I understand what you are getting at. Hum, say on the '07 Acadia SLT 1, spread between MSRP and invoice is $2,160. Room for Ad fees in that. Spread between TMV and invoice is only $552, about what the Ad fees seem to be running average. So, is net profit before holdback, volume incentives, etc. pretty much $0 after deducting the Ad fees (or adding them to base invoice). I'm glad I have not put out the million to buy a dealership and make minimal profit on a pretty poplar vehicle.

Now getting to the regional ad fees, with network advertising, satellite radio, internet, etc. I don't see any more difference in having national Ad fees that having national destination fees. Maybe it will eventually come to that, but I'm wondering if checking the smaller town, lower overhead dealers might be a good idea. I know they don't have the same volume, but if their overhead is much lower and they get hit with minimal Ad fees, then they might be able to have a lower net sales price than the high volume, high overhead, high Ad fee dealers in the 'big city'.

Hey, I've got it now...this is some of the 'new' math they started teaching after I got out of school...dang, my 40th high school reunion is just a couple of years from now.

My neighbor works for an RV dealer and some one traded in their Acadia for an RV. It has 11,000 miles on it, silver, fully loaded, I mean every options available. He can sell it to me for $34,500 plus tax/tag/title. Is that a good deal?

I am looking at a 2008 Acadia SLT2 AWD with leather seats. Does anyone have the actual front seat dimensions? Would like to compare with my current autos. Thanks for the help.
  • steve151steve151 Member Posts: 3
If it truly has every option, sounds like a good deal. I had dealer offer $37,900 for '07 SLT-2 and it did not have DVD or Navigation. Thought it was still pretty good deal but decided to buy '08 instead.

I was quoted the following; 2007 SLT 1 AWD, with minimal options. 36,600, .59 residual, 6.9%, $1985 down which consists of 1st payment, Sec deposit, Acq fee and DMV fees. Monthly lease payment = $586 for 39 months. Good, bad or ugly???

    MSRP: $45,310.00
Selling Price: $41,000 (according to their papers, it's $671.85 below invoice...but according to my local dealer who I talked to, it's $1,047.05 below invoice...and I have a hard copy of those papers as well...have no idea why invoice is different at these two dealerships...they are about 150 miles apart)
Documentation Fee: $250 (I didn't put up a fight on this since the price was so good)
County sales tax of 6.5%: $2681.25
    Title Fee: $15.00
    30 day tag: $10.50
OTD price: $43,956.75 (before GM earnings)

GM Card Earnings are appx. $3400

Knocking it down to ~ $40,556 OTD

No trade was involved...found a dealership (Sellers in Farmington Hills, MI) who was selling vehicles through autotrader at just above employee pricing. I used that web site and linked it in with emails to numerous other dealerships in the area. Many dealerships thought I was lying...but it's right there on the web. One dealership came $500 above Seller's price but would deliver it to my house...so I said, "Sold!"

I understand different people, different preferences but why pay 45K for a GM while you could get a Mercedes ML500 for the same price ?

The reason I'm posting this cause I saw the Acadia onthe raod for the first time yesterday and kinda interested in it but after finding out the price....hell no! I rather go with the Merc unless I'm missing something here.

I'm guessing because one has a big 3rd row and one has none at all, for starters...

And Mercedes has a horrible quality reputation, with all the problems far costlier to repair than on domestic vehicles as a general rule.
  • nxs138nxs138 Member Posts: 481
That's because no one is paying $45k for a GM...most people are paying near invoice, and even lower with the rebates that were going on.
  • fenwahfenwah Member Posts: 58
I paid a bit over $40k for OTD price on a $45,310 vehicle. If you add on tax for the MSRP, then you add almost $3k to the vehicle price...bringing it over $48k. So I consider my $40k OTD price reasonable. If I didn't have a GM Credit card with all those earnings, I probably would have bought...well, I don't know what I would have bought. I needed three rows of seats that were easy to get in and out of, and I didn't want a minivan. That meant there weren't a lot of options.

