first time you try to work them.
If you want a real heavy duty full size truck - get a Tundra.
Chevy lightened (and cheapened) their truck by going to a three piece frame design. Now - after two years of production - they decided to add braces to their limp noodle frame. Typical Chevy quality (or lack thereof).
Chevy marketed their Silverado to the people who want minivans. That is why they lowered it 4 inches, and put in a huge rear seat. They also require you to upgrade the springs and add a transmission cooler to put a hitch on.
That's funny - to tow with a Tundra, all you do is add a hitch. Definitely heavier duty.
Man, I got the Chevy pack stirred up! 32 posts since yesterday! 13 from Libby! I told you that I got her trained. I am laughing my [non-permissible content removed] off!
First of all - to all of Libby's loyalists - I'm sorry that you fall for her B.S so easily. Hook, line and sinker! You Chevy packers are just too gullible! Maybe that is why you own Chevies. In the meantime, I will continue to call a spade a spade (or a liar a liar in Libby's case).
I know that it must be hard for the Chevy pack to accept that their "golden girl" is not perfect. It is hilarious to me that the Chevy pack picked Libby as their poster girl. She lacks cajones.
Superjim - I hit a small bump in the road yesterday - I think it was an S10.
BCO - In order for Libby to search for intelligence - she would have to have some herself. And she damn sure won't find any in the Chevy pack. Who has the string? And as far as the twinkie goes - that isn't a twinkie that Libby has been feeding you. I tell you what - Libby is doing a great job for Toyota. Hook, line and sinker!
Swobig - I don't get your latest post. You usually are leading a Libby cheer. All you need is pom poms.
I'm telling you guys - Libby is working for the enemy.
Heavier duty than what now? They got that drivetrain right out of them tacoma ones! Is ya sayin them tacoma ones heavier duty now? Poor yuppies, blinded by that shine, they just aint gettin it now. Good luck on this one now!
HAHAHHAHAHA ok yea uh huh bama is your occupation a politician cause you sure dont tell the truth.
Any vehicle that actually tows anything heavy should have a trans cooler duh under towing conditions the trans heats up. tow a heavy trailer with your tundra not just those bikes and watch your trans burn up. Mine will keep going and going and going.
bama...interesting that you make SIXTEEN references to "libby" in ONE post. yet, she directs nothing to you. nada. zip. hmmm. so...who's got who trained? LOL! she lobs that ole twinkie out and you leap right for it. some day you might get it. you just keep givin' it that ole college try.
guys, in reading bama's laughable "If you want a real heavy duty full size truck - get a Tundra" post, i figured it all out. there's a reason why toyota doesn't produce 3/4 ton, 1 ton, or dually applications...they actually think that tundra is a "heavy duty" truck. obviously they've got their owners brainwashed. i mean, why offer 3/4 or 1 tons (or ext cab longbeds or regular cab shortbeds for that matter) when you can dominate (LOL!!!) the market with two configurations? especially when you have the mid-size class-leading 4.7 L V8 power?
yawn...heavy duty my [non-permissible content removed].
let me jump in here before someone else rudely points out to you the fallacy of asking if two words in the same sentence are an "oxymoron". see, by definition, an oxymoron is a combination of contradictory or incongruous words (webster's). for example: jumbo-shrimp.
now then, since i understand what you are trying to communicate, how does this strike you:
bottom line..."heavy-duty tundra" is an oxymoron. next thing you know tacoma owners are going to be wanting to call their trucks heavy duty or something...
in case you're wondering, that's a picture of the duramax diesel engine featured as an option in chevy's new line-up of heavy duty trucks. you know...the ones they hope will be able to keep up with tundras and tacomas...LOL!!!
I think jray18 was refering to GM's crappy attempt to make a diesel I am sure the Izuzu will be a hell of a lot better...Cant be any worse. Here is another oxymoron.."The Fullsize tundra"
bco re:#268: I think you hit the nail on the head. However, the baiting and pretense are two things made worse when combined. Further, the posts are calculated to say something which can be denied and put off to reader interpretation. Since we are presumably attempting to communicate in these posts, it seems pretty twisted to work so hard at garbling clarity, don't you think? This is a person desperately in need of something useful to do with her/his/its talents.
bamatundra: you are wrong about justtheone lacking intelligence. Maintaining that facade requires an extraordinary intelligence indeed. It's simply brain power wasted on nonsense.
rwellbaum2: The guy "loading that old truck up with 50 gallon barrels" is doubtless using a two wheel dolly which is hidden behind the barrel. Examine it closely and you'll realize that even an empty barrel would be impossible to move forward onto the truck with one hand in the manner shown in the photo without a dolly.
