So now I can astound (or dumfound) someone when they ask me a question in which I don't understand, just by saying: "Kangaroo?" :)

on my way from Missouri to New Hampshire.

Sat on the runway 1 1/2 hours while they reconfigured runways. The ride was bumpy, but the wind must of helped because we were only 45 minutes late!

    Rob's Subaru count: 5 days in Missouri - 3, 45 minutes in NH - 22.

    Frank,

Not sure who it is, but nice shot! Good advertising for SOA - "Even in the face of nature, Subaru Forester stays the course".

    Graham: Very fascinating read!

Frank: Wow, that picture is worth a few hundred words!

    You mean...

"Even in the face of nature, Subaru Forester runs away from the course".

It's like a scene from Twister.

Yeah, except in Twister they head into the tornados.

    Dzien Dobry Frank!
I use this flag just to stand out, but matter of fact, last time I lived in Poland was when there were no Subarus, and a Trabant was the height of one's dreams... Speaking of which, I was watching the new movie "Good-bye Lenin" and got a strange feeling of kinship btw. the Trabant and the Forester, that I can't quite explain. Maybe the honest-to-god plain functionality and dorky beauty.

I did love my 98 Forester, except for the clunky gearbox. Soon I'll indulge myself in test-driving the FXT and see if it's better.
  • p0926p0926 Member Posts: 4,423
Hmm... there are a number of folks who would take offense at someone comparing a Trabant to the Forester ;-) However, I see your point about functionality and dorky beauty. Still, the Forester doesn't have plywood doors :-) One word of caution before you test drive an FXT, don't do it unless you're prepared to buy one!

    -Frank P

P.S. The last (and only) time I was in Poland the iron curtain was still intact.

Ok, I've crossed the line. My odo is now at 96K. Time to put the good old Silvius up for adoption.

I'm torn as to whether to buy 2004 Forester (and probably get a good bargain on it) or wait for 2005 (more content).

I followed the links to info on 2005 foresters from Future Models. Anyone knows the colors that we should expect?
  • p0926p0926 Member Posts: 4,423
Where've you been? We were just talking about you at the last chat and speculating that your odo should be pretty close to the magic number.

    Kate,

So the time has come. Question for you: how much more value is the extra content of the 2005 Forester?

Also, do you know when the 05 Foresters are supposed to arrive? I don't think they're going to be part of the 05 Legacy allocation starting this May.

Maybe I'll see you at Santa Cruz Subaru shopping around! I'll be lurking over there soon once the 05 Legacy comes in.

This Fence is getting a little shaky, I have a feeling some folks might fall off soon...

once the new Legacy & Outback arrives, a lot of people will fall from the fence. They just have a lot of very seductive features, and I'm not just talking about the the turbos or H-6's. I think someone cross-shopping the Legacy 2.5i/Outback 2.5i against a Forester XS (even the LL Bean version) could easily be seduced by the new Legacy/Outback.

...the darkside, it beckons you Kate ;-)

-Brian (anxiously awaiting for my '04 XT)
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Forester will be the budget buy.

Right now they overlap too much. Fitz had an Outback in the paper for $19.2k, even with an auto tranny! That's where Foresters typically start off.

Outback should be at least half a step up, and now they will.

5/5 is looking to be the target as it should arrive 5/3 and then needs to go to get the moonroof installed.

I might have to name him: Cinco

    A subie on order.

We bought our 2002 Legacy on May 4, IIRC. So it'll be the 2nd anniversary, already.

Can't make the chat tonight, so Bob put on your "geezer reminder" alarm so you don't forget. ;-)

it's a '04 XT MT, the 'G' is in the correct position of the vin#, if that's what you're asking. ;)

Just ordered the hood deflector and air filter kit, so it'll arrive in time. 8)

so it's not a Vehicle Identification Number number?

hehe. btw, the next movie will be incredible that book was the best by far.

I think Loosh was pointing it out since I had written VIN# and not just VIN. The # was not necessary, but my fingers typed it anyway. :-)

Patti mentioned that there's even a VON, but I'm not sure what that is.

should not it be an AIN? Appliance Identification Number
  • locke2clocke2c Member Posts: 5,038
    it's a Ford Anglia!

    ~c
  • lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
Yes, Colin beat me to it. I think the Weasleys' Anglia is circa 1962.

when I was young there was a chain of chicken takeouts called "Chicken Delight." Their slogan was "Don't cook tonight, call Chicken Delight." The Chicken Delight in the town where we lived used an Anglia like the Weasleys' as its delivery car. IIRC it had a big fiberglass chicken head on the roof.

Well I got to see Lance Armstrong racing several times over the past two days. The Tour De Georgia finished today: http://www.tourdegeorgia.com. Yesterday I got to see the peleton pass by in a couple of places during a 128 mile race through the north GA mountains and watched as they worked their way up the final “Hors Category” climb to the finish. Each time I got to see Lance and US Postal leading the chase group. They eventually reeled in the breakaway with Lance finishing in third place. Today the tour finished up with 4 laps around a 4-mile loop on the outskirts of Atlanta. I picked a good spot 100 meters from the finish and enjoyed watching the cyclists zip by at 30+ mph. Lance finished the race as the overall leader (by 24 sec) which is pretty good considering he was only using this race as a tune-up for the Tour de France. Although the race was sponsored by Dodge (the pace car was a Magnum) there were a couple of Subaru team cars. The US Postal had a H-6 Outback. I didn’t catch the name of the other team but John Elway Subaru provided the car. Speaking of US Postal, they announced this week that they’re pulling their sponsorship at the end of the year. In any case, it was a fun weekend and a true thrill to witness Lance and many other big name cyclists in their element.

and the only reason I'd ever want to go to France is to watch the Tour. I hope to do that sometime in the next decade, preferrably while Lance is still riding... hmmm... seeing win 7... in a row.

I could have posted some great pictures but I broke the first rule of photography, check your equipment beforehand. Yep, I went to take my first picture only to discover that the batteries were virtually dead :-(
