Running an errand today, and I made a left turn with cars sitting from my left waiting for their red light to change. In front of me a 20-something ran across the road pumping his arms and shoulders, dodging cars. I thought "Gee Whiz" (not really what I thought).
Then I had a policeman run out in front of my car in the middle of the street with his gun (or taser) drawn. I slammed on the brakes at my already slow speed. He was chasing the kid with the big fro. Into a gas station. I went into the parking lot for the store next to the station. A Jeep of the old CJ7 appearance but much newer was moving around the station apparently trying to block the youth's path to slow him down. Squeaking tires as the Jeep driver moved around--was the Jeep driver an off duty policeman or other first responder, maybe? I didn't notice if he had ducks on his dashboard or not...
When I was done in the store, they were putting the youth into one of the 8 police cars there. The car he must have been driving had run up onto the curb at the light and apparently the policeman had been behind him. Car had Indiana fleet plates--a new-looking Jeep of a style like the Toyota Highlander.
Mine's showing 153 miles at a 29% tank level, which extrapolates to 525-ish for the full 16.5 gallon tank. Seems a decent bit optimistic, since that would mean almost 32 MPG on the EcoBoost.

gripe of the day. We finally got around to buying some solar pathway lights for along our sidewalk (which is pretty long since we have a side entry garage, and dark since we have no streetlights). Stopped at Lowes, and of course of the 5 versions they had, they only had 3 of the style we wanted so we bought them.
went on the app and found some at the next closest store (about 15 minutes away). So I ordered up 7 more for pickup last night and ran down at lunch to get them. Weird, in that instead of putting them in a box they just took the display (a flat box with holes that the stems stuck into) and used that to hand them to me. Looked like a giant birthday cake with really tall candles. But I put it in the car and took them home.
go to put them in the ground, and discover that 3 of the 7 were missing the bottom piece (the post that goes into the ground that was supposed to be inside the shaft of the light). so they are useless as is and now I need to run them back down. 1 maybe, but 3 of them? I would have noticed if I had taken them off the display to the register but I neglected to inspect them at pickup. Why they are all missing is a mystery. Probably someone had ones that broke so they bought new lamps, took the post out, and returned the rest of the unit and nobody at the store noticed.
more annoying is I bought extras so ended up only needing 8. 1 more than I have as usuable!
My experience with solar lights is that they are great when new but the rechargeable batteries they use typically start to crap out after a while and do not provide enough juice to last overnight, especially in winter. Not that you are typically coming and going at 4AM but when they go dark well before bedtime it is annoying. Maybe newer ones have overcome that, I dunno.

Maybe, even plumbing supply businesses!
I'm nowhere near Citi Field. My place is quite an eyesore. The building is over 100 years old. I also provide a valuable service to the community. My business earns my parents and I a steady stream of income. The building where we run our business out of is worth more than the business itself. If and when I decide to sell, I have to split it with my sister. Between that, the capital gains tax, Government fees, & real estate broker fees it wouldn't be enough for me to start working for a rental car company.

Similar things happen here all the time since we are an old city with areas full of old, run-down buildings with little architectural merit that are ripe for redevelopment, but which always attract protests from the usual groups. They never seem to mention how the owners of those dumps are paid handsomely in sums well above market value for those properties. Other businesses somehow always seem to satisfy the demand for those that go away.

Drama here in River City.
We had our own little drama at our headquarters this week. It seems a caravan of 6 drivers from a big city to the south which shall remain unnamed were delivering cars. For some reason they thought it would be a good idea to speed past the town police station one block away at 60 in a 30 with their radios blasting. As they tried to enter our gate they were swarmed by 8 police cars and ordered to get out of the cars. One guy made it through the gate and after screaming for the attendant to open up the cop chased the last racer through our parking lot. One social justice advocate started screaming police brutality which made the situation so much better.
In the end a slew of tickets were issued for all concerned.

I always think of the Enterprise chase car that was hit by a driver from the interstate at the stoplight in front of the Dayton airport terminal, where the side street goes to Enterprise. This has been a couple of years ago. Every time I go through there to FedEx's drop office. Sad.

Yeah, sad but they were doing something that made them feel productive in their later years. Those kind of things could happen in your own car any day of the week.

In our area south of Louisville we supposedly were hit by 80 mph winds. When the worst passed we took the Jeep out the driveway and encountered some larger branches on the ground- but we only found one tree down. Luckily my electric chainsaw made short work of it. We are very thankful because it could have been so much worse.

