Right now all the RAV4s are Japanese-built. That will be changing soon, as they need the production capacity in Japan to serve other markets.

Well, you won't hear much about that here as those are JDM cars and a few foreign export models. If that were 470,000 Camries, it would be BIG NEWS indeed.

    Bounce back you say?

How does losing Jim Press to Chrysler help Toyota and after 37 years at that?

How does losing Jim Farley to Ford help Toyota?

Toyota lost their heir apparent Farley and it will be difficult to replace him. Not to mention Press who brought Toyota to its no. 1 position.

Looks like Rocky landed a mean one two combo and Toyota will be reeling for awhile from this.

had a headline this week, that the Toyota brand has passed the Chevy brand in North American sales. Is that right? As those GM fleet sales continue to fall, the picture of retail sales becomes clearer and clearer.

Toyota was up for the month because Chevy's truck and SUV-heavy sales numbers took a dive, though I think the bowtie is still up modestly over the Yote for the year.

those guys who left Toyota for Ford and GM won't be making big bucks on their stock options anytime soon.

I'm sure they got a nice pay package - GM and Ford will pay the mucky mucks big bucks even while closing plants.

as Toyota passes up GM in sales and fresh off a $35B (yes Billion) loss, GM decides to give the boss a raise back to his previous level.

Now I'm sure some will say you have to pay big bucks to retain the best and the brightest....is this the best they can do?

This is soooo wrong. It's pretty much how the landscape of American economics has been going. Big pay days and back dated stock optionss for anyone who can climb their way to the top of the pyramid.

And not just a $35B loss, but also market share that continues to slide. They talk confidently at GM that they can stabilize at the 24% or so they are at now, but I think it will be down to 20% before it truly stabilizes. And maybe not even then? Who knows.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like a moment when they should be giving the top execs big raises or bonuses.