I have one on order due to arrive on 9/4.. ITS A SLT-2 with navigation and headup display added for 38,700
  • jbruno15jbruno15 Member Posts: 4
I ordered a 2008 Slt-2 on 7/2 and its due to arrive on 9/4 so the 6-8 weeks I was told was pretty accurate. GMC didn't manufacture enough for the demand on the 2007's. I heard they are putting on more shifts to make the 2008's. The Acadia exceeded their expectations so I guess thats the reason for the delay.
  • jbruno15jbruno15 Member Posts: 4
I bought in Northern NJ and also got the supplier price. Its a Slt-2 w/navigation and headup display added. MSRP was just under 41k and I got it for 38,700. Its coming in on 9/4 and the dealer now is telling me that I cant get the 1000.00 conquest rebate along with the supplier price. I'm working on him on that one.
  • fenwahfenwah Member Posts: 58
I believe the dealer is right. I don't think you can get the conquest rebate when getting the supplier discount.
  • vinnynyvinnyny Member Posts: 764
Show me the fully equipped ML500 for $45k and I'll buy it today. (Even if it means leaving two of my kids and most of our gear home). These two vehicles are not comparable in price, seating capacity, interior volume, or overall utility. While the Benz clearly outshines the GMC in performance and panache, it falls short of the American in the areas that matter to most familiies. I own a 07 C350, 04 BMW Conv, and an 06 Honda Odyssey--guess which one piles up the most miles each year. I love the ML and the BMW X5, I'm thinking of trading the Ody for an Acadia or Yukon Denali because the Germans just can't do the job.

Just took delivery of our 08 Acadia AWD - Slt2 model - love it - paid $38000 with the conquest rebate. Had it ordered with no nav or sunroof but otherwise all the other options. Can't wait to get on the road with it.

Took delivery today 08 Acadia SLT-2 MSRP $41,440, Wrote a check for $43,714. 6% tax included. I love this thing. No doc fees No ADM, No Ad fees.

What dealership did you buy your 08 Acadia from? My local dealership wants to add on the doc fees, ad fees, etc.
  • beb1beb1 Member Posts: 1
I ordered an 08 SLT-1 that should be delivered in a couple of weeks. Had to pay the Ad fee. Paid $500 over invoice plus Ad fee. Does anyone know if the Conquest Rebate is still being offered and if it is $1,000 or $500 ?

I am looking at the 2008 SLE Acadia and wondered if anyone could give me the Invoice price? I am wanting the Cloth seats with 2nd row captains chairs and Power Driver seat. I have been quoted $29,800 and supposedly Invoice is $29,000. Didn;t ask if there were any other fees involved. Am I being taken or is this a fair price?

I bought my Acadia 3 months ago. In the dealer's packet, there was a piece of paper said, 2 or 3 weeks after the purchase, I would receive the satisfactory survey via mail from GM. The paper said, by returning the completed survey to he dealership, I could get $100 value auto maintenance.

I did not receive it. During 3 months I received all kinds of mails come with the purchase, such as XM radio,On-Star,Title, registration, banking documents, even a mail from GM Customer relationship Deparment asked me to fill out the survey.... My address does not lose mails and if it does, the survey could be the only lost one.

I post my question here, just because I am curious, because I personally had a very bad buying experience with the dealership and they should know I hate those liers very much (but not the car).

I called my dealer for that, got alot of stupid nonsense. They asked me if I have different address, if I put a company name on my home address.... Also emailed a GM branch, was told all surveys are mailed out on time but only one time, they do not have a customer list to confirm the sending... No help.

Frankly, I really doubt if the dealership notified MG(customer survey department)I bought the vehichle. I do not really think it is a big deal weather I received that survey but it just makes me more angry with those liers.
  • manufan1manufan1 Member Posts: 26
Good for AWD but maybe not for FWD. with a $29800 purchase, you may need to pay around $35000 after all fees (based on NY).

But I personally do not think it is a big deal to pay hundreds of dollars more if you find the right car with the right option in dealer's parking lot. The ones in parking lot for test drive ususally have no problem and good for break in. You may never find a cheaper one with the options you want, or after waiting for couple of months for you order, you get one with major problem.

Acadia is very popular now so I do not think you can get very big discount but you need to make sure to find the one fits you need and very reliable.

Hi, since I´m totally new to this site and forum as well as to the USA (just arrived from Germany), I was wondering if someone could help me a bit with a quote I just got from a Dealer for a 2008 Acadia SLT-2 AWD, with DVD, Sunroof, HUD, Trailering Package, HID Lamps that i would like to buy. It has a MSRP of 42.200 and he offered me $43.000 including Taxes, Title, Licence, everything, as he called it out of the door. I asked him if ther is going to be anything on top, what he declined. Does this really include everything and is this a good deal in your opinion? And what exactly is an invoice price and how much would it be for that vehicle. Hope someone can help me Please advise. Thanks in advance. :shades:
  • manufan1manufan1 Member Posts: 26
All you need to get is how much for the car itself, not the quot include tax, title....Dealer will always ask you how much you want pay for a month if you finance it, and if you want to trade in your old car.... They just want to mix every thing up to get you confused.

