Yes, I understood your post that the lights DO go off with the engine. However, because the P. Lights will come on again if you turn the switch while the car if off, I figured it couldn't hurt to leave the buzzer in, in case it gets switched on by accident, like if someone else drives it, or if young children play around with the switches. The buzzer's easy to remove if a Hyundai tech refuses to work on the car with it in.
My aunt's SaFe has deep gouges on each trim side, similar to yours about 1/2" in diameter, but they haven't been touched up yet. I always thought it was just sloppy entering and exiting, but the idea of someone else's door hitting it makes sense, since she rarely has passengers. If the trim is the furthest point out, then maybe you'd want to put some sort of rubber padding there, for any future dings. The day after I bought my Sonata I noticed one dent/chip, and phoned the salesman about it, saying I'd be in the next weekend, when I went to pick up the missing hooks for my cargo net. During that week, someone put a chip on my bumper, so I just told the dealership that it was always that way, and they almost wouldn't fix it, except that I had called the salesman the day after my purchase, about the original dent. Surprisingly, the salesman really "was" new at the dealership and wasn't just saying that, so he didn't know the proper procedures, etc.
I just got of the phone with an upper management person at HMA in Illinois. Viced my concners at the hesitation problem at 40 mph in my 4 cyl. automatic GL. He told me that on 6-28-01, HMA made available a downloadable fix to dealers via the HMA tech website. It will adjust the information in the onboard computer that will eliminate the problem. You have to go to the dealer to have them do the work, which should only take 10-15 min. for them to download/upload the patch to your car.
I'll explain this one more time... If you just turn the engine off, the parking lamps(side marker and tail) remain ON. If you open the driver-side door, the ETACS module sends a signal to the parking lamp shut-off relay cutting off electricity to the lamps. You can NOT accidently turn the lights back on. Why? Because the switch is already ON! But the circuit is disconnected at the realy. Why does the driver have to be reminded if the lamps are already off??? Please remove whatever crap you put on the fuse box terminals. Lots of mysterious electrical problems have been traced to marginal contact(s) in fuse panel. In most of the cases owners don't have a clue what's been done to his/her car...it's ALMOST ALWAYS their prodigious sons or relatives' work that messed up the contacts in the fuse box.
Was feeding a little "go juice" to my sandstone Santa Fe AWD V6 vehicle last Friday at lunch and had this guy walked up and marveled at the vehicle. Asked me if those were 16 inch wheels. Said, "Hyundai has really improved, huh?" I told him that I'd had mine since last October and really loved it. He asked, "What's the price... about $30,000.00? I told him he could probably get the V-6, AWD for about $23,500.00 and his eyes lit up. (I haven't done any pricing lately and that was about what mine cost.)
This seems to happen at least once a week. Even when they don't know I'm looking, they'll walk around it in a parking lot, get a twinkle in their eyes, and then go get in their 5 year old Toyota Land Rover. You can tell that the new car bug has bitten.
Took a one day business trip from Chattanooga, TN to Jackson, TN last Tuesday and Wednesday, around a 540 mile round trip and found gas prices from $1.399 to $1.239. (I just don't understand why there would be such a large difference in price in the same state where they all have to pay the same taxes?) Anyway, I decided to check my gas mileage and made sure that the tank was full each time I refiled. (Those who claim to get 26 to 28 miles per gallon are, obviously, not filing their tanks to capacity.) For the 481 miles driven while keeping a record, I averaged 22.8 miles per gallon driving almost exclusively on the Interstate at speeds averaging between 75 and 80. (I know the speed limit on the Interstate in Tennessee is 70, however, you'll get your doors blown off by by '88 Excels at such a pedestrian pace.) Plus, I just hate it when a Rav4 or Pathfinder passes me. I think a lot of 'em speed up just so they can get a look. heh heh
Well, I'm off to install my Edashkit wood dash kit today. Here's hoping everyone has a great 4th of July. If you're going to be on the road, drive safely, keep the rubber side down, and arrive wherever you're going in the best looking SUV on the road.
Can someone please post a picture of engine splash guard? I want to find out if I have the guard installed. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to look for in the hood. Thanks.
Look under the car. It has to be removed when your oil is changed in order to get to the drain plug. It's to prevent splashes from underneath the vehicle.
