Extended warranty not required. I would just take my chances. I still have a 2003 civic LX that I bought brand new. It has about 220,000 miles now and the only thing I have had to change was the alternator two months ago. Other than that, just oil changes and tires.
First visit was to explain to multiple people the problem and then they understood.
They had to call Honda in California, who told them to first replace the door actuator (or something), then the alarm control module.
That took two more days to get parts and install one, test, install other, test, still no fix.
Then Honda told them to remove the door panel, follow all the wiring.
That fixed it - something about an incorrect ground at a connection inside the door panel.
It is working fine now - so the correct behavior is that once remote is used to unlock the front drivers door, and the door is opened and closed, at this time the alarm should be completely disabled. Now I can spend as much time as need to clear the snow off the car :-)
is this a good price? thanks
you always feel like you are getting ripped off its a horrible feeling but i think i did ok
Then I have also had three times that I tried to start and it cranks and cranks and wont stsrt. Then i shut off..swear.. then ttry again and it cranks hard then starts.... aggghh.. anyone else have issues???
Im thinking what you're doing is putting the key and going directly to start the car. Honda's don't work that way, you have to first let the fuel pump prime itself then it'll start fine.Typical honda. nothing wrong with it.
TIA folks.

Take it to the dealer is a cheap way out, especially when most dealers have a tough time diagnosing simple issues. I sure hope the original poster will try my simple procedure instead of what you've said.
I've driven a Corolla, Camry, Eclipse, F-150, Ranger, CLK 430, and X5 over the years, and not one of them ever had starting issues unless the battery was shot...
Can anyone verify this change in the 09 model or is it the same?
Meantime, i'm having a hard time finding things to be critical of with this car; it's a peach. fyi:
- wimpy exhaust note ( I don't favor noise, it's just that this sound is, well...)
- audio knobs have a slick surface
- no lumbar adjuster
- no auto-on headlights, just like my chevy has; i miss this most of all
- the wipers are way cool but i wonder what the refills will cost
- the trunk (is it a latch?) protrudes down and i bonk my forehead when reaching in there sometimes
Just use the ones on the steering wheel.
It just might be the main fuel relay as mentioned in another thread.
My solution (and I don't know if this is going to work) is to take one of those neoprene rubber beer can holders, cut out the bottom and wrap the sides around the hand grip then secure it with some neatly wrapped black electrical tape. It may not look as cool as factory, but I think it might just solve the problem. I'll return to this site and let you know what happened.
A friend of mine just bought an '07 Lexus IS 250. I was surprised to see that it has a foot-pedal operated parking brake (like most older domestic cars). I think Toyota uses these on the Camry and Avalon, too. It opens up space on the center console or allows the console to be smaller (and out of the way of us long-legged folks).
Do hand-operated parking brakes really make sense anymore?
If your resourceful solution doesn't solve the issue, check out some Honda and/or Civic-specifc enthusiast forums (just Google "Honda Civic forum"). I'm sure there is an aftermarket solution of some sort available by now!
Anyway, congrats on the new car! I currently have a Mazda3, but I've had several Civics (and Accords) in the past and loved every one of 'em!
By the way, the IS 250 is actually the ONLY Lexus that you can get with a manual (a 6-speed). But after you made that comment, I started wondering if the IS250 6MT had a hand brake. I found a review of it with photos and, sure enough, the manual transmission model has a different center console with a hand brake!
I didn't realize you could get the 250 with a manual. I'm thinking of the 350 I suppose, with the big ol' 3.5L V6. No row-your-own option there. Thanks for the correction.
Now, back to... Civics, yeah... Civics.
I just purchased my car in late October and my calipers are excessively rusted. They tell me this is normal at the dealers. It makes the car look 5 years old.
See you there!
No new civic model for 2010 nor 2011......
"Civic As the current body style debuted in the 2006 model year, the Civic received its MMC last year. In other words, minimal changes are expected for 2010. For those who are counting on the Civic getting an FMC next year, think again. The Civic has generally been on a 5-year model cycle, which means the FMC (full model change) would normally be expected for the 2011 model year, but we have heard through several sources that the 8th generation Civic's model cycle has been stretched a year and the introduction of the 9th generation Civic has been pushed back to the 2012 model year. The good news is, this gives Honda another year to consider bringing the brilliant Japanese-spec Civic Type R over, but will they? Sadly, the answer is likely "no".
Summary: Few changes until 2012 FMC.
Watch For: 6-year cycle for 8th generation Civic. Also watch for people expiring due to prolonged holding of breath waiting for a proper Civic Type R to make its way to our shores.
Available: August/September"
My insurance agent says the VIN numbers of all
