when I heard an abnormally loud "boom" in the windshield area today on my morning commute, I knew it won't be a small scratch. A few minutes later, a crack of about 10" spead from the top of the windshield forming letter "C" ... :-(

Doubt it can be fixed, so Silvius is going to get new glasses. Good thing I have 0 deductible on my comprehensive, because heated windshields are about $1000 from what I heard.

    to replace the windshield?
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
Call your insurance company. More than likely it will be a free replacement. Work it out with them.

    Hi Kate,

I just checked National Geographics web site, but they do not list any rebroadcasts at this time (this week was the 2nd time it was shown this month). But if I see it again, I will let you know.

Sorry to hear of Susan's knee. Bummer of a thing to happen while on vacation! At least if it was on the stairs at work, you would have workman's comp assisting you.... ;-)

Our Subaru cards were finally approved last night, they're sending them over. We'll start accumulating Subaru Bucks while we wait for the Halifax.

Still praying for a "base" model...

At 3% the "bucks" accumulate quickly. I already have almost $300. Not sure what to do with it yet.

I like that you can use it for accessories and maintenance. With the GM card you might miss out completely.

For instance, Subaru doesn't sell a minivan, if that's what you're shopping for next time around then at least you could do a 60k dealer service right before selling, then use that as a selling point. Or a timing belt or whatever you're due for.

I just like that it's flexible in that way.

I wonder how many GM dollars are not cashed in?

This morning Susan saw the orthopedic doc who did the first surgery on her knee in Feb. of 2003. This was two weeks and a day after her accident. He is of the opinion that immobilization is good enough and that she should be off crutches in 6 weeks. She gets to go back to therapy immediately to start stretching it. Today was only her third x ray in the last two weeks and apparently his read of the x rays is that the break is not that serious. Of course her fear is two fold. First if it does not heal properly she will require surgery 6 weeks from now and it will require a further 6 weeks. Second if it does heal properly, how weak is it? She had gotten complete mobility back in her knee and the re-break occurred almost 18 months after the first. She now has a paranoia of physical activity. Anyway 2 weeks after the accident she is actually getting around pretty well without my help so I too can relax a bit and get on with summer chores.

    TWRX,

That's good news. I'm sure there will be challenges in the future, but one thing at a time. First thing is to let it heal. The human body is an amazing machine. I'm sure with the right mind set, she'll be back doing everything she was before.

    "reported a slight increase
in total sales for June with 16,217 units. Legacy sales reached a high point for
this year and were up 23 percent from the previous year with the successful
launch of the completely redesigned 2005 Subaru Legacy and Outback."

    The breakdown is as follows:
The Legacy model line posted 8,405 units, while the Subaru Outback recorded
strong sales of 6,226 units for the month. Subaru Forester posted 4,574 units in
June. The Impreza line recorded 2,629 unit sales, while Subaru Baja recorded
sales of 609 units for the month.

"We are pleased with the positive momentum in Legacy and Outback sales," said
Fred Adcock, executive vice president, Subaru of America, Inc. "We expect to see
this trend strengthen with improved availability of the 250- horsepower, Legacy
2.5 GT sedan and wagon models."

And this is before they really increase availability. The Legacy appears more popular right now, although can that be because the OB is just starting to appear more?

I've seen a number of Outback ads but I finally saw my first ad for the Legacy GT sedan last night. It was pretty good.

Legacy sales include Outbacks, so really it was 2,179 Legacys.

Incredible, she's still the ignored step sister! 74% are still Outbacks!

What's wrong with you people!? LOL

If you lived in Potholesylvania, you'd by an Outback over a Legacy. A Legacy would be swallowed whole by the holes. :D

I think it's due to: 1) image, 2) perceived need for the extra ground clearance, 3) easier ingress / egress, 4) more standard equipment (although at a price), 5) ?

Either way, at least Subaru's sales were up compared to GM and Ford.

FWIW The Weather Channel ran a Legacy GT sedan ad this morning around 6:15am EDT. I was in the kitchen so could only see the ad, not hear it.

I suspect she will not be the ignored stepsister for much longer.

