I got 35 days in so I'm happy, but the non-profit resort here is going to take a big financial hit losing the Spring Break skiers. That'll push expansion plans back another year or two.
Steve, Host
We filled out so many forms, basically every one there is! 1040, A, B, C, SE, H, etc.
*sigh*
At least we got refunds.

Cheers Pat.
Cheers Pat.
It could be worse. Self & wife, 1st daughter, 2nd daughter, and my mother's taxes all will be done by 4/15.
See what you can look forward to when to opened those trustee accounts for your kids when they were young...
Jim
I haven't been around these parts for a while, but I have remained true to the Crew nevertheless. Especially when it comes to selling others on Subies...
My son bought a Subie, a used Impreza 2.5RS -- in San Antonio Texas no less! Subarus are as rare as hounds teeth around those parts.
My wife's daughter bought a Subie, a 2005 Legacy GT wagon, in which to haul her soon-to-arrive first child.
My wife is joining the Crew too, as she inherits my trusty Legacy GT. Which also means that....
...*I* bought my *second* Subie. A Crystal Gray WRX STi -- yeehaw! I've only had it a week but, wow, what a hoot.
I'll post more about the STi in the near future. In the meantime, hello again :-)
Cheers,

Glad to see you back.

Hey, we were talking about your wire-chewing rodent experience just the other day, wasn't that your GT?
I still have my '98 Forester but now the wife has an '02 Legacy L. My dad, brother, and sister now have Subies too.
It's contagious. :-)

Cheers Pat.
And congratulations on the growing family and Subaru fleet!
WRX STi!? Nice!

ok, guys, now I've done something - don't know what and I wish I hadn't ... my lower back is just killing me ... add that to the suspense every morning of not knowing which of the five program assistants I supervise will be ill (or home with sick children), how many will actually have a substitute available, and how I will rearrange schedules for all five plus me to be sure all our students with disabilities have the assistance they need for the day, while I blithely try to manage what appear to be thousands of pieces of paper which are necessary for the annual case reviews on all the students which start in less than 2 weeks ....
have a good day, y'all!
My rodent experience had to do with a groundhog moving around atop the engine of my Legacy, causing an Audi-esque "unintended acceleration" condition as it manipulated the throttle cable. Something that won't happen with the STi -- drive by wire :-)
Yes, an STi is a fine cure for mid-life whatevers, and Crystal Gray is da bomb. I'm still in the breakin period so I haven't opened it up fully yet, but even so it's the fastest thing I've ever driven in my life. Likes so far: the power, the tenacious grip, the power, the velvety smooth cruise control, the power, the fantastic headlights, the power, the gee-whiz gauge cluster, the power, the set-and-forget climate control, and did I mention the power? Dislikes: smaller steering wheel cuts off the top of the dash display (but then I do like the wheel fairly low), NVH varies tremendously depending on the road surface and can become tiresome when commuting over worn freeways (although it seems to be easing as the car breaks in -- that, or else I'm rapidly getting used to it), and the wing attracts far too much of the wrong kind of attention (oh how I wish it came in a wagon).
I strongly considered a Legacy GT wagon but decided that this may be the only moment in my life when buying an iconic machine such as this would make any sense at all. I'm old enough to rue not having owned the likes of GTOs, Boss 302s, Austin-Healy 100-6s, and 1966 E Type Jaguar coupes, and I didn't want to let another opportunity like that to go by. The '05 is a significant step up from the '04, and next year's model is probably going to have the Alfa nose and who knows what that will look like. The time just seemed right to do it, if ever I was going to. So I did!
Cheers,
-wdb
You gotta own a dream car once in your life. I wonder when I'll finally take the dive. Not any time soon, I think.
Brenda - my doc gave me Etodolac when I sprained my lower back, and that worked wonders. Pain pills just mask the symptoms, so those effects were just temporary. Etodolac helped me get moving again and I've been better since, using much better posture mostly.
Talk to your doctor.

