I think most potential Charger buyers are holding out for the I6 or the rumored return of the V8.

I've probably told this one before, but when I was in undergrad, I started an IT consulting business, and for a while toyed with the idea of trading my very nice Jetta VR6 for a Honda Odyssey because it was a big pain to haul a ladder, tools, and boxes of equipment in the Jetta. I'm glad I didn't, but the Jetta did have to go a couple years later because of reliability issues.

@explorerx4 - in my case, full-service installation and maintenance of computers, networks, and other devices. I was up in attics (or moving ceiling tiles) stringing Cat5 cable way more than I wanted to be. Also, I usually had new stuff shipped to my house so I could do 90% of the installing software updates and other configuration done beforehand so that the only real disruption to someone's business was my dropping off the new equipment and plugging it in.

we had 3. got the first one when our 2nd kid was born (my wife always packs heavy). Kept the 3rd until our daughter (the baby) was getting her license and our son was a senior in college. The wife was the one that wanted to get a CUV for a change (and something smaller). I never minded the van. it was really handy for carrying big stuff, and drove just fine, and never embarrassed me to be seen driving it!

I’m going to ask a question of you guys where there is really no correct answer. My sister has a 2022 GLC 300 lease maturing at the end of May. She’s a widow for 8 years as of yesterday. Lives with my parents and her 2 daughters (13 & 15). She has a judgement against her credit which is a crazy story that ended up with her accidentally putting the incorrect date in her phone and not showing up to court. She has a steady job. Her credit is shot. Her only monthly payment is her car and insurance which she can afford. Problem is that she has no money to put down and because of her credit score won’t qualify for a lease. I’ve been nudging her toward buying something used and financing it.

That’s a rough go and I’m so sorry she is and has had to go through that. Not sure what the question is though? How shot is shot? If she’s in the 600s she should be able to get financed.

There is a chance if she’s had no bad issues with car payments that MB would allow her to take another lease with a hefty down payment. Maybe.

Could try somewhere like Carmax but I’d expect the rate will be brutal and again, they’d want some money down.

@nyccarguy - if she has very poor credit, she's kind of at the mercy of the dealers in terms of getting financed (and they're definitely going to mark up the interest rate). Maybe try Nissan or Mitsubishi. Long term, she could also work with a credit union to try to reestablish her credit.

As far as the judgment goes, if it was a default judgment for failing to attend a hearing, or if she wasn't properly served, it might be worth retaining an attorney to try to get it set aside. Can't speak to other states, but in my state, there's a fairly strong preference that court judgments be made on the merits of the matter and not on a technicality.

Most lease programs have money factors that increase based on the credit score. But, the increases are pretty steep.

As an example, I happened to have the VW doc open at the moment. The standard MF for tiers 1 & 2 (700 score and up) is .00333.

    Tier 3 is .00373
    Tier 4 is .00413
    Tier 5 is .00453
    Tier 6 is .00513
    Tier 7 is .00648
Tier 8 is .00738 (credit score of 599 or lower)

Same bumps are true for supported lease rates, as well.

Each make has a different structure. She should be able to get approved for a lease, but she will likely have to adjust her budget accordingly to account for the MF hike, to get a payment she's comfortable with.

Is there any possibility of a family member fronting her a down payment for whatever vehicle she obtains? A GI (generous in-law) loan saved me once or twice. I think a used car is definitely the way to go. Something reliable like a Camry would be a logical choice. If she has a job and few expenses she could pay down any high interest loans fast and then reimburse family.

You or a parent could co-sign. Honestly, I’d say a cheap lease is better for someone in her situation. Repair bills and rentals (while only car is in the shop) is an unknown that could make things a whole lot worse.

Sooo... Hornet R/T Plus. Am I right that I could be looking at $4k one-pay for 24/10k?

Can't find a whole lot of April info, but I see someone said they got more than 20% off before incentives in MD. Their incentives are more than I think I can get, though. But here is my breakdown:

    $51k MSRP
    $40,800 sale price
    63% RV
    .00001 MF (after one-pay discount)
$7000 incentives (6500 fed and 500 power days bonus)
    6.625% tax
    595 acq
    699 doc fee (guesstimate)
400 DMV (should be about right for 2 years)

    $4041 total DAS, $0 payments.

    Total Cash of $7000 includes:
$500 2024 DODGE National Performance Days Bonus Cash exp. 04/30/2025
$6500 2024 Stellantis Financial Services EV Incentive

Maybe I should get one. I don’t need one of course. Maybe the wife will like it?

Can make up for the absurd amount of money I lost so far today thanks to somebody causing a stock market crash. Should have sold everything and invested in coffee cans for the back yard.

Yeah, I guess I picked the wrong administration under which to retire.
Actually, kinda bummed I'm losing the ongoing dollar cost averaging (paycheck) I've enjoyed the past 40 years-ish.
Oh, well. At least I have less money to spend on soon-to-be more expensive cars.
Bought my new iPhone at the right time apparently.

New Conti DWS06+ seem quite quiet, so far suiting the A7 well. But need a road trip.

I’m so twisted up with my shopping. Wife kind of got in a huff when I said I was considering a 15-20-year-old Nissan. She can’t comprehend how that might be more reliable than an 8-yr-old luxo car.
Anyway, I kind of wound up back at the F-pace again.
But it makes my stomach turn to consider spending $15k when I could spend $7k. Am I crazy? I do admit the Fpace would most likely mean getting rid of the GMC and the QP. Because, why would I need/want the QP if I have a Jag that is equally quick and comfortable and (hopefully) less problematic? So, what is my problem? Why am I concerned?

Should I go for a Hornet? Not sure what the heck that does for me, frankly, other than being cheap. But then I have nothing after 2 yrs.