I didn't notice extremely bad wind and don't seem to have a lot of leaves and branches in my back yard (as is the norm with strong winds). Lots of thunder and lightning.
Very sad and scary. My daughter is visiting a friend in the Detroit area. Two nights ago the tornadoe sirens went off. They gathered the cat and hid in a closet. Thankfully, a non event. Our home office is in St Louis. Been there many times. It used to be A G Edwards. You can guess which company now, lol. Yesterday afternoon, on teams, several of my colleagues stated they were sheltered in their basements. I hope they’re ok.

I don’t know if this is normal, but I was on a conference call yesterday when the organizer commented to please excuse the noise, but the tornado siren was blaring. Ummm…
I asked if she needed to, I dunno, get to safety. Nope. She just ignored it. Sigh.

Here, they go off for the entire county if there is a warning covering even a tiny part of the county. If it doesn't seem to be storming badly when they go off, I check the local weather to figure out the reason and go from there. Have gone to the basement with the dog a few times. I don't if we're not near the path of the tornado or other concerning activity.
@graphicguy How are you feeling? Hope things went well and you’ll have dance shoes on soon.
Thanks.
I have good days and bad days.
They ended up repairing torn quad ligaments and replacing the hip at the same time. I think if I only had one of those done, I would have been better off. But, I'm not a surgeon.
Surgery was last Friday. They released me a week ago today. Hip feels weird, but that's normal....the old one didn't work and was made of bone. This one's titanium and probably way more rigid.
Quads have been an issue as they seem to tense up unexpectedly. They say it's normal.
Doing the exercise every day, which they say is key.
Oxy for pian, but boy do those make me wonky and foggy. How people get high off this junk is totally unreliable to me. I quit those on Tuesday. Tylenol is on the menu, now.
Son, Sister, heck even an old girlfriend has been swapping duty staying with me in case I fall. So, good support group. Go back Wednesday to see if everything's on track.
From the communications, surgeon says hopefully end of this week I'll be able to traverse to my 2nd floor bedroom. Surgeon says 3 months should be 80%. One year, all back to normal. Again, just a hip or abductor surgery by themselves would have yielded easier and quicker recovery.
But hey, I ain't got anything else better to do. Little PO'd that the summer is going to be relatively lost to me, though.
TIA seems to have been a blip, but no damage there that we know of.
@graphicguy, very good to hear you are making progress but not mentioning you don’t have plans to car shop tells me you need some more to time to mend. Probably next week for that. Keep up the good work and let us know how you’re doing.

Truck was pretty dirty on the outside after our trip to Wisco a couple of weekends ago, so I decide to go to the carwash. Have been to this one many times. Pay and drive into the touchless, everything proceeding as normal, when I start hearing a noise from outside the truck. Part way through the rinse and before the spot free application and drying blowers, everything stops. Thinking to myself, what going on? Will it start up again? A guy who works there comes by and said he shut off the bay due to the unusual noise he heard. He said you can either go to the do it yourself to finish it off or run through the regular bay(the one with the spinning things). I wanted to get the spot free and partial dry, so I said I'd go through the regular bay. Drive over there, the guy keeps trying to start it, which i finally does and he walks away. Part way through, it shuts down. Sign says if any problem, don't get out of your vehicle, and has a number to call. I waited a bit to see if it would restart because I didn't want to get out of the truck. Then I realized I forgot my phone, so I can't call for assistance. I waited a couple of more minutes, during which nothing happened, and decided I had to drive through. Put it in Drive and applied the least amount of throttle I could and eased my way out over the next couple of minutes. Didn't hear any bad noises on my way out, so I felt lucky to escape. When I got home, I hosed and wiped it all down. Probably won't going back there for a while.

I had the same thing happen last year. The guy let me go through the tandem bay and as an apology set it for the premium wash.

GG, I feel your pain and i hope you are feeling better soon. It reminds me of something that happened to me a few years ago. I had a lump on a toe near the joint It is caused by fluid in the joint leaking out) . I went to a foot doctor "Guy". He said he was retiring in a month so didn't want to do any cutting or surgery any more, but he said I had 3 options; 1) leave it and it will probably breakdown eventually, but it could come back. 2) He could lance it and get rid of it, but it could come back, or 3) Go to the hospital and it would get removed permanently. I chose 3, might as well get rid of it forever. The doctor at the hospital called after about a month and made an appointment for me in about 3 weeks time. I parked at the hospital, here you pay about $10 an hour, waited for over an hour, then was told to go to a room. The very pretty young lady doctor and her equally pretty assistant told me to lie down on the bed. Just then I had the presence of mind to ask, "Once you do this when can I return to playing tennis?" The young doctor said you'll have to wear a boot for 8 weeks, so no tennis! I said, I can't waste 8 weeks in the summer not playing tennis (or pickleball), can I cancel? She said, yes, of course you can. I walked out and I could hear them laughing as I walked down the hall. They probably thought I chickened out of having it done. Anyway, the bump disappeared shortly after and never came back.
My son and I enjoyed the racing at North Wilkesboro this weekend. The truck race was fun but the All Star races on Sunday were exceptional- the best short track racing I’ve seen in some time.

