Well, we had the ultrasound and the technician confirmed that we're having a girl!
It's funny how our friends and family were all trying to "guess" based on gut instinct, old wives' tales and their own experiences. Hearing the "see, I knew it" and "I was sure it was a boy" made me chuckle.
Thanks for the warm wishes, everyone!
Now if could top of this coming year with a brand new Subie, that would be sweet. ;-)
Hmmm... Maybe we can have a Subaru Crew: "Name Ken's Baby" contest!? Remember all the names we came up with for the Baja, before that name was announced? Several hundred, as I recall.
Hmmm... Baja? Baja Suzuki? It has a nice ring to it...
Not a happy camper tonight went to the Titan this afternoon to find somebody had tried to rip off my Gt rims, they were unsuccessful as I had wheel locks on although one of them is ripped up where they tried vice grips.
They then tried to get the hood open, the method of attempted entry was to to cut the whole centre out of the grill to get at the hood latch, they must have been pretty cagey because they did not trip my alarm.
They have been disturbed or gave up because they were not successful, anyway I am going to be out some bucks, don't want to put it through insurance.
Congrats on the daughter, only thing is at about 14 the sleepless nights begin, you will vet every boy because none of them will be good enough for your little girl, been there done that.
Sorry to hear that, Pat. Vandalism stinks. About 10 years ago now I went to leave my girlfriend's house and found my Jetta up on blocks, 2 of its 4 OEM alloys and tires stolen and the other two with all lugs off. Someone must have caught them in the act. At least I ended up marrying my girlfriend, and she moved from that neighborhood.
Logged in & hit MTM just now, and the page appearance was much different... graphics, fonts and layouts were obviously different. Instead of "scroll forward 20 messages" option at the bottom of the page, I had "page 623, 624, last page" choices... but now, it's back to normal...
The hardest thing is not to get bitter about bothering to have a nice car, because if you change your behaviors and give up the things you like then they've really won.
Of course at times thieves can do so much financial damage that you can't risk it again...
This would reduce costs on producing a new tranny. GM Trannies are good stuff especially the ones from france. And it can work with AWD since the BMWs are using it for their AWD 3 series.
Congratulations! You will need the turbo Forester to run between soccer games in a few years. I have 3 girls, one named Kaitlyn (You even spelled it correctly Karen). Kaitlyn is 11 and am already getting boy nervous. We have a saying - if a boy comes to the door he winds up taking a trip to the lake in the trunk (wagon?). If he is a nice boy we take the long way. A bad boy, he doesn't make it to the lake.
Juice - I'm refinancing also. 5.875%, 0 points. If all works out this will allow for new siding and windows.
One of my Japanese daughters (the one coming to visit next week from Nagoya), is Kanako. We used to call her 'K-Kid' when she was younger! She is an assistant to a patent attorney doing advanced automotive patent filings for Toyota now.
LOL! Hanako is actually a legit Japanese name (good guess), but the combination Hanako Suzuki would generate some chuckles in Japan. There, whenever you have a sample form filled out, the person's name is either 'Taro Suzuki' or 'Hanako Suzuki' -- kind of like John or Jane Doe in the US.
Thanks for the kind wishs, yeah its a bummer but could have been worse I guess, at least they did not give it a key job.
Bit, I ordered the 2003 grill, but I did spend the day attempting to make my own grill,I cut the centre out completely just leaving the outer ring, got some 1/4 square wire fencing and then made a form from wood, quite a challenge as the grill is compound angles, then formed the wire centre over it.
When I had the wire part made I epoxied it into the grill surround, I am not finished it yet but it is actually looking not too bad, will try to get a couple of photos of the finished result.
Go SENS go, what about Marion Hossa this year? He is so hot he is in danger of burning up, this is definitely his break out year, he is now showcasing all the talent he showed as a junior.
I take one day off to spend with my daughter at school, and school closes! And I miss all the excitement.
Definitely I'd go with Kanako the Sekond Suzuki for the name. And by the way it's a "K" anywhere in the name, not just names beginning with K. Why do you think they hired Makinen? ;-)
Congrats, bud. Daughters are great, very close to their dads. You'll be the one she'll look up to.
Bob: active lifestyle, LOL!
Pat: heard about the car during the chat. That just plain stinks. Lucky got hit slightly in the pre-school parking lot on Tuesday, just a minor scratch on the bumper, but the lady in the van that hit us didn't even stop! What's this world coming to? Our daughter was in the car, too. We got the plates and will pursue it.
GM tranny? Guess that'd be OK, and yeah, better than OnStar. Looks like it's set to work with a longitudinal engine, given it's used in a Bimmer.
Ed: great find. I'd put it in a case of some sort, then hang it over our Bar. :-)
Well Ken got there first, but I was going to say that I for one didn't think "Ken" was short for "Kenneth." :-)
Pat- that truly sux. Sorry to hear about that. I try not to go crazy with the little dings city living brings, I can't imagine how all that would make me feel.
On a side note, I made a tentative venture into a political discussion on NASIOC OT....what a mistake. I got flamed by some psycho named Outraged or something. Just reminded me how civil and reasonable we all are on Town Hall, regardless of party. So, Thanks to all for keeping this such an accepting and mature place.
My commute home took a little longer than expected and I couldn't get back into chat after I got home.
Ding, ding! 50 points to Loosh -- my full first name is Kentaro. My folks were strategic with their choice -- not only is it a traditional Japanese name, but it works well in the US when shortened.
Well, Kanako is my wife's first name so I think we'll go with something else. :-)
Dave -- there are quite a few Japanese names that starts with "e". Some off the top of my head: Eiji (M) Eriko (F) Erika (F) Eiko (F)

We're expecting #2 sometime early June. Ultrasound later this month I believe.
-Brian
Must have something to do with the "Active Lifestyle" Subaru keeps promoting...
Bob
Mark
It's going to be very interesting explaining to your wives why every name you suggest has a k. Assuming you follow Brian's thinking.

I'm going to have to get a comfortable chair and a big ol' baseball bat to sit out on the porch and keep the boys away. ;-)
Ed -- 5/13 is the current due date.

Weird science...

why whomever is developing it would test on the only owner community on the site, is beyond me. we're gonna notice, and gonna say something.

I've been there. It sucks.

This was the type of stuff that I thought Subaru would do with this GM relationship. Not the OnStar stuff.

Getting the baby name ball rolling..
KACY
KAILEY

That stinks. Hope it's not too much of a major cash outlay. Bad time of year
-Dave [thinking of girl's name to rhyme with Suzuki].
Juice - I'm refinancing also. 5.875%, 0 points. If all works out this will allow for new siding and windows.

Girls are sweet. Tanya is almost 15 now but she's a total computer geek, no boys in her life yet -- and I'm not complaining!
Dave -- We are thinking of a traditional Japanese name, but we're still undecided.
Karen -- Ironically, my wife's name also starts with a K -- Kanako.
Kate -- Thanks for the offer!
Ken
A ruling please, juice?
Jim
Not that I know what it means, how 'bout Hanako?
-Dave
Bummer Pat. But hey, now you can do a custom grill.

I have not come across a Japanese name that has an "e". At least as the first vowel.