Amazing how much can be written about so little, isn't it?!?
i can't have hit it on the head. that would mean others would have to be wrong. and certain others on here are never wrong tim. it's just not plaisible.
as for: Amazing how much can be written about so little, isn't it?!?
how about: a picture's worth a thousand words. justtheone just revels in letting others determine for themselves what they are.
Where I grew up, another country that is, Toyota does have deisel engines. How many configurations I don't know. In fact now I'm not sure if they were deisel, but spewed black smoke like a deisel engine, and made noise like a deisel engine.
Yep, them limited ones be so HD, ya cant even get ya a factory hitch on em. Them tundras be parts sharin most of that drivetrain with them tacomas now, guessin them tacomas be HD little ones now! Course, as long as them forien ones be shiny, them yuppies will be chasin em, even if they aint got the knowin of what that HD be meanin now. Guessin they aint figured out that factory hint: "Da Runt"! Good luck on this one now!
Why is it that them yuppies always reachin for them forien one now? Is it cuz it be "trendy", or do them ones just have more shine? What say too this one now? Good luck on this one now!
I will have to side with the Chevy & Ford owners on this one. Are you crazy thinking the tundra is HD get a real truck one made by one of the big3. Dodge knew that the Tundra could not compete with the Ram that is why they came out with a new body style Dakota. This is so the Tundra would have one truck to compete againest.
i'm sure many others here would join me in being interested to hear you speak as to why ford and dodge diesels rule over chevy. would you care to expand on your one-liners?
ratboy - think maybe toyota has a reason for not offering diesels in the u.s.? i would have to suspect that they don't think they'd be very successful.
timothy, maybe you're right. maybe i should have said...
"that would mean others would have to admit to being wrong. and certain others on here would never admit to being wrong tim."
Tundra got more shine for sure! That wax coating chevy puts on their rust-happy frames be dulling the shine quick! Best unload them overflexing, rear window bustin' 1999/2000 Shakerado's quick. Quad's finally had enough and is trying to dump his for a 2001! Looks like the Chevy ratpack is abandoning ship quick now, reaching for that next year chevy! Year after year they keep buyin' GM fad of the year, use them for 40-60K and trade em' in before the inevitable catastrophic repair bills start piling up.
Yup, that drivetrain aint all shiny, guessin them yuppies be concerned with such things now. Course, them that works em, be knowin better bout such things. Chase that shine yuppie, top too bottom now! Good luck on this one now!
Yep! I like shine from top to bottom. Don't like all that rust starting up on a new vehicle. Guess even that heavy wax coating can't stop them chev frames from rustin' up quick. Maybe GM pennypinchers will break down and pay for the frames to be galvinized. Seems all they're interested in is putting money into fancy gimmicks that appeal to the fad chasers but break quick after the sale. That autotrac is a fine example of their quick-sell gimmicks. The autotrac systems breaking after only 40-50K. That businessman don't need it, just likes how it sounds in the fancy brochure. That soccermom likes them cupholders and big back seat, but complains when she can't park it cause the steering radius is too wide. Yep GM engineering at it's finest. They concentrate on the gimmicks leaving the rest to rust and rattle.
They be mixin them folks who be workin them trucks, with them yuppies who be chasin after em. With that truth slappin em harder, they start twistin it back at them that works em, pointin out them yuppie ways too that workin man! Keep that shine on that bottom of them forien ones. Work that "highway" with them "full size" ones, and haul them grocerys home. Sure be glad when this fad be over, and them ones is off chasin after the new one. Good luck on this one now!
Is it these eyes, or is them Dodge ones bigger than them tundra ones? Them Dodge ones looked too be near "full size" now. Is them ones bigger than them limited ones or not? Which one got more haul? Aint never seen no tundra workin yet, but seen them Dodge ones workin for the town. What say too this one? Good luck on this one now!
I will have to side with the Chevy & Ford owners on this one. Are you crazy thinking the tundra is HD get a real truck one made by one of the big3. I do agree with an earlier poster about GM fullsize low step in height. A 4 x 4 is supposed to be big and tall, quit lowering the step in height to please yuppies and the elderly. I saw a new dodge off road 4 x 4 today. I am not a dodge fan, but it was riding far higher than any factory 4 x4 Ive seen lately, looked good! If the trucks are to tall, let them buy some geezer running boards to help them get in! The only thing worse than running boards on a 4 x 4 is ground effects and flares on 4 x4's!. What are people thinking when they do that!
