There is either a slight bump to the MF, or the cap cost isn't what you think it is - those are the only two variables in the lease payment calculation.

I have shopped it around and all the dealers are within a few dollars of each other. The only way I might be able to do better is if I started shopping up in LA - and even then, I'm not sure how much better of a deal I could get - and I'd have to deal with the hassle of going to LA from San Diego just to shave a couple of dollars off the monthly payment.

We ended up settling on a QX80 Luxe 4WD with some extra dealer installed bells and whistles, most notably black-wrapped roof, powder coated wheels, and tint. Picture of the vehicle is below.

Total cash out of pocket was $4,000; about $3,550 went towards first month payment and all of the fees, and the remaining $450 was just cash down.
Monthly payment is $1,477.87 for 39 months.

Supposedly the dealer "lost" about $1,100 on the deal because they needed to sell some units by Jan 2, 2025 to hit their monthly goal so they could get a bonus from Infiniti. I take this with a grain of salt as I'm not convinced a dealer would purposely lose money on a deal just to sell a vehicle - but what do I know. In any event, we paid more than we would have liked - but the cost of leasing vehicles is not what it used to be.

For reference, our current vehicle is a 2021 Ford Expedition Max Platinum, which we leased in 2021 at 0.9% interest and are paying $960 per month for 36 months (the lease ends February 6). A 2024 Expedition Max Limited (I don't think the 2024 model year has a Platinum trim) is in the $1,350 per month range. From a personal preference standpoint, the 2025 QX80 is a superior vehicle in terms of performance, fit & finish, technology, and luxury. The only minor drawback is the Expedition offers more trunk space - which is nice because we have two little boys. But at the end of the day, the ~$125 difference in monthly payments for the QX80 compared to another Expedition was justifiable for us.

We looked at quite a few different vehicles over the past couple of months including the aforementioned Expedition Max, BMW X7, Chevy Tahoe, Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, and the GMC Yukon. None of those vehicles lease particularly well given the low residual values and high money factors. Don't get me wrong, the QX80 has a very high money factor as well (comes out to over 8% APR), but the 60%+ residual eases the pain a little bit. At the end of the day, we felt the QX80 was superior to the competition from a performance, luxury, and pricing perspective.

Yes, sometimes dealers will make supposedly "bad" deals to hit a volume bonus from the manufacturer that more than makes up any lost money from the one sale.
