MB did the "lifetime" thing starting in the late 90s. Not the best decision with the higher output AMG cars, which should have a service maybe every 50K miles or so. I've seen failures in W210 E55 AMG at maybe 150K miles if treated like the "lifetime" claim, but generally they hold up.

I don't even know what the stated interval is for my wagon, but I had the differential done at 30K/5 years per guidance.

They aren't/weren't "sealed" but there's no dipstick. I spoke to a ZF tech at a BMW CCA tech event and he advised a 60k ATF change interval, I think Mercedes may still recommend an ATF change at around that interval.

Of the three Fords in the family only the 2010 Fusion has a transmission dipstick. The 2013 truck doesn’t which surprised me.

I used to follow a 50k mile rule for changing transmission fluid but since auto transmissions often seem to be the weak link in vehicle longevity I’ve shifted to a 30k mile interval. That may be excessive but it’s cheaper than a new transmission which on an older car can be more than the car is worth.

I think that automatic transmission longevity is largely dependent on the ATF as well as how well the ATF is cooled.

Nice day today, temp in the low 50s, but wind chill had an affect. Still, with the sun shining, I lowered the top on the M240 and went errand-running. Comfy with windows up and wind blocker deployed.
I wasn't the only one as I saw a couple pull into the grocery store in their (Fox?) Mustang convertible.

Deepest condolences, @Michaell. What a sweet, loving face.
All pet owners know the sadness that you're going through and dread the day to come.

Our Harry is also ~15.5 years old. Still demands 3-4 walks/day but is now a sprinter vs a marathoner. I will continue to believe that he will live forever.

Beautiful Carolina day. Did a lot of yard work. I even got a light sunburn. Washed the Arteon by hand. Cleaned the nooks and crannies. I will admit the wheels are a pain to clean but not near as hard as the BBS laced wheels on my 95 Jetta GLX VR-6. That was a fun car. Gratuitous pic.

Awww, @Michaell …. you just made me sad too. I’m sitting here with Lucy the cat curled up on my lap and I know I’ll be devastated when it is time for her to leave. You get so close to them. You’ll always have the memories of her time with you as some comfort. My condolences.

FWIW, I would bought that Honda off them if I’d known they were trading.

Granted...I'm a Honda/Acura fan boy, but CR-Vs are really nice all around vehicles. I've probably driven or ridden in every iteration of it over the years.

I also don't know that much about Subarus except my ex girlfriend had one and the drivetrain was pretty gruff.

So, with that (very) limited experience, I'd say it's a down grade.

On the subject of dogs, we have a new addition to our household, Isabella, she just turned 5 months old and we adopted her from the humane society when she was three months old.

So sorry to hear about dog losses. We nad a Daisy too, she was also a lab mix, and 15 when she passed. It was very hard. They take up a big space in our lives. We adopted this girl a few months later and have had her for 5 years now.

Looks very much like our boy, Kevin. Also an ASPCA rescue when a pup. Mostly lab but definitely pit terrier in him, too. He’s now about 5 yrs.

I cannot express how grateful I am to all of you for your thoughts about Daisy. We still have one doxie, Guster, who is 16.5 years old.

There has been some talk that my stepdaughter wants a rescue cat. May be a few months before it happens however.

It is such a huge hole in the home and heart when a dog leaves us. I always remember what my vet told me when our beloved lab, Alex, passed, "Know that you gave her the life that dogs dream of."

And @roadburner agreed about grieving dogs above some people!

That is a wonderful sentiment from your vet.

I'm going to call ours in the morning and let them know about Daisy. They have been taking care of her for the last 9+ years.

Hey TJC< question that I keep meaning to ask. Did they ever finish rebuilding the 295 flyover of 42 where the hillside collapsed at least 4 years ago? I think it was still in the evaluation phase when we left 3 years ago.

BTW...yesterday was "Puppy Day". Mine, a rescue about 3 years old and a mix of Dachshu

nd and King Charles (probably more, too according to the Vet). Pico...my constant companion at home.

They fixed the wall and started more and more of the supports but I don’t believe it’s anywhere near finished.

The only thing recently that they have done is you now can get to 42 south from 295 North and RT55 North. Lane splits at the end of 55 now … left to north(east) to Philly and then right to 42 south

Otherwise … I don’t think anything else has really been accomplished. Mid last year they had a crane the size of a sky scraper to move some panels into position but again nothing tangible.

I’ll try and grab some pics on my way home for you. In summary it’s still a mess

It’s completely out of control. What I feel terrible about are the poor people who live in Bellmawr that have their main road on the west side of town still cattle shoots with tall mesh blocking.
