That said, your driving experience sounds like fun! There's nothing better than a drive through fresh snow!
and yea, the FXT range was gawd awful. 240mpt
Oh well. Work killed my vacation again. Had to go in until right before Christmas, then did PC and phone support for 3 hrs a day average on a crisis project when I wasn't there. This working for a living is getting old....
Got down to Spotsylvania Courthouse, VA in time to still see a lot of the 2 ft of snow they received. As my S-I-L lives out on a dirt road part of the battlefield that receives no services, it was still pretty rough. Had the Odyssey but it has snow tires. Traction control worked overtime getting us up the hills.
Happy New Year to all. Hope this year treats us better than the last one did.
ok .. no excuse ... the netbook was sitting right there beside me and I forgot chat ...
(Monty Python comes to mind: "poke her with the comfy pillows!")
How do you like the netbook, and what did you get? I bought Beth a Nook for the holidays, but she isn't hot on it and we are contemplating returning it. She keeps dropping hints that her 4 yr old laptop is a pain to lug around, so I think I could parlay the Nook cost into a decent netbook. I was looking at the Asus Eee 1005ha.
I am jealous about all this reported snow / snow driving everyone is getting. We have had next to no snow (nothing significant, anyway) this year and it is a real downer given my new Forester and the amazing tires I mounted on it.
Sorry I missed you,

I have a choice between a 2006 Subaru Tribeca Limited 7 Passenger Leather with 68K Miles on it for $15000 or one with 33K Miles on it for $17500 .... the only differences are the one with 68K miles on it has a DVD player and tow package and is a private party and the other one with 33K miles on it is at a Subaru dealer ( but not certified ) .... which would you choose ? Should I be concerned about the higher milage of the 68K one ?
Thanks,
J
Dad owned a lake-front property in Lake of the Woods in the 80s. Loads of fun.
It's a very different place now, so congested I don't even recognize it.
I would have the private party one inspected if you intend to buy it.
The EZ30 engine has been pretty reliable, so the miles wouldn't scare me away. I'd be tempted to pay less money for more content, and take the miles. Just make sure the drivetrain is perfect.
Good luck.
Around Thanksgiving, Dell ran one on an EXCELLENT sale ... and he bought me a 'replacement' for Xmas ... the Dell is also 10.1" with 160GB hard drive running Windows XP .. regular price was $389 .. it was online for $229.00 ... I spotted it on dealswoot.com
it was new - not a refurb
I LOVE it ...
My husband has an Ases eee (not sure of the model number) that is the bit smaller netbook and it runs Linux. He likes it for just 'cruising' the net and 2-finger typing ... but it frustrates him at times when he is trying to hook up to wireless at a hotel ...

Typing 20 words/minute is average.
Typing 40 words/minute is fast.
Typing 752 words/minute and you're Brenda.

My savings account returned 0.15%, so a used Subaru actually would have had 9 times better returns than my credit union!
I've got my money in the wrong place.
I know that this is probably a topic for the Cafe rather than MTM, but after looking at the capabilities of the Atom processor, Win7 Starter, the 600 line screen and smaller keyboard of the 10.1" screen Asus 1005HA Eeee, I'm trying to convince her to go up less than an inch in width & length to a Acer AS-1410 that sports an HD resolution 11.6" screen, full version of Win7, and a seriously powerful Core2 processor with more cache, SDRAM & HDD - all for less than $100 more. Wow, was that a run-on sentence.
One thing is there's always a downside to more power- and that's fuel economy. I'm sure the battery life probably goes down. I have a netbook to do simple things- not to be blazing fast. My netbook gets 9hrs of battery life- which is a lot better than any laptop I've ever had.
Just something else to consider. If you're always near an outlet, then no biggie. Having a bigger screen and keyboard are both nice! (but then at this point, why not get a much bigger screen and keyboard!)

Now here's the surprise. Consumer Reports just rated the slightly enhanced Acer 1810TZ (same platform as the 1410 but with the dual core processor) at about equal runtime as the higher rated netbooks! It does seem to be the best of both worlds. Cake and eat it too. Floor wax and a desert topping! (sorry for that last one...).
Brenda: good punctuation saves the day!
That's a very nice Euphemism, Brenda. Somehow I don't think my teenage boys will buy it though.

Hope you feel better, Brenda.

Hoops coaching. :shades:
I went to work today, but it was a long argument this morning to get me out the door! I knew that they would NOT be able to get a sub for Friday afternoon, so I figured I'd 'tough it out' .. I made it, but I am headed to go lie down with a 'hot pack' on my face ... ugh ...
The zone defense is working well. That's the most points they've allowed all season.