Highly recommand you go to MSN.com and click AUTO. By entering your year, model and options you'll get MSRP and dealer's invoice price, which is the amount the dealers pay the manufacturer for the new car. That website also teaches you a lot of bargain skills like where you should get your counter offer start. So you'll know where your dealer's offer from and why they deal with you like that. Most of the fees are not for the dealership, they are for the government, DMV etc, so by law you have to pay. Spent some time on MSN, you'll learn a lot.

A reporter from a national newspaper is hoping to talk to consumers who purchased a car recently instead of waiting, fearing that prices may rise as the dollar weakens. Please reply to ctalati@edmunds.com no later than Monday, October 1, 2007 with your daytime contact info.

Curious, maybe I missed something, but my GMCard site offers a max of $1000 in earnings to use on an Arcadia. (Texas) I figured GM fine tuned their rebates and GMCard money by region, but $2400 is more than a little fine tuning.
  • vinnynyvinnyny Member Posts: 764
It depends on which GM Card you have. The old gold card had a $500 limit on earnings each year but no limit on redemptions at purchase time. The new platinum card has no limit on annual earnings, but set redemption limits at purchase (in this case, $1,000 on Acadia).
  • dardson1dardson1 Member Posts: 696
thanks, I never knew that. I use mine for my business and the $ adds up quickly. I used it on an 04 Tahoe ($2000+), and on an 06 Tahoe($3100). It's a heck of a deal, and I'm surprised how few people take advantage of it.
  • vinnynyvinnyny Member Posts: 764
I made the mistake of trading my old card for the new one. Now I've got about $10k in earnings and can only use about $1k every other year or so. Once in a blue moon they'll do a special where they raise the limits--I spanked them with $4k the last time they had it.
  • dardson1dardson1 Member Posts: 696
Whichever card I have I'm limited to $1000 on a new Acadia. I'm limited to $1500 on a Tahoe/Yukon which seems kinda odd to me as I see plenty of the big SUV's around. I feel sure they've got some serious bean counters who know how to massage the numbers. I've watched this stuff for years and they often bump up the GMCard allowances before they bump the rebates and then lower the GMCard allowances when they bump up the rebates. Whatever they allow, it's a gift. I've used credit cards for 30 years with zero perks. My GMCard has saved me $6k+ since 2002. Best I can tell it's real money. I never mention a thing about my credit card money until I've made the deal, and it comes right off the bottom line. love that card.
  • vinnynyvinnyny Member Posts: 764
I'm a huge fan of the GM card--I've redeemed $5001 so far. I wish I had kept the old card with its unlimited redemption amounts. I'd probably buy another car every year if they let me use all my earnings each time.

So which winds up better? Haggling or going with supplier pricing?
  • beach15beach15 Member Posts: 1,305
Same here. Actually, we've never accumulated too much on it, but just collecting "GM cash" for spending money elsewhere has always been fine by us.

Right now we're actually itching to buy an Enclave, but with the past 2 GM vehicles...about a month after purchase was when a GM Card bonus earnings thing would show up, with an extra $1 or $2k on top of what was already there. If we could only get another one of those card bonuses soon...and not go buy again, only to have it show up the next day :)

I was told recently "usually in December-January-February", but of course, just a good guess.

I am looking at both the Outlook and the Acadia.Wife likes outlook interior more. I know the Acadia has slightly better suspension but for wife those things aren't big deal.

So with my Supplier discount a loaded Outlook FWD (nav, dvd player, trailer, back uo cam, leather, 7 passenger, remote start package) with an MSRP of 39,910 has a supplier price of $38301. I believe there is also $500 cash.

My GMC dealer has a comparably equipped Acadia FWD. Everything but the HUD and wheel package. MSRP $42360 Supplier price $39638.

Since GMC does not have fixed pricing like Saturn, should I offer $500 (or more or less) below invoice? Or just offer the Saturn price? I know they have a god size inventory at my SoCal dealer in town so supply is not an issue. Many of you have noted the dealers are getting above invoice on the Acadia but I have to give it a shot.

I may wind up with the Saturn since its my wife's car but I want her to see both.