Wow! I was kind of right when first stated as a skid plate and then someone tell me that it was a splash guard. It does not really matter to me what is called but here is the picture for those who need to know.
I have a fwd LX and I just got home from a 2 week 3000 mile trip, from florida to eastern and western Va and to Long Island NY and back to florida. I averaged 26.3 miles to the gallon for the entire trip. These miles were all on the Interstate at speeds of 65 to 79 mph.
I experinced the cruise control cutout, and it was caused by my left thumb. While holding the steering wheel with the left hand, the thumb rests exactly over the cancel and on off buttons for the cruise control. Three times I felt my thumb brush these buttons and three times the cruise control cutout. I believe all these cruise control cutouts are caused by the driver.
The Santa Fe handled and rode beautifully, it was a comfortable trip in a smooth riding vehicle.
Skidplates are usually made of some sort of metal and are meant to protect the underside. Obviously a plastic shield will not be able to withstand anywhere close to the level of punishment that a metal skidplate can, so don't venture too far off-road! ;-)
Drew Host Vans, SUVs, and Aftermarket & Accessories message boards
Since the splash guard is only plastic, are there any other aftermarket skid plates available that might be more durable. Are there off-road houses that can custom fit one out of metal for you,and if so, would this be advised? Thanks in advance.
If you have a higher model Santa Fe then you might be able to claim the splash guard from the dealer for free but if you have a lower model then you can also contact the dealer to offer you one.
I had a few nicks from people opening their door into the grey cladding. The nicks were all on the crease that sticks out the most. There was no paint damage as the plastic cladding is the same color throughout. Today I got a 3/4 inch body moulding at advance auto parts and applied just under the crease , so it sticks out about a 1/4 inch past the crease. Hopefully this will prevent further nicks.
I was putting gasoline in my Santa Fe today when I noticed Two Rust Stain Spots on the Nordic White paint which are located at the 10:00 and 2:00 Position right above the Screw Off Gas Cap on the rear quarter panel. At the 10:00 and 2:00 position on the left rear quarter panel, above the screw off gas cap, there are two holes that look like they are either drain holes or vent holes. I noticed that right on these two holes and the area around these two holes, there are brown rust stains. I have a Nordic White Santa Fe. The rust stains are on the paint surface and they look like they are inside the paint. I also found another similar rust stain like the ones that are above the screw off gas cap, but this one is located on the front right passenger door, on the edge of the door on the thickness part of the door's sheet metal, between the door and the front right fender. The rust stain on the door is about 1/4" long. My vehicle is Nordic White. I would like to know if it is common for a white vehicle like mine to show rust stains like this on White Paint. Does anybody else here who owns a Nordic White Santa Fe have similar problems with rust stains on the Nordic White Paint? How did these rust stains get on the paint of a new vehicle this soon? Is this common and normal? I also would like to know if the rust stains will go away if I apply car wax on the rust stains. I got some White touch up paint from the dealer and want to touch up the area above the gas cap and the area on the edge of the front right passenger door between the door and the right fender. After inspecting the rust stains in both these areas, they DO NOT come off. The rust stains are embedded IN the paint. Will touching up the rust stains save the vehicle from rusting in these 2 areas where the rust stains are now present? The vehicle is brand new and only 1 week old. I do not want to have any body work done to it. What should I put on these rust stains before touching them up with White touch-up paint? PLEASE HELP ME.
I have a nordic white Santa Fe but I don't see that problem. Sometime I see spot but not rust and I can wash them away from the paint easily. However, I do recommended to to the car wax/polished to prevent further problem.
Good Luck getting touch-up paint. I was told by my dealership in KY it was on national back order & they couldn't even try to order until Set. I have a Merlot X. Am I the only one having problems? I've been trying to obtain paint since April.
I changed oil after 2,200 miles because of a coming trip of 1,000 miles round trip. I asked my dealer first if I can do my own oil change and not void the warranty. The engine splash guard DOES NOT HAVE TO BE REMOVED when changing oil. To remove the oil filter, a small access panel held by 8 mm bolts have to be removed. Use a strap wrench to loosen oil filter then turn by hand. The oil pan plug is at the back of the splash guard that has a semi circle cut out. Remove it using a 17 mm wrench. Drain oil. Use a plastic two litter bottle and cut in half to make a funnel. Belive me, not one drop of oil is spilled when pouring your oil. To Hung: By the looks of your picture, your skid plate is also made of hard plastic though you have V6 AWD. I think only hard plastic is used unless proven by other owners they have metal skid plates.
