The $16,250 comes from TFS, and the $5350 is a separate incentive offered by the state of Colorado - it's broken out in our information.

Talk with a finance manager, not a salesperson. I've found that they don't always have the correct information when it comes to incentives.

I talk with the finance manager and he even call the General Manager. Not sure what’s happening. I talk with Toyota of Colorado Springs and Toyota Boulder Colorado.

Not sure what else to tell you, other than to contact other dealers and see if you get any different information.

It's also possible that the dealers are being greedy by claiming the CO credit is part of the TFS incentive.

My math may be a little off, but the sentiment is accurate. the idea being that if a car cost $50,000 and depreciates 53%, (26,500) that’s 13,250 the first and second year, or $1104 a month, where the third year depreciates only $3000 or $250 a month. 75% less

So a 2 year lease cost you $1104 a month.
And 3 year cost you (29,500/36) $819 28% less

Is this escalation typical? Just assumed there might be some variation, but not this drastic from a 2 to 3 year lease. They are practically begging you to pick the three year lease over the 2 year.

Edit- I guess we don’t really have many 12 month leases to see the residuals, but in a average car it looks like first year depreciation is 30%, second year 15%, then single digit percents after that in the third year.

Nissan has an 18 month lease term on the Ariya.

But, the bank sets up the residual values (and MF and incentives) to achieve a specific payment. I doubt they are looking at the year 1, year 2, etc. numbers like you are. Just the big picture.

And yes, many lease programs are intentionally designed to promote a certain lease term.