    Any advice is appreciated.
  • vinnynyvinnyny Member Posts: 764
When I was actively shopping two weeks ago, my local GMC dealer offered me any Acadia on his lot for invoice less incentives. He even offered to order me one to my specifications at invoice less incentives. Just about every dealer I spoke with offered the same deal. I'm in VA where the market is a lot less competitive than SoCal, so you should easily be able to match my offers.
  • johnbrainjohnbrain Member Posts: 10
I created a lease spreadsheet with everything I've learned here. Is it possible to get an SLT2 2wd with nav dvd sunroof leather 7 passenger comfort pkg zero down zero drive off for UNDER $590/month in SoCal?
  • laker34laker34 Member Posts: 27
    Which dealer in SoCal?
  • zoesdadzoesdad Member Posts: 5
Been monitoring for a while so now it's my turn to post:

As noted in title, '08 SLT-1 FWD
Liquid Silver Metallic with Ebony Leather
    2-2-3 seating
    Preferred Pkg
    Convenience Pkg
    Rear power liftgate
    heated wiper fluid
    115V power outlet

    MSRP: $35,500
Total purchase price: $33,871 ($32,793 selling price + $1,055 sales tax + $23 tags and fees).

Essentially, I was given a $500 Conquest rebate and a "preferred customer discount" of $2,707.

I believe invoice was approximately $32,300.

Wanted the dual sunroof but dealer did not have a FWD SLT-1 with both 2nd row captains chairs and the dual sunroof. Most vehicles on the lot were AWD, which I didn't want. (Didn't necessarily want the heated wiper fluid or power outlet either, but that is how it was equipped...).

Had a nice sales experience with dealer, all-in-all (J. Koons in Tyson's Corner, VA).

Please let me know if you have any reaction; good, bad or indifferent to this purchase, thanks!

GMC is offering 0% financing for 60 months on all remaining Acadia's. First saw this on TV and verified it on PAGMCDeals.com. Has anyone purchased an 07 using this offer?
  • winedogswinedogs Member Posts: 102
What should I expect to pay on an 07 Acadia this late in the year? I would assume that having 08's in the market should put a 07 Acadia well under invoice? Any input would be appreciated. :)

I got a quote for 2008 GMC Acadia SLE-1 FWD with 2 Captains Chairs (ABB), Remote Keyless Entry with Remote start, Ultrasonic Rear Assist (PDD) and AM/FM Radio w/In-Dash CD Changer (US8) for $29,706 + TT&L.

This quote was from Ewing Plano, TX dealership and in response to a quote request from Edmunds.

Is this a good price? I also noticed that they applied a $500 rebate to get to the $29,706? Is this the conquest rebate and is it 500 or a 1000?

    Hi,
I've been following this forum and the Saturn Outlook forum as well.

The Outlook forum seems to be very, very slow. I am more interested in the Outlook because I prefer its looks over the Acadia. But, no one seems to be posting in the 'prices paid' area.

Does this mean that people don't like the Outlook? Or is just that you can get a better deal on an Acadia?

I've been reading other GMC forums and no one really has metioned any thing, except that the Outlooks aren't selling as well as the Acadia... But why? Is it just the price difference?

So, I have sent requests for quotes on the Outlook all over California, and everyone is just asking MSRP. I guess that's why people rather go with the Acadia. But, I really do like the Outlook a bit more and will try to see if they come down in price since they are not selling very well.
  • vad1819vad1819 Member Posts: 309
I had not really good experience with Saturn dealer. I came to one this and test drove. I like everything and we start negotiating price. One moment I start felt like they don't want to sell this car. I don't know how to explain, but maybe some one had same experience, it's like you trying hard to buy and they are trying hard not to sell it. After that I went to GMC, I felt very pleasant environment. That's why i bought Acadia.
  • jdscijdsci Member Posts: 5
    Hi Everyone,

Last week, I just got an '08 Acadia SLT-2, with Nav, DVD, sunroof, HID, Tow Package, Pearl paint, 19' wheels minus the wheel credit... I think that's it. I need to pull the actual invoice numbers from my purchase contract (not with me now) to post here so you all can confirm the deal, but my recollection is that I paid $42,250. Invoice should have been approximately $42,011 (including destination - but not including bogus advertising fees, etc)

Got the deal by calling the local fleet managers (who these days are just the internet manager) of several dealers, and asked them what SLT-2's they had on their lots for immediate purchase.