Surprisingly found out that Hyundai dealership have replaced Toyota in the very rich area in BC, the North/West Vancouver areas where those millionaires(lot of Dot.com millionaires) whose own multi-millions estate lived.
Now the neighbours beside the Hyundai dealer is Mercede Benz, Audi, Chrysler & Subaru.
When I delivered in that area before I've found a lot of Forester, may because the Forester is the cheapest SUV before, but now Hyundai are gonna to compete with all of those. I found a Subaru Forester & a VW Beetle have already traded for Santa Fe since the Hyundai dealer open its door few days ago! Come on, Die-Hard Forester fans have to face the cruel reality, Subaru is losing share in mini-Uti! People even go for Hyundai than Subaru! LOL (Not including the 2 very well equipped + low milage CR-V I've seem in other Hyundai dealers used car lot)
You are just inviting critizism to this board by taking on other SUV owners, and bragging about the Santa Fe. Why dont you just enjoy your Santa Fe and let it go at that.
Why not u go away? & enjoy your SF. I am here to show facts & try to help everybody, & what are u doing here? Are u want to stop "proud SF owner's(Here I am) FREE voice" & unwilling to see latest progress of Hyundai. What a passive Hyundai ower u are?
I've never criticize any other SUV & those are all my opinions, nothing wrong with its forum.
And the SUV owners other than SF have the right to be invited by me (Actually they visit us all the time!) We don't have bad thing to hide but we have tons of good thing to show.
I hope u are not thinking I'm try to ruin this forum, and I doubt do I have the power? All I have is just a digital camera & the chance of travelling a lot of mile everyday on the delivery job (more than most of the SUV owners here). My SF already reached 23,000km now (in 8 months).
I hope u are not against me too (My nationality?), if u are educated than I don't think so but otherwise, who know???
Too bad! Pls don't expect u like everyone here, we come here to explore something & we can't control it at all.
If I disagree somebody opinions, just post my own reasons, I will never ask others to shut up like what u did! Think about it (Deep thinking)!
I live in AZ and frequent the mountains. Whenever I go up the steep highway grade and have to step on the gas, I get inundated with sulpher smell. I have greater than 13,000 miles on vehicle now. Any ideas?

i ordered the shell from HDK... it didn't go out until the day after i ordered it and i felt it took quite a while to get to me. (almost a week) considering i am only about a 4-6 hour drive from HDK.
that aside... i got the grille on monday... and it was almost snapped in half. the box it comes is is very very flimsy so it is no wonder it came cracked.
i called Sam to tell him what happened and he sent me out a new one (in a different box) via next day FedEx.
mistakes happen but he took care of me.
just thought i would give him a public pat on the back.
now if he would only let me pre-order those altezza tail lights.
When I travelled in Rocky's Mountains two days ago, I also occasionally smell the burning Sulphur or Tar. But everytime I stopped and inspected there is no bad smell from the engine or where-ever, I just suspected it is from the cars that I've followed up the hill.
Next time if you smell the bad gas, pls stop & check your engine compartment to make sure it is OK, GOODLUCK!
Just got our 2001 sandstone GLS. Went through our local dealer's Internet site to get a price (at msrp, but no extra charges) and got the loan through an Internet bank. Easiest way to buy a car. If anyone wants details on process, i'll be happy to share. Love the vehicle so far, but we are having the paint chipping problem on lower half that others have posted messages on. Service guy at first said how could he be sure we didn't hit something to make paint chip...We told him about the paint postings on Edmunds and he changed his tune. Just waiting to hear on when we can get it repaired. In meantime, Does anyone have a good source for a quality bug deflector and dash cover? any pictures of them....thanks and great message board...
I have my Santa Fe in the shop now 7 days and counting, they have repainted the chipped lower plastic moulding under the door, and now they are attempting to repair the engine, I purchased my new Santa Fe from a New hyundai dealer, so i expected they wouldnt know exactly the problem. The problem is a miss in the engine at idle speeds, loss of power at take off, decrease in miles per gallon, and the infamous studder when in 2nd gear...ill keep you updated and if anyone has any suggestions about the studder, miss, or loss of power..please let me know....thanks
In response to billtung's comment on the Santa Fe commercials on tv, I made the same observation that they haven't been seen in months.