My Subaru dealer, which used to be a "family friendly" type of place, has been trying to rule the world. They have been buying up other dealerships and brands.
They are extremely aggressive with phone calls, texts, emails, and they try to trap you when you visit for service. They have one guy and all he does is look at service appointments and print out a vehicle similar to the one the person is bringing in for service and offer them a price on a new one.
I hope it's working for them because people I know who have, or have had, Subarus have some sordid tales.
A couple we know who sit in our section at baseball games are now driving a Honda. Evidently, they had their Outback in for state inspection, and it cost them around $2200. His wife was told, over the phone, that it needed 4 tires and I forget what else he said. The Outback had 15,000 miles on it.
A lady who helps out at our baseball league for disabled children was approached by the above guy when she was having her Forester serviced. He kept nagging her until she told him she didn't want her payment to increase. He finagled the numbers around until he hit her request. Then he said it was on a lease which she told him she specifically didn't want to do.
My daughter who just bought the Jeep GC said they called her 5 days in a row about something I forget. As you noticed she now has a Jeep - after having 3 Subarus before.
They have called me 3 times about making an appointment to have my wife's Forester inspected. I told them all 3 times that I was taking to somewhere else to have it inspected. The only things I have done there now are to get the free oils changes that were negotiated when we bought my Legacy and her Forester.
We have a few years to decide what we want to do when the time comes.

That sounds like a dealership on the brink of bankruptcy. Years ago we went to a Dodge dealership to inquire about a used truck we had seen on their lot. We were immediately barraged by multiple high pressure fast talking salespeople all trying to get us to buy something new right on the spot. Before we could even see the used truck one person was pulling up a base model short bed standard shift and asking us to sign right away. I told them I needed a long bed for the farm and my wife couldn’t drive stick and they immediately started trying to sell us on something else. At this point we were so freaked out we left having never even looked inside the used truck we wanted to buy.
About a year later the place closed.

@venture, if you like Subaru I’m sure you know you don’t have to buy local but more than likely you’ll still want to deal with your local Subaru dealers service dept. Since you’ve bought several Subies from the local dealer over the years, if you talk to the SM about your displeasure of how they are doing business now, I’m sure they’ll find a way not to lose both future sales AND service work. It’s worth a try.

Yeah. I get that, but not applicable here.
They were Subaru/Ford. Now they also have Nissan, GMC, a Chrysler-Dodge-Ram dealership, Mitsubishi as well as another Ford location. They are just aggressively irritating. It didn't used to be that way.

Drama here in River City.

went on the app and found some at the next closest store (about 15 minutes away).

Don't work for a rental car company, buy a rental car company! Think big, take chances. Trust me, I'm pre-law (or is it pre-med?)...

I always think of the Enterprise chase car that was hit by a driver from the interstate at the stoplight in front of the Dayton airport terminal, where the side street goes to Enterprise. This has been a couple of years ago. Every time I go through there to FedEx's drop office.
Sad.

Sad.
Yeah, sad but they were doing something that made them feel productive in their later years. Those kind of things could happen in your own car any day of the week.

Kia just sent this to me. Have to find a Tesla charger to see how it compares to the “super chargers”!
This used to be a post office on the south side of town. No one was in it or was harmed. Stormy night.

I don’t know if this is normal, but I was on a conference call yesterday when the organizer commented to please excuse the noise, but the tornado siren was blaring. Ummm…
I asked if she needed to, I dunno, get to safety. Nope. She just ignored it. Sigh.

Again, thanks for asking!
Now over 20.
I am knocking on wood. Those storms keep just barely missing me and hitting both north and south of where I am.
Saw one from J&S last night where a guy wanted to trade a Rolls with a bad carfax for 4 new mitsubishis.

GG, I feel your pain and i hope you are feeling better soon. It reminds me of something that happened to me a few years ago. I had a lump on a toe near the joint It is caused by fluid in the joint leaking out) . I went to a foot doctor "Guy".
He said he was retiring in a month so didn't want to do any cutting or surgery any more, but he said I had 3 options;
1) leave it and it will probably breakdown eventually, but it could come back.
2) He could lance it and get rid of it, but it could come back, or
3) Go to the hospital and it would get removed permanently.