Pretty standard procedure for me, but a number of dealers tried to tell me invoice included their advertising fees (as much as $800/vehicle) and a couple other smaller charges. Edmunds has the accurate data, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Finally got my deal (essentially $250 over Edmund's invoice) and they still gave me the $500 GM conquest discount. Pretty cool.

    Good luck out there!

I would love to hear from someone who has installed aftermarket lock pick and/or bluetooth in an Acadia/Outlook/Buick-Egg
  • amoviefan1amoviefan1 Member Posts: 24
    Hi Bruce.

Unless Saturn has changed their policy, they always sell their vehicles at MSRP. Saturn doesn't negotiate on their new vehicles. They just hand you a pricing sheet when you walk in. They claim that's why their prices are lower (no negotiating). The only thing they negotiate is on a trade-in. Good luck, man.
  • wlbrown9wlbrown9 Member Posts: 867
re: Saturn pricing policy... My daughter was buying a used Saturn years ago and they claimed to not even negotiate pricing on their used vehicles. IIRC, late in the 2007 model year there was a $1000 or so rebate.

My wife is covered under the GM Supplier discount program. I can get the GSM pricing for Buick and GM from their web page...for Saturn it says contact dealer for pricing details...so, I guess you get some discount but it is not published.

I don't think the Outlook has any price advantage over the Acadia with the same equipment...the base Outlook has a little less equipment standard than the Acadia so when you add that to the base Outlook, the pricing is about the same. Acadia might even be less if you can get a discount off MSRP and Saturn does not discount.

    Motorola DC800 Bluetooth Gateway

    Congrats on your purchase jdsci

I am responding to your question about Bluetooth:

I am not sure if the Motorola DC800 Gateway will fit your requirements, but using this adapter, the A/C outlet and the rear aux input, I can play music via bluetooth & the Acadia's Bose system from my Samsung Sync phone. No permenant installation required - do it yourself. And it is cheap.

I spent hours trying to find a DC-powered alternative, but this was in August 2007 when I did the research, there might be something better out there today, at least I know this works. I use it almost daily except on very short trips.

You might look at this product and think that looks like it is for a home stereo only, but by using the A/C outlet included with the Acadia's rear entertainment system, it works fine. The DC800 only runs on AC power.

For me it was the coolest addition I could have made to the Acadia. I plugged in the unit and threw it in the console running the wires between the console and the driver's seat, the wires are barely visible (much cleaner than having a cable dangling from the dashboard input). Next, I paired my phone with the DC800 this was a little tricky because you have to tell your bluetooth player to start playing music via bluetooth before it will look for bluetooth headsets. It found the DC800 (I think you also have to push the button on the front of the DC800 to make it visible).

Anyway since the first pairing, my phone finds it automatically and plays the music no problem. I have combined this setup with the Rhapsody to Go music service. Since the Samsung Sync phone is compatible with the "Plays for Sure" subscription music standard, I can pick and choose from over 4,000,000 songs to transfer to and play from my phone for $14.99/month. Non of that $.99/song BS.

If your an IPOD user, you might need something like this.

    IPOD Bluetooth adapter

I love to demonstrate it, standing at the rear of the Acadia, I use the rear audio controls to switch to the Rear Aux Input source, set my phone to play through the Bluetooth and crank up the volume. Most people just scratch their heads and say: "I've never seen anything like that before, but it sure does sound good".

You should know that this solution does not provide any Bluetooth telephone capability, it only acts as a Bluetooth headset (for playing music through the Acadia's stereo). When I get a call, I still have to answer and talk through the phone. But you do hear the phone ring through the Acadia's stereo.

Others should note that this solution requires that you purchased the DVD rear entertainment system with your Acadia.

Hope this helps & Good Luck
  • jdscijdsci Member Posts: 5
Thanks for the detailed response jwc8888.

I can see why you would like that setup! It does sound like a good way to get your playlists onto the car's system.

Unfortunately for me, I am mainly looking for information about Bluetooth telephone capability.

I'm thinking about the Blueant Supertooth Light, which is portable and will work in any car independantly, but I'd love to hear that someone has an integrated system in their 2007 or later GM product.

    Thanks,
    -J

Got my 2008 for $130 over invoice and will get whatever rebates are in place when car arrives.

SLT-2 with no upgrades. They will deal if you don't take one off the lot. They can't get enough for the floor, but they will order one since they don't have to carry the cost.