However, here in Pittsburgh, they are now showing some commercials again. I noticed them last week. I don't know if this is Hyundai's way of saying that more 2001 models will be shipped to US dealers or not.
The commercial shows a silver Santa Fe driving on a paved road until a red carpet is put down to follow into the mountains and rugged terrain. Still has the same song with it, that "freedom" thing.
If you have a 4 cyl SF and have it wanting to downshift or hiccup or hesitate while driving around 40 mph, go tot he dealership and have them download the flash fix for the vehicle. Please go to www.santafeforum.com and look in the "repair" forum, and read "there is a fix" . I have posted the tech info I got off my service work that was done 7-5-01. The vehicle runs alot better, acceleration is alot better. Also, if you have your SF in a shop for an extended amount of time, and they cannot fix the problem, contact your local attorney generals office for lemon laws. Also, you can contact the BBB autoline for help as well. The number for the BBB is in the manuel you have in your vehicle. By law, if you qualify for lemon law, then Hyundai will have to replace the vehicle. No word on a paint recall, but if you feel there is a "consistant" problem, and the majority rules, contact upper HMA execs. and voice your concerns. DO NOT GO THRU HMA CUSTOMER SERVICE. That will only delay the matter. I am still waiting a call back from HMA over a week on a part info, so cut to the chase, and contact HMA execs direct. If you look on the net, you can get there names, email addresses, phone numbers, etc. I had to do that with my problem, and had a reply and answer the next day.
ok... now this is a little unacceptable. first let me say, i am sure this is no relection on Sam at HDK personally but i mean damn...
1st grille shell i ordered came cracked in the middle like it was folded. HDK sent out a replacement which I got today.
today's grille shell was packed better in a sturdier box... but has a nice, noticable 1/4 gouge down to the plastic and 4-6 assorted surface scratches which can be seen when viewing the shell from different angles. this time... this damage could not have been caused by shipping.
when my wife phoned me to inform me of the condition of the new grille she said "it looks like someone screwed it up and packed it anyway."
i have yet to personally see it but my wife is much less anal then i am about stuff so if she notices it... you KNOW i will.
to me... new = immaculate. ESPECIALLY chrome. after i see it, i am going to determine if it is worth the trouble of asking sam to send me out another one. i am sure i will have no problem with him.
i am curious to hear other people's experience with HDK and the quality of thier products.
i am planning on ordering some side steps, grille guard and altezza tail lights from them but if i am going to have to go back and forth like this.. fuhgettaboutit.
on a lighter note (sarcasm)... my newly installed (less than 3 months) Kenwood KDC-MP8017 decided to stop working last night. i used a wiring kit so there is no chance of mis-wiring. the radio has been working fine since installation a month or so ago. initially the volume wouldn't respond... then the staions wouldn't change... when i turned it off and on again... it wouldn't come back on.
i looked for the radio fuse under the hood but there is nothing marked radio there. everything else seems to be working fine on the truck. maybe the radio just crapped out. good thing i kept the stock one and didn't have to cut any wires.
the fun never ends.
if anyone has a link to a proven wiring diagram for wiring the rear bumper lights to work with parking lights and stop lights.. please post it.
paint: we don't bang our doors but yesterday i noticed the door edges were feeling sort of rough.. maybe even chipping.. but it was too dark to see anything so i will look today after work.
later, keith
AFTER NOTE: ok.. 5 minutes after i posted this.. wifey called and said the radio is working. strange.
Unfortunately, I have had much the same luck as Keith with HDK.
I ordered mud flaps for the SF in March, and after several weeks of waiting, they shipped the wrong ones.
We called Sam, gave him the CORRECT part numbers off the web, and he said he would ship out the correct mud flaps Fed-Ex, and have the wrong ones picked up right away.
Two weeks later, the wrong parts were picked up, and several weeks later another set of mud flaps shows up, and ONE of the four fits, but all four are the SAME part. Each corner requires a different mud flap to fit the fender contour.
Call Sam again, and he vows to walk over to the warehouse and make sure the right parts get sent, overnight fed-ex, and the wrong ones will be picked up right away. Sam said I sould keep one of the four, and return the other three.
Again several weeks pass, no shipment, no pickup.
Finally, a box with FOUR incorrect mud flaps arrives!
