With the new registration and all, there are kinks we didn't even know about that needed ironing. I "think" we're okay now...until the next time.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Cheers Pat.

Well when the power came back on, I too couldn't access Edmunds or nasioc. I thought for sure I got screwed again, but alas the problem is somewhere else. Thank god!

I think the Hamster was watching March Madness. Can't say I blame him, there've been a lot of close games.

All that for invoice and no funny fees. Couldn't have been an easier transaction. Anyone contemplating the VIP option, it's worth the 1 year membership @ IMBA, no doubt. Was treated like royalty as well, no kidding.
So, can I still sit on the fence while I'm waiting for it to come in?

p.s. Nasioc still down. That's 8 hours now.
Way to go Brian congrats.
Cheers Pat.
She was worried she'd roll back at a inclined stop. She didn't know how it worked, but she actually used the hill holder.
The dealer did have a black MT on the lot, but it was a demo, with over 5k on the odo! And the IMBA VIP is not good with a demo anyway (plus I wanted NO part of that vehicle). They had also just received an AT XT in black and a XT PP in silver.

We test drove an Accord coupe last night, and it was definitely nice. Very smooth, and the 4-cylinder was adequate (we drove an auto, but it would be great with a 5-spd). Price is reasonable too. Personally, I don't think it's much smaller than the Forester, but it definitely drives more nimbly and my wife liked it.
So, if anyone sees a silver Forester driving around with a grown man clinging to the back bumper with his heels dragging (literally and figuratively) that would be be us....

2000 Outback for sale ;-)

For those who think I am a NIMBY ... it is well documented that these facilities have a potential for catastrophic consequences. It was just last year the the federal government relaxed restrictions after 40 years. The facilities can safely be sited off shore.
I was part of the organizing effort. I worked on this issue night and day for 3 months. Working with local government to try and get both sides of the issue out in the public.
It all culminated this past Tuesday with 1500 people packing our Muni Auditorium for a City Council meeting. Over 100 passionate and informed speakers were heard. Another 100 were to speak when the meeting continued on Thursday. But on Wednesday the energy company saw the writing on the wall and withdrew. That after their spending 2 years and $1 million dollars against our money out of our pockets and 3 months of organizing.

Good to be back. Got a lot of catching up to do.

Cheers Pat.
We've missed you and we're glad to see you are back.

Craig- Accord coupe is certainly more nimble but it doesn't have near the functionality of the Forester And what about the AWD?

Frank, as long as the spare is the same type of tire (speed, size) then go with whatever you want. If it was me in that situation, I'd probably do the Kumho for the spare.

You're preaching to the choir, Frank! I've gone over the list many times but my wife doesn't really care about that stuff. I know she thinks she can use my Outback when we would need AWD or a wagon, which is true most of the time.
My hope is that I can convince her to consider the 4-door Accord (which is honestly a better car than the coupe) and then segway into an 05 Legacy. The lure of Subaru Bucks may help, we've got a good stash of them. My wife is not loyal to Subaru like me, so the Legacy will definitely have to make a good impression to steer her away from an Accord (and it will have to be in the same price range too).
Personally, I'd rather her just keep the Forester....

btw, if anyone is looking for an STi, the dealer has 3 of 'em on the lot. A Baja turbo too.
And interestingly, the IMBA VIP program is eligible for the STi now. However, the dealership does NOT have to let you choose one of off the lot, in fact, they'd likely do a similar order like mine.
Finally, in talking with my sales guy, he mentioned how they've had a number of people come in over the last couple years for WRX's and now STi's, not realizing that most are MT's (and the STi is only an MT at that). He said something like 8 out of 10 don't know how to drive an MT (and was shocked my dw knew how). So, they've seen a lot of clutches replaced by these same 'unlearned' drivers, just because they had to have a WRX or STi. He even said one fellow who was so bad at driving his MT has gone through 4 (yes, FOUR) trannies in his WRX. They think he's not only awful at shifting, but that he's attempting to race/abuse it a bit. *sigh*
Is it mid-April yet? ;-)

even with clearbra coverage, the later half of the hood is still vunerable, unless the entire hood is covered. Also, the hood deflector reduces the odds of projectile(s) ricocheting from the hood into the windshield.
I wished they had offered hood deflectors for the bug-eyed WRX. The front of my wagon is looking great, but my windshield has taken a beating
-Dave
Had I had the clear bra I would have had to repair the hood at least and at worst replace it. I have since had several smaller stones hit it you can see the chips in the plastic and if it were clear bra these would all be small dents. In view of this I will take the protector every time.
Cheers Pat.
Enough already it is supposed to be spring.

That's it, I'm staple-gunning the pant pockets of Ken and Ed to The Fence. It's getting lonely!
bit: good to hear you're involved in the community at a grass-roots level. Congrats to you, also.
Heading to the crab place next time we eat out, in your honor!
Frank: even though it's a spare, there is the small possibility that the same thing happens again, given you're on those types of roads. You might want to get a tire that matches if you're going through all that trouble.

Frank P.- 60 miles by bike! Congrats to you. What type of terrain was it? Did you do a lot of training before hand? I started riding again so that in the beginning of May I can do the 42 mile Bike NY ride. It's pretty nice- you get to ride through all 5 boros on traffic free streets - even some of the highways! They're even trying to get people to help in getting the olympics in 2012 to NYC. Maybe Subaru should help with that? Get Lance to do the ride:-)
Mark
It was great to come home. Erina was so excited to see me! That's a great feeling.
juice: Nope, still on the fence. I saw the 05 FXT update. Nice, but I'm still eyeing the Leg GT. However, my tranny choices would be different between the two: FXT/5MT, Leg GT/5EAT.

She's surfing the web on my 2nd computer, and she really knows how to get around on that computer! And to think, it's my career yet I only touched my first computer when I was 16!

I admit-right now I am just riding along the boardwalk here in SI- it's not bad round trip is 5 miles so I do a few laps. I have to start doing street riding though, so I can make it over the Verazanno at the end. As for my co-workers and friends, so far only 1 other person said he'd go with me. The thought of exercise for many of them is too scary:-).

Steve, Host
Juice - don't worry I'm still with you on the fence. My list:
FXT MT (2004 or 2005 w/PP?). Silver or White? hmmmm
'05 GT Ltd. Wagon (5MT or 5EAT?). Atlantic Blue Pearl, Regal Blue Pearl or Platinum Silver? hmmmmmmm
Reason I haven't been here as much? It's bike racing season! The last 3 Saturdays have been at an early season race series. The first 2 Sats were 72 miles each, this last one 84 miles. Oh and we averaged about 25.5 mph for that 84 miles. OUCH! I ended up 3rd in the series (scored on points) as I won the 2nd one and finished 10th in this last one.
APD Hamsters - I thought they already had All Paw Drive? Maybe they just need sharper nails? ;-)
Cheers!
