My parents have aggregate and use a tinted sealer. It is as slick as snot immediately after the sealer is applied, but is usually fine after a couple of weeks. If you overapply, it's slick for months on end.

Mine is about 200 feet of gravel. No sealing required although occasional weed treatment needed to keep it looking good. I can’t imagine what it would cost to pave it.

Have the asphalt re-coated every couple of years, just wish we had done the pavers when our neighbors all did. Just didn't want to spend $3300 at the time and deal with all the dust/mess it would've caused inside. Looking back, should have done it actually to give the house a nicer look.

Our middle child became a pharmacist and seems to love it. They make pretty decent money but it isn't cheap to get one's degree. We had plenty to cover her undergraduate degree but the price of pharmacy school was way beyond our means and using our retirement to pay for it wasn't an option. So she took out student loans and working at a non profit hospital where after working for any of them for ten years, they will forgive whatever debt remains at that point. So, she's a couple of years out from that point, a good thing.

What did I say? I had different predictions depending on the day. :)

Once, when I saw Kelce Swift at a Cleveland game, I thought that meant Cleveland would advance so the station could show them all the time.

But then I saw a TV ad for “post-season baseball” that showed highlights for only the Yanks and Dodgers, so I told my son and FIL the script has been written by the network and they let it slip with that commercial.

Of course, BEFORE even the wild card, I had hoped the Brewers would beat the Mets so the Phils would have a clear path to the WS. I thought Philly/Cleveland was a good bet. Once it became NYM/Philly, I was nervous.

We are very torn who to root for. I'm usually against NY no matter what. I was definitely rooting for LA over NYM. However, now faced with NYY vs LA, I don't know how to feel. I guess, ultimately, I don't care who wins. But the way LA is cheating the payroll system really irks me. And their fans (some) have shown how awful they can be. But does this make me hate them more than NY? I'm not sure.

Newer scam is to offer to detail your car. The FB account usually is blank other than membership in the neighbor or city user group membership. Doing an internet search using a chunk of the text they posted shows same text being used elsewhere on other neighborhood groups in distant cities.
I googled the picture they had in their ad of a Mercedes and it's from an ad for a Mercedes that was copied by a Wisconsin company doing detailing which claimed an LLC in its ad.
I wonder if they want payment up front, get the card or checking account and run with it?

A guy in my Lions club had a large paving company, paving, repair, sealing. He would also sell sealer to small companies in a really concentrated form that a specific amount of water was to be added.
He said that when he sold to little guys with a pickup, the meter on the water dispenser would often indicated three or four times what should have been added to the amount of sealer they bought.

No, but I'm considering an inexpensive gas power washer, doesn't have to be higher pressure. I
threw away the 1600 psi small model I bought just to clean the wood deck 5 years ago.

And I'm trying out replacement headlight halogen capsule bulbs for my Cruze. My 10-year old low beam filaments have weakened. But do I want to go up 1 step in the "higher light output" bulbs? It's my understanding from reading between the lines that the sylvania and other brands with the higher temperature output bulbs really don't produce more lumens, just a color shift and uncontrolled light scatter to blind oncoming motorists.

I told my wife we could just trade the car for one with LED headlamps that blind oncoming motorists with a controlled light beam, LOL.

Yeah, I moved to Denver the summer of their first season. Actually caught a game at the old Mile High Stadium, before Coors Field was built.

Hard to believe that that ballpark is now the third oldest park in the NL - behind only Wrigley Field and Dodger stadium.

100% The Amazin's, had season tix (shared amongst 8 of us); grew up a Mets fan. As my father before me (another broken-hearted Brooklyn Dodgers fan); I worshipped at the altar of Tom Seaver.

That fall began the wonderful world of our Ski House in the Okemo/Killington area, a mix of CT (actually, just me. My CT friend paid for a share and never actually showed up!) and MA folks. I arrived in my Mets hat, instantly made friends...not.

