the town transfer station where I bring all my yard stuff also has a massive pile of mulch out front, free for the taking. Back your truck up and get as much as you can shovel in.
Is it pre-owned mulch dumped there by other homeowners trying to break free of the mulch MLM grift?
@xwesx - I'd have worked today if we had flex time (so I could take a day off later), but that decision would have been much easier if I had that view! My new gig is fully remote, so I don't have an office to commute to anymore. I only went in one day a week at the old place.

When my Dad thought me to drive he was adamant about staying out of the left lane except to pass. His words were, “just remember when you’re in the left lane, you’re only borrowing it to pass slow moving vehicles. Get back into the right lane as soon as you can”.
Being the good son that I was, I listened and passed that onto my sons. In today’s lingo, that’s called paying it forward.

Ford issued a new recall of 1.1 million vehicles due to rear view camera software issues. The recall includes the following cars:
Lincoln Nautilus and Mach-E models released between 2021 and 2023. Bronco, F-150 and Edge models released between 2021 and 2024. Escape, Corsair, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 and F-600 models released across 2023 and 2024. Expedition and Navigator models released between 2022 and 2024. Transit models released between 2021 and 2025. Ranger and Mustang models released in 2024.
The report I saw said software would be updated online. That would be good--no going into the dealer for the fix?
If it could all be handled just with an OTA software update I doubt they would announce an official recall.
This is what I saw.
"Dealers are expected to update vehicle software through an over-the-air update. The software being recalled serves as an operating system for the car's dashboard, helping its infotainment system to control apps and display maps, among others."

And the way I read that is that only the dealers are able to apply the OTA update, so you need to bring it to them. That is different from what I am familiar with with my car, where they just happen unannounced from time to time.
I’m considering a new career too, as a couch potato

Growing up in CT and spending many a moment on the Merritt Parkway, the sign "Keep right. Except to pass" remains ingrained in my mind's eye.

^^^ I thought of this conversation a little while ago when I was going to a local home center to pick up a few sacks of mulch. A 4-lane local road with a 50mph limit where speeds are usually 60. Where it first began there was some slow traffic in the right lane so I joined a long line of vehicles in the left lane. Shortly thereafter I noticed it wasn't moving very well either and the right lane was completely empty so I jogged over there and passed at least a dozen cars, not even going particularly fast myself. When I got past the last one in the left lane, a white Dodge minivan, I noticed he finally moved right. What he was thinking I do not know.
I call those kind of situations in traffic a "slugfest", because the road slugs are everywhere.
last year end (the downside to being in an implementation role involving medical plans so open enrollment season) just about killed me off. One more like that and I probably won't make another final one next year. Not bad now in the slow period, so I am taking advantage to rest up a bit. Then will be at the mercy of how good a season the salespeople have (they had a really good one last year!)

Somehow the Maverick escaped it.
I still have that recall on my Mustang from 2015. Mine requires replacing the wiring harness to the backup camera. My dealer told me years ago “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. I’m surprised they’re still having the problem but now it’s software not wiring.

Over time probably most of them when they are in the dealer for other service. Only rush jobs are the ones that actually glitch out.
When we brought my son’s 2010 Fusion into the dealer for an unrelated repair they replaced the Takata airbags free of charge. We didn’t even know there was an unfixed recall on it.

First I got to drive a 2023 Chevy Bolt EV to another state (about 150 miles) with about 18k miles. I was honestly impressed. It was comfortable, not a lot of road noise and had enough torque to break the front end loose merging onto the freeway. Started out with 192 mile range and finished with 83 so not too bad. It was the perfect conditions for EV range, no heat, no AC, no headlights, so minimal drain. The interior was typical cheap plastic but the cloth seats were comfortable.
In the afternoon I took a similar ride in a 2025 Genesis G70 also with 18k miles. Very nice interior even though you had to pretty much fall into the seat (my Mustang is easier to get in). Nice comfortable ride for a sports sedan but the steering seem overly sensitive to inputs. Two things I didn’t like were the lane management system (kept tugging at the wheel) and the radio touch screen which I finally gave up trying to tune and used the voice control. I actually preferred the Chevy’s standard GM intuitive tuning controls. The interior was noticeably better than average with leather and stitching to accent everything.

Thanks for the quick review. My BIL has been thinking about a new car, and the G70 is a possibility. Do you know which engine your car had?

If I could no longer work from home that would be the push needed to stop working at all (or go drive rental cars with the rest of the old geezers).
Especially since my real job office is in Dallas and we are not living down there. Also zero chance I wade back into the corporate job search pool.
