First I got to drive a 2023 Chevy Bolt EV to another state (about 150 miles) with about 18k miles. I was honestly impressed. It was comfortable, not a lot of road noise and had enough torque to break the front end loose merging onto the freeway. Started out with 192 mile range and finished with 83 so not too bad. Two things I didn’t like were the lane management system (kept tugging at the wheel) and the radio touch screen which I finally gave up trying to tune and used the voice control. I actually preferred the Chevy’s standard GM intuitive tuning controls. The interior was noticeably better than average with leather and stitching to accent everything.

Thanks for the quick review. My BIL has been thinking about a new car, and the G70 is a possibility. Do you know which engine your car had?

I was wondering myself. Since I was delivering it to a dealer I didn’t think they would want me popping the hood and fooling around with their new purchase. It was AWD if that tells you anything. It was plenty fast regardless of the engine. Just a guess but I’d say it had the 2.5L.

We just returned from a week in Port St Joe, FL. It was nice to get away and break from the daily routine. Still a lot of damage visible fron hurricane Michael in 2018, but a lot of new construction and looking good. We ran through horrible weather coming and going. The Arteon is a good long distance traveler and returned good mpg.

I guess because of Memorial Day, it was fairly crowded. It was common to have a 30 minute or longer wait at restaurants. I’m not much on seafood, to the chagrin of my parents and wife. I’m from St Pete and spent my teenage years in New Orleans. I do like shrimp. My wife said the seafood she ate there was delicious.

got rained in today (pouring all day so we never left the house) so finally got ambitious and went to finish some more organizing in the basement (way overdue). I had put together another shelf months ago that was sitting empty to I consolidated my excess audio equipment and put it on the shelf with a little room to spare. I should have gone through it all and separated some to get rid of, but was not ready for that today! At least now it is all together and easy to work with in the future. and the TV rec area is no longer full of boxes. I do have way too much equipment. Maybe I should set up a system in the garage. Wife was not interested in having one in the family room or the bedroom since we likely won't use either one.

getting pretty close to having it all put together down there. Unfortunately the rest is stuff the wife considers hers so the rest of the boxes are not going anywhere anytime soon.

Very impressive, especially given your C43’s performance chops and your heavy right foot. On that note, the C43 ‘s design is very subtle and sleeper-ish with no giant intakes or fender flares. Otter than the bi-turbo badges on the side and the quad exhaust in the back, it’s very much a sleeper.

As I'm follicly challenged, if not wearing a hat, I sunscreen the golden dome, the sunscreen is anathema to the (I'll guess) Sensatec? The seats are leather, not sure if the headrests are. So, I've thrown Patriots headrest covers on them, the black looks good against the Oyster interior. Not to mention total class.

That sounds like classLESS to me. You gotta have that returned to OEM condition when you get back from Vegas. That should give you something to look forward to when you return.

Have a good time while at Vegas and maybe you can make some money to pay for the new head test covering, cause you’re gonna need it.

The driver of the B7 was pretty slick. We both filtered through slower traffic without haphazardly jumping from lane to lane. I was finally caught up in a group of Anti-Destination League members and by the time I escaped the B7 was long gone.

Most of my quicker cars have been sleepers; even my Mazdaspeed 3 flew under the radar (except among the import/JDM community).

Now that is a beautiful interior. Most of the cars I drive are as attractive as the inside of a phone booth (does that date me?). I know on a Mercedes you pay for the privilege but it must be nice to sit down into such an attractive setting.

The second part of my washer saga: I may have joined a cult, but at least I can wash blankets and mattress pads again. The Speed Queen has a smaller tub and doesn’t seem to get out of balance, which is great. I also kept the LG HE top loader I bought a few months ago, since it works well for smaller items, and I have them both hooked up now, so I can actually run them both at the same time. Having a single dryer is obviously a bottleneck, but I don’t plan to add another.

We had two sets of washer/dryers in our old house. Game changer for getting the laundry out the way.

I ordered a set of Michelins at Discount Tire for the Arteon. I am getting a pronounced vibration from about 40 mph up from the original Continentals. When I test drove the car I told the salesperson the tires needed balancing and he agreed. The dealer balanced them and it was improved, but not perfect. As the car had 26k, I think the previous owner did not have them maintained as they needed. Doubt it is the car or tire’s fault. The vibration has become progressively worse. I examined the tires and don’t see anything obvious. Tread depth measured 4mm on the front tires. I do not think it makes sense to waste money on rebalancing. New tires it is. I noticed on Tire Rack, the 245/40/19 tires it requires jumped in price by $30-50. Discount Tire for the same tires I selected had not yet reflected that increase. I pounced. The Arteon will have about 36k at replacement on June 9.

Sometimes it's just better to just replace the tires.
Hated the OEM tire on our 04 Escape. Replaced then with soem Foodyear TripleTreads which were great.
When the GY's wore out after 60K, we replaced them with the same tires.

I don't like messing around with sketchy tires. They are way too important to cut corners.

also a good thing about putting on low miles. I am unlikely to change tires more than once in the life of a car so changing them a few thousand miles early isn't going to make any LT difference.

I'm happy to get 24k miles out of the Contis on the C43. It's alignment specs are pretty extreme for a street car.

I have found the prices on Tire Rack and Discount Tire are often similar, and this is even before DT bought TR. I wonder if the current significant price difference is tarrif related. TR was out of stock on the OEM Continentals and are priced considerably higher than the Michelins I selected at DT.

Over in various Mazda CX-90 forums/groups, on top of all the other problems owners of those had to deal with, the OE Falken tires are only lasting 12K miles before becoming completely worn out. Some dealers are comping or helping out on a replacement set while others feign ignorance. Big, heavy vehicle and low-bid crappy tires make for an unpleasant surprise.

Seems to me that TireRack isn't quite the bargain they were, before Discount bought them.

There will be anomalies between the two, but pretty much comparable pricing

12K would be what I would expect out of a high powered AMG or M car, not a Mazda SUV.

We were talking about garage fridges not long ago. I had some Best Buy credits and coupons so I jumped in to replace ours with one that is actually designed for the garage. 22 cu ft GE stainless. Was something like $1100-$1200 originally but I paid $640 out of pocket. Not bad. Worthwhile to avoid the defrosting and freezing problems we kept having, and it is more spacious than the previous. Oh, and the power company giving me $100 for the old one, so that knocks me down to $540’ish.

A sidestep from the tire subject: I’d love to find different wheels for the Alfa. I really really want the Alfa cloverleaf or even phone dial wheels. No luck so far. The bolt pattern is quite odd. They did make them for the 156 but obviously getting them here would be quite the costly feat.

That's interesting about the bottleneck note. We have a front-loading HE washer, and it takes about twice as long to wash a load it does to dry. So, a 2-to-1 ratio would be a perfect set up for us!

@qbrozen They are all nice wheels - the first example definitely the snazziest, but I also do not think the current set detracts from the car in any way. I wouldn't trade them for the set below it, but perhaps the first or last option, for sure!
