That is absolutely true! For me, it isn't so much how far off the ground it sits, but all of those things you mentioned. I know I said it before, but my brother's Camaro is such a challenge for me to access.

Yes. It was ordered and specced by their founder.
He recently retired and has been thinning his herd. Sold his McLaren earlier in the week.

I kinda did know, actually. Most of the bidders in the final 10 minutes were dealers, so I knew I could take them out. But I expected to see reserve not met when it ended.

This car actually showed up in one of my feeds when the auction posted a week ago. I had been looking for something like this for awhile and got to know the market well (@28firefighter was probably tired of hearing about it). I’m quite familiar with the seller as I’ve met a number of people over there and had just been there 2 days before. So I reached out and arranged a showing that afternoon. Immaculate as you’d expect. Thanked them and told them we’d chat Friday morning, the close date. Once the auction was over, I texted their sales manager and said I’m your winner. He didn’t know my BaT name and laughed when he put it together.

I picked it up that afternoon.

Don’t know. I haven’t seen it there, but there are a number of Golfs in the building. He was actually there when I picked up the car. Said he was worried because his dad is selling the faster ones first

Porsches are lovely cars. But they seem to come with a bug that infects the owner into spending vast sums on the vehicle beyond the purchase price. See an example here, where Harry Metcalfe seems close to having a full cashectomy performed on himself to serve the Porsche bug.

Depending on timing, I may be able to drive it a lot closer for you. Depending on fuel prices, I'd estimate it might cost $500. We'll be driving down from Alaska on or about 8/1 again, and I'm expecting to go through the PNW to visit my family on the way down.

Speaking of the Montero, anyone want to guess what the market is for one on BaT? Here’s all of the 3rd gens they’ve had. I added the mileage on each-


It’s all over the place. Mine is now under 38k miles, and I did a bunch to it, including timing belt and water pump, new tires, CarPlay etc. Still…

Looks like a bargain.. My friend bought a Land Cruiser a couple years ago with 160K+ miles and it was $18K (in your neck of the woods, too)

BTW…in a Ram Rebel rental this week. Love, love, love the Hurricane 6. Smooth, quiet and quick!

Interior is very comfortable but skewed more sporty-ish and less high end than the other trims.

Ride is great, like old school Cadillac great. I definitely see the appeal.

that sounds like a lot for an old truck from an off-brand manufacturer that could disappear at any time. At least to me, with my stuck in the past perspective on what used cars should cost!

I look at it from the perspective that it’s got low miles and will appeal to a demographic who wants a cut rate Land Cruiser.

Back in 1994 my wife and I really wanted a Montero SR- but every Mitsubishi dealer we dealt with wanted to play stupid games. We ended up with a 1993 Pathfinder SE; it served us well for 8 years.