Call Sam again, and ask for a charge-credit, and to pick up the last batch of mud flaps, as I am giving up on dealing with HDK Autosport.
Well here we are at July 5, (ordered in March) and I still have the wrong mud flaps sitting in a box waiting for pick-up, and NO charge credit.
I suspect I will have to go to the state attorney general to get a refund.
My rocker panel mouldings have gotten very stone-chipped because I don't have mud flaps, and I might as well just get them from the dealer and be done with it.
The worst part besides the waiting, is that I have had those plastic fasteners taken off SEVERAL times now, to try and attach the wrong mud flaps, and now they no longer will grasp anything. (Sam promised to send some replacement fasteners, but he never did that either).
While some people seem to have good luck dealing with HDK, for me it has been exasperating.
Hi folks, I finally have most of my website up with plenty of information about installing a car alarm/remote starter or having one installed. I also have some photos of when I installed the OEM bug/stong deflector on my aunt's GL. It's very simple, but the instruction sheet needed some more visuals. The Santa Fe links are near the bottom of the homepage. Tom's Sonata Pages BTW, a neighbor had his tow truck tampered with the same night my alarm paged me, and a few days later the police were able to catch the 2 guys after this neighbor saw them trying to steal his strobes again.
Does anyone know how the Hyundai bug deflector is attached to the vehicle. I called my local dealer today and the guy in the parts department couldn't tell me how they are attached, and didn't seem too interested in finding out. I would rather not drill holes in my hood and since there are other companies that make deflectors that clip on, I would rather go that route unless anyone knows that they aren't that good. Any advice?
I had a few bad experiences with HDK waaaaaay back. First I ordered chrome side steps only to receive black plastic ones. And the U-Haul box they had been shipped in was smashed beyond belief and had minimal, useless packing materials. Finally got the correct step rails with no installation instructions. Ordered chrome brush guard and the first one I got was damaged so I had to send it back. Again, the packing was terrible. Finally (weeks later) got the replacement and it was supposed to have been shipped directly to me from Korea, so I was told. Funny though, when it arrived it had HDK paperwork in it. Hmmmmm....strange. So needless to say, I will never deal with them again. Frankly I am surprised that they are still in business considering all the foul ups they seem to do. Just my 2 cents.
I know this probably isn't the right place to post this but I just gotta let you know. I was reading on an auto detailers web site the other day and learned something new. If the front of your car is covered with bug guts, try the following. When you're getting ready to wash your car and have the hose ready, get a dryer softener sheet and wet it. Use the wet dryer sheet to scrub the bug guts off, rinse immediately and thoroughly. I tried it this morning and it worked great, it even removed the road tar from the wheels. My boyfried tried it on some old tape residue on the roof of his Tacoma and it melted it right off. I don't know about you but I don't like using harsh chemicals on my Santa Fe, especially because it's black and shows everything. Another product I bought recently and love is a synthetic towel called "The Absorber". They sell for roughly $9.00 at Wal-Mart and work fantastic. It dries your car in minutes, is easy to wring out and leaves no lint. Everybody should have one in their detail bucket. I've had my GLS/2WD/ABS/TCS for one month now and I love it more every day. I had the two front door windows tinted to match the back windows, installed a brushed aluminum dash kit from edashkit.com (only complaint: not enough adhesive promoter), and installed a Sony CDX-M600 radio. I'm still considering the front chrome grill piece, altezzas, and fender flares. After all the negative feedback about HDK though, I dunno. Enjoy your weekend.
Has anyone installed a hard plastic luggage carrier/cargo box for their manta be yet? My wife and I looked at the Yakima and Thole ones today - not cheap - $239.00 and up. We were told at one dealer that the Yakima brand requires purchase of some cross rails for about $150.00 (the factory cross rails supposedly will not work) and locks for approx $40.00 PLUS the cost of the cargo box itself. Seems pretty expensive to me! I looked at Sears and the luggage carriers they had said nothing about buying different cross bars but their carriers were 'boxy' looking compared to the Yakima and Thole versions (but were a lot cheaper in price!). If anyone has used one of these hard plastic carriers PLEASE advise me as to the type, cost and ease of installation. Thanks!
Yak and Thule are pretty proud of their stuff. You may want to browse through the Rooftop Luggage Carriers discussion for a few more comments.