I've seen it on TV, and I like it. In fact, I've seen it several times in the past couple of days.

that the Impreza sales —and especially the WRX sales—will take a big hit as the new Legacys start becoming readily available. The base GT sedan is not that much more expensive than a WRX sedan. If you were considering a WRX sedan and found out for not much more, you could have a Legacy GT sedan, which would you choose?

    Bob
  • lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
I'm considering a Forester XT and could have a Legacy GT or Outback XT wagon for not much more, but the Forester just appeals to me much more. But what do I know, I'm strange that way... ;-p

In case I don't get a chance - Wishing everyone here a safe and fun July 4th weekend. Please don't wash your cars until Monday. Thanks. :)

    Greg

P.S. Thinking of our friends who are dealing with various medical issues. Hope this weekend also gives you time to recover.

Don't drive the OBXT if you haven't already! The Sportshift and better handling might change your mind about your needs/wants. ;-)

Ditto here for a safe & fun 4th to all - but I have to at least clean the windshield! Family is camping - I'm at work til tomorrow AM, but I brought home several pounds of bugs last night driving in from the campground. Considering that plus the tar from the road destruction, I respectfully request a mulligan in the 'don't-wash-the-car-cuz-it-will-rain game'. Please? :)

    Cheers!

I drove a Legacy GT Limited wagon with Sportshift and all the bells and whistles recently. Nice but I'm not quite ready for that. Sportshift had a bit of a lag but better than BMW Steptronic IMO (haven't driven an Audi Tip in a while but IIRC that was better than Steptronic as well).

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
You're right Dave, but I think the top 3 reasons are image, image, and then of course there's image.

WRX sales might take a dip. I think as WRX buyers mature, though, a Legacy GT is a natural choice. Especially if they had 0-1 kids when they got the WRX, and 2 kids now.

We're beach-bound for the 4th. No better place to watch fireworks, sand between your toes and water to cool the kids down.

    Have a good weekend, all.

I was at the dealer for scheduled maintenance and was checking out a new Legacy GT when a mother and teenage son came in to the showroom. The sales guy sadly didn't even know what type fuel the GT took (or much of anything else as far as I could determine) so fortunately he got called away and I spent a good while explaining the different models and the advantages and disadvantages of each. The lady of course wanted to know if I worked there and was surprised to find out that I didn't (see all this Subaru trivia isn't totally useless). In fact after thanking me and telling me she was probably going to get a Legacy wagon, she told me I deserved a commission (hey Patti are you listening) :-)

    -Frank
  • kenskens Member Posts: 5,869
Nice going Frank! Perhaps Subaru should start giving us commissions in an effort to keep their dealers on their toes.

New to this forum. Got my Legacy GT Limited sedan yesterday. A silver automatic. My wife is clutch impaired. Lot's of fun so far but can't really test it out until the 1,000 mile break in is over. I only drive about 30-35 miles a day so I'll have to find errands or it'll take over a month.

Happy 4th to everyone! The weather looks to be incredible in New England for once.

Congrats to everyone who purchased GT's. Take a spin for me. Rob M.

    Jim,

Welcome and congrats! I'm also very close to taking delivery on silver auto GT Ltd wagon. Same situation here of a clutch-impaired wife.

Let us know how the break in process goes.

I had to beg to get on this computer for ten minutes. Steve I got your message just before we checked out thanks a lot, If anyone else called sorry I missed them.

Bruce sorry to hear of your wife and I hope she improves quickly.

Anne Marie is still making prgress, the bad news is that she has significant damage to her eyes, caused by lack of blood flow and oxygen also by the oxidosis.

She has damage right in her field of vision which is causing her to see green spots in front of her eyes, she is still having xrays done every 2 days to make sure there is no more progression and she has an appointment with a retina specialist on July 16th which is the day after we leave.

Obviously things are still somewhat hairy for her, but considering she was not expected to be here at all, I guess she will make the adjustments needed to live with her limitations.

If I missed anything in the posts sorry, I had just the time to skim through them.

     Cheers Pat.
  • lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
Not the best news, but as you write it is much better than what might have been and she still shows improvement. Continued thoughts and prayers your way.

I look forward to the day when we have lighter things to discuss - like hockey :-)...

    Best wishes,
    Ed