And then I met a girl from Boston... Which is the phrase that basically begins the downfall/stupid decisions of most men.

Moved to Boston, Sox were Mets-like as "lovable losers" so I adopted them as my AL team.
Who knew what was to come here in Championshiptown! Well, if we ignore the latter day Sox and Pats...

If I actually wanted to get my driveway sealed I would look up a real company that has been in business for a few years, I'd check the reviews, I'd ask around. But, I would never use a guy working from a pickup truck that I will never be able to find again if something goes wrong.

We are "do not solicit" on the city's list. You should see the look on the young solicitors who have been sent to go door-to-door when I tell them we're to call the police when someone violates the list. They can download the list from the internet so they don't bother those of us who are crabby about those things.

I like that idea. The kids have one at their house. I just hate to have something wired up to my internet. I don't let my washer talk to the internet. I don't let my dryer talk to the internet. I don't let my garage door talk to the internet.

Our girls had a Ring device installed at our house though I never wanted it. Noticed on Thursday afternoon, some girl was at the door and the doorbell rang. Used my phone to see who it was, but decided not to talk to her. Guess my wife on the train to D.C. saw it to, and starts talking to her for like 5 minutes. I hate that stuff and usually pretend I'm not home. Like that when our home phone rings. I don't answer it because we don't regularly use it. But my wife answers it and starts a conversation with the caller selling her something. She plays along until they realize the call is going nowhere and hang up. Just drives me nuts when she does this! But, it's nice to see who is at the door for safety reasons.

In 1970 I attended my first MLB game at Jarry Park in Montreal, Giants vs Expos. Some yahoo out in the bleachers threw a pop bottle into CF in the general direction of the great Willie Mays, though I couldn’t tell if it was actually thrown at him. Willie handled it with grace, picking it up, pretending to take a drink, then handing it off to a ballboy. Even then I couldn’t believe anyone would be so clueless as to do that with Willie.

Had a nibble on my Accord over the weekend.

I told her to forego any "back and forth" I'd give her the bottom number up front......$33,200. She came by last night and gave me a $1.000 deposit. Supposed to come back with the rest as a cashier's check this afternoon.

Nice that it was an easy smooth sale and nice of you to give these decent people a price break for being good to deal with. I like it when it goes that well, they got the car they wanted at a fair price, you made the sale and got a satisfactory amount....it is a win/win and everyone is happy.
Now for that other dope........if he ever really wanted the car he lost out because he was being a moron.

A friend of my sister is looking for a nice car. My sister steered her my way.

Nice weekend to kick tires. Given my sister knows her, I gave her my address and she came by to take a look. She and her husband showed up. Nice couple...him in his 50s, her in her 40s, I'm guessing. She seemed to really liked the Accord! Drove it, liked it even more. She kept asking her husband what he thought. He said he liked it, but it would be her car.

Would you have taken a cashier’s check from the previous grinder or just from someone known to you?

I had to look it up to see if this is OSHA compliant.

Yep. Plastic cone and caution tape when working on a roof.

Good question. He irritated me so much, I probably wouldn't have accepted it. I just got the sneaky suspicion that even if he wasn't a "scammer" that he would have had some sort of complaint even after the transaction was complete. And, he would have bugged me about whatever it was he didn't like for a good long while.

Buyer met me at my bank and dropped off the cashier's check a little while ago. Signed over the title. All's good. Went to the BMV. Tried to give them my old tags. They said they couldn't take them (huh?). I asked why they wanted me to do with them. They didn't seem to care. I guess since they are no longer tied to any car, I can throw them out. But, they still have a current sticker on them. Someone could theoretically dig them out of the trash and put them on their car.

    Anyway..... She's happy. I'm happy.

Great car. Couldn't literally be told from new. She'll have a comfy, reliable, great MPG, good handling car with all the "gee-gaws" for many years to come.

At least you don't have to take it in for the recalls now.