Yakima was just sold to WaterMark, a holding company out of Atlanta, who also owns a couple of kayak/canoe companies, so maybe they'll begin some "economy of scale" things, and start rotomolding cheaper plastic cargo boxes.
There's always Packasport out of Bend OR, if you want to go upscale -- their racks start around $740 US. Steve Host Vans, SUVs and Aftermarket & Accessories Message Boards

I have been meaning to post for a month now the fact that Consumer Reports magazine had a very objective article on them last month. I am not interested in one for myself so I did not study ii carefully. You can probably find a copy at the library. Although I disagree with the magazines political philosophy, they are pretty good at analyzing mechanical things. They had some praise for the Santa Fe.
as i posted previously, my first stock radio fell victim to a miserly toddler so who felt the best place to save hic change was the radio... heck, the cd slot is big enough.
so i got that repaired and opted to get a cd/mp3 player (kenwood mp8017) which i have been very happy with up until friday when it started acting erractically.
well what do you think was inside the radio when i pulled it out... a shiney new nickel which my money saving son managed to fit into the exact nickle sized hole between the flip face of the radio and the bezel... and we thought we were doing something good.. teaching him how to put pennies in his piggy bank.
the radio wasn't damaged and i threw the nickle as far as i could away from the car. haha.
PS. HDK sent me another damaged grille due to poor poor packaging. i am now sending both of them back to Sam (packed the way they SHOULD have been packed) and asking for a refund... not because I don't want one... but now Sam says he is out of stock. unbeleivable...
i hope the altezza tailights don't turn out to be such a fiasco. it kind of sucks that he is the only game in town when it comes to parts like these for our trucks. sam is a good guy and all so far but i have yet to be satisfied.
hung.. you live a couple of thousand miles away... does Sam pack your stuff better? ther is no way you can tell me your stuff gets there unharmed and mine cant make it just over 400 miles.
Keith, I think the pkg. shipping is an ancient chinese secret, and cant not be revealed ! If I were you, I would wait, which I know is hard to do, as I am waiting myself, but wait for aftermarket USA companies to get their items on the SF made. have been told by EVERY aftermarket company I have called, and trust me, I have called alot, they all said..a new vehicle will take 6 mo. to a year, maybe longer to get parts out. Also, some companies wont make itmes until the vehicles get large in number. It cost them alot to get molds, templates, production orders up and running. I do know an HMA exec told me in the coming months, they will be adding alot of parts to their accessory catalog for the SF. So, be patient, and do it the good ol fashioned USA way, WAIT !!!
i think you have the good ol fashioned way twisted...
it's don't wait... get it now!!! why else would credit cards have made it so huge in the US as opposed to everywhere else.
it is our rush to be the first on the block or be the next on the block to keep up with the jones'.
i am guilty as sin of this but what am i going to do. i am willing to wait to buy everything at once and take a road trip down to Sam (6-8 hours) just to get my stuff 1st hand.
the 2nd grille i got was scratched.. pretty bad... but i want it so bad i ALMOST accepted it and put it on. my wife and brother talked me out of it and told me to do something else like the bumperlights or something.
8 more days until i get my 2 tone custom leather interior. i can't WAIT. haha
Keith, I am like you, I cant wait myself, but I am realy trying to do so. I went so far as to contact Canadian dealership and AUSTRALIAN dealers to get parts. I was willing to pay shipping from BOTH countries for the accessories. But after I heard HMA was working on them for USA I had to say..it will be worth it in the long run. As tot he seats, I too am wanting to do that, but wife is saying..that is money wasted. I was loking at Katzkin brand, two tone, (black/grey middle) Can do it in one day, and the cost was $1,300 for all seats. So tempted...but will wait !
The bugdeflector is held on with 4 clips. There's one on each outer side of the hood, and 2 that go through the grill and are further secured with some screws. Check this page for some close-ups. Unfortunately, my aunt misplaced the non-abrasion pads after I gave it to her to hold onto (until I could install it), so I had to improvise. I don't have any finished photos up because it was dark by the time I got done, but I like the Santa Fe logo it has on the front (missing on the brochure's photo) and it does make the SaFe look more "sporty". Keep in mind that you won't be able to use the automatic car washes with it installed, but you might be able to remove it temporarily in case you did, like in the winter months. I'm not sure how the "3M bumpons" would hold up or if they're replaceable.