I know what you mean -- I made the mistake of driving an STi and it left a lasting impression on me. Holy moly! Made my regular WRX seem like a slow poke.
Regarding the NVH -- at some point, you might consider changing the tires. The stockers are pretty much racing slicks. You can get a more comfortable tire and retain most of the car's capability for street driving. Stock tires are perfect for the track, but they are serious overkill (and carry a comfort penalty) for "legal" street use.
Craig
Aren't those summer tires actually decent in the rain?
-juice
I'm sure of this because it's the only significant change I noticed going from the stock 235/45-17 tires on my Evo (virtually identical to the RE070 on the STi) to a Dunlop Wintersport in the same size.
The ride harshness is in the struts. Neither the STi nor the Evo are really all that firmly sprung; makes them good out of the box in the dirt...

My test drive left me with a lasting impression, too...literally. I went home bruised after my test drive.
hopefully it's 'just' a back muscle strain. Take some motrin (with food!) 600-800mg (3-4 tablets) Prescription strength Motrin is 800mg. Just make sure your stomach is ok when taking anti-inflammatories (they can cause ulcers)
If you start having numbness or weakness of you legs, go see your doctor right away.
Maybe I should start doing house calls? ;-)

(old age is the pits)
Cheers Pat.
Welcome back, my franco-american friend! nice job on the STi as well. I believe that hound's teeth are relatively common in Texas but, like many place, it's the hen's teeth that are hard to find. ;-)
I took the wing off yesterday. Then I reluctantly put it back on; there are far too many holes in the trunk, and they're oval so plugs would be all but impossible to find, and I don't really need a trunk full of water just yet! I guess the wingless look will have to wait until I can swing another trunk lid. (I know there are a lot of "trunk swaps" taking place but I want to retain the option to put the car back to factory original condition.)
I did take a bunch of pictures of the car with no wing and with only the lower part mounted. I'll post a link to the pictures once I have them online.
[Edit] Oops, hen's teeth it is! Anyway he sure doesn't have to worry about seeing his own car coming at him in the San Antonio environs.
Cheers,
-wdb
You're all invited. :-)
My dad's favorite toast:
Here's to a long life and a merry one;
A quick death and an easy one;
A pretty girl and an honest one;
A cold beer -- and another one!
Cheers!
Paul
Karen- nice toast!

Enjoy, and have a safe one.

Oh, that was a Legacy GT.
Happy St. Patrick's Day to all.

The question is: Is that one person or two?!

The best thing that I ever did for back pain was to get accupuncture.

How many folks showed up?

I believe 32 by Mod Bob's count. Rob M.

I just wanted to bring to everyone's attention that Subaru is once again a primary sponsor of this year's AIDS/Lifecycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles -- just one more reason that I am proud to own a Subaru (01 Outback, 04 WRX).
My partner and I will be participating in the ride on June 5-11, pedaling 585 miles from San Francisco to Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. This is our first ride of this magnitude, averaging about 80 miles a day for 7 days while we wind our way down Highway 1 and 101.
The purpose of the ride is to raise awareness and money for the two primary beneficiaries, the SF AIDS Foundation and the LA Gay and Lesbian Center -- both outstanding organizations that provide critical support to those living with HIV and AIDS. So far this year, the 2000 riders have raised over $1 million and we still have 2 months left.
My partner and I have formed a 3-person team for the event and together we plan to raise $10,000 for the cause, that's $2500 more than the minimum amount we need for the 3 of us to enter. I've been a regular "poster" here on Edmunds for the past few years, and I've always been impressed with the help and courtesy extended to others here, which is why I wanted to provide a link to our homepage on the AIDS/Lifecycle website.

Again, I am very pleased that Subaru has once again been a primary sponsor of this event. My partner and I are always very conscious of what types of businesses we patronize, and knowing that Subaru is committed to progressive organizations such as ALC makes me proud to drive a Subaru!