Today I got a 3/4 inch body moulding at advance auto parts and applied just under the crease , so it sticks out about a 1/4 inch past the crease. Hopefully this will prevent further nicks.

May be there are too many good reports about SF & XG300 already, that why they want to save the expensive TV ad expense.
but the title of your message says:
"go away Irchome by billtung "

it didn't go out until the day after i ordered it and i felt it took quite a while to get to me. (almost a week) considering i am only about a 4-6 hour drive from HDK.
that aside... i got the grille on monday... and it was almost snapped in half. the box it comes is is very very flimsy so it is no wonder it came cracked.
i called Sam to tell him what happened and he sent me out a new one (in a different box) via next day FedEx.
mistakes happen but he took care of me.
just thought i would give him a public pat on the back.
now if he would only let me pre-order those altezza tail lights.
kc.
Next time if you smell the bad gas, pls stop & check your engine compartment to make sure it is OK, GOODLUCK!
My wife and I are having our first baby in the fall, and plan on getting a Santa Fe prior to the big day.
Our question is: Are there child car seat "tether's" or anchors mounted in the rear of the Santa Fe like the ones found in the Ford Escape??
Thanks in advance for you help...

In meantime, Does anyone have a good source for a quality bug deflector and dash cover? any pictures of them....thanks and great message board...
ESPECIALLY chrome. after i see it, i am going to determine if it is worth the trouble of asking sam to send me out another one. i am sure i will have no problem with him.
i am curious to hear other people's experience with HDK and the quality of thier products.
i am planning on ordering some side steps, grille guard and altezza tail lights from them but if i am going to have to go back and forth like this..
fuhgettaboutit.
on a lighter note (sarcasm)...
my newly installed (less than 3 months) Kenwood KDC-MP8017 decided to stop working last night. i used a wiring kit so there is no chance of mis-wiring. the radio has been working fine since installation a month or so ago. initially the volume wouldn't respond... then the staions wouldn't change... when i turned it off and on again... it wouldn't come back on.
i looked for the radio fuse under the hood but there is nothing marked radio there. everything else seems to be working fine on the truck. maybe the radio just crapped out. good thing i kept the stock one and didn't have to cut any wires.
the fun never ends.
if anyone has a link to a proven wiring diagram for wiring the rear bumper lights to work with parking lights and stop lights.. please post it.
paint: we don't bang our doors but yesterday i noticed the door edges were feeling sort of rough.. maybe even chipping.. but it was too dark to see anything so i will look today after work.
later,
keith
AFTER NOTE: ok.. 5 minutes after i posted this.. wifey called and said the radio is working. strange.

BTW, a neighbor had his tow truck tampered with the same night my alarm paged me, and a few days later the police were able to catch the 2 guys after this neighbor saw them trying to steal his strobes again.

Thanks,

so i got that repaired and opted to get a cd/mp3 player (kenwood mp8017) which i have been very happy with up until friday when it started acting erractically.
well what do you think was inside the radio when i pulled it out... a shiney new nickel which my money saving son managed to fit into the exact nickle sized hole between the flip face of the radio and the bezel... and we thought we were doing something good.. teaching him how to put pennies in his piggy bank.
the radio wasn't damaged and i threw the nickle as far as i could away from the car. haha.

So, be patient, and do it the good ol fashioned USA way, WAIT !!!
it's don't wait... get it now!!! why else would credit cards have made it so huge in the US as opposed to everywhere else.
it is our rush to be the first on the block or be the next on the block to keep up with the jones'.
i am guilty as sin of this but what am i going to do. i am willing to wait to buy everything at once and take a road trip down to Sam (6-8 hours) just to get my stuff 1st hand.
the 2nd grille i got was scratched.. pretty bad... but i want it so bad i ALMOST accepted it and put it on. my wife and brother talked me out of it and told me to do something else like the bumperlights or something.
8 more days until i get my 2 tone custom leather interior. i can't WAIT. haha
keith
I went so far as to contact Canadian dealership and AUSTRALIAN dealers to get parts. I was willing to pay shipping from BOTH countries for the accessories. But after I heard HMA was working on them for USA I had to say..it will be worth it in the long run.
As tot he seats, I too am wanting to do that, but wife is saying..that is money wasted. I was loking at Katzkin brand, two tone, (black/grey middle) Can do it in one day, and the cost was $1,300 for all seats. So tempted...but will wait !
