The ASC should apply to all input sources and the amp. It sounds more like a problem in the FM tuner section of the radio; perhaps just poor signal capture / sensitivity.
  • outlanderlsgeooutlanderlsgeo Member Posts: 21
i have a base radio so no 6-disk cd or aux jack available. So i'm thinking how can i connect my psp to the unit. Is the wireless fm transmitter a good choice compared to the direct connection via the aux or 3.5mm jack?
  • slaigoslaigo Member Posts: 18
I tried the fm transmitter route before and the sound quality is not good, and sometimes you would lose the signal on some locations.

Directly wire if possible. Check first if you can access AUX function on your radio by pressing the CD button for 2 secs. If you have AUX function then the audio inputs are available via a wire harness located inside the back of the armrest. Good luck
  • outlanderlsgeooutlanderlsgeo Member Posts: 21
what do you mean inside the back of the armrest? in the base radio? yeah i can access the aux functions on the radio. you're right fm transmitter sounds awful, really don't like the quality.
  • slaigoslaigo Member Posts: 18
Check my post #18 & 20. The center armrest or center console not the the base of the radio. Good luck

I have a question regarding the Mitsubishi Multi Communication System. I live in Denmark, Europe and the car is really popular here, I had a Test drive few weeks ago and loved it. Unfortunately the dealer sold the test car because the queue at this moment to get a new car is 3-4 months!! You can’t get a test drive at any dealer because they all sold their cars...
There are few differences between the Europe and the US car. The car in Europe comes with a 2.0 Volkswagen Diesel engine and u can’t get a sunroof installed because it supposedly significantly reduces the cars safety in this model... Anyways to get to the point, I’m getting the best version there is but it does not come with the Navigation. Is it worth getting it? What functions does it have over the standard radio ( besides the music server )? How detailed are the maps of Europe?
And another thing. If I order the car today it is going to arrive in September, is it worth waiting 1-2 months more and getting the 2008 model? Can anyone tell me what kind of “new” features might I expect from the 2008 car?

has anyone have updated there navigation maps and how? my map version 2005v2. i think that means from the year 05. thats real outdated. lot of missing poi's even the most common like walmart and albertsons.
    ;)
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
There isn't an update that I know of. One of the respected poster in several Outlander forums by the name of Manybrews said this update isn't going to be free, and will come, as I have pointed out earlier, in the form of a CD/DVD update, and should be available in your favorite dealership when Mitsu releases it.

I am basically just looking at a more efficient recalculation algorithm in the Navi more than the map update itself. The recalc function is OK but not the greatest. Sometimes it fails to show the shortest route, even if I set it to "shortest" in the settings. and in some instance it will create a loop rather than going straight.

I wired in my Ipod Shuffle today to the AUX input wires located behind the armrest in the rear today. Sounds great to me. I want to add a few things to "rcpax's" post to help others. When he said "pop" off the back off the arm rest he means pull it off. Do not remove the four screws (two on each side). The screws hold in a mounting frame that holds the back cover in. Just pull it off. The next item I want other to check is the wiring. I found that the black wire was the Right channel, the blue wire was the ground (shield) and the white wire was the Left channel. I took a little time to check this so I'm fairly sure this is correct. I used 24 gauge sold wire that pushed into the connector very nicely. When you look at the holes in the connect (with the notch on the top) push the wires into the bottom of the opening. What I mean is if you look at the openings in the connector each hole has a large opening and a smaller hole that is divided with a small horizontal bar. I folded the wire back onto the side of the connector and pushed the connector back into its holder. This secured the wire nicely. For the input side of the wire I used a 1/8" 3-wire phono jack that I got from Radio Shack (#274-249). I soldered this to the other side of my 24 gauge twisted wire. I then drilled a hole inside the armrest where the AC Inverter would have been located ( just to the side of the 12-volt outlet). This was a great spot for me because its directly above the harness which gives a short run of wire and keeps the jack out of sight but within easy access for the driver. Keep you hole to the back of the car, if you look under in the back first you will see the the entire bottom of the area is not accessible. One footnote, I had to trim a small ring off of the base of the Phone Jack (at the bottom of the thread) to let it come thru the plastic enough to get the ring (nut) on that holds the jack in place. I took pictures of the installation and will post when I get a chance if I can figure out how to do this. Hope this helps. :)

any word on the fix yet?? any more details?? I'm taking my XLS in to my dealer (in canada), and they asked me if anyone had heard new news on the problem....as Mitsu Canada has no issues reported yet.

For people who bought the Navi,
    1. Has it been everything you expected?
    2. Would you buy it again, knowing what you know now after playing with all the features.

I am really questioning whether or not I will question it down the line after purchasing it. I think it will definetly add to the re-sale of the vehicle too.
  • biscuit_xlsbiscuit_xls Member Posts: 194
I'd buy it again in a heartbeat, it's great!
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
Oh yeah, definitely worth it, especially if you bought it as a factory option.
  • josh_raben1971josh_raben1971 Member Posts: 7
I did this exact same thing, but I wired ground to BLACK. And it worked perfectly. I am not sure why both work.
  • slaigoslaigo Member Posts: 18
    Josh,

Just rechecked my wiring, Mitsudriver is correct, the ground or shield is connected to the blue with silver streak wire.

My mistake in my earlier post where I indicated that the ground or shield was connected to the last or 5th slot, it is actually connected to the 4th slot. In other words looking from the top of the connector, from left to right 12S345. Slots 3 or 5 are either left or right channel, slot 4 is the ground or shield connection. The color codes are:

slot 3 = white (left or right channel)
    slot 4 = blue/silver (shield or ground)
slot 5 = black (right or left channel)

I apologize for making a mistake in my earlier post. It was dark and I thought the shield was connected to slot 5 when it is actually on the 4 slot.

Luckily I ma not using the Jack until I get a suitable mount for my existing GPS...easy enough to pop off the panel and swap the blue/silver to the nuetral, and then the wire currently on the blue/silver to the black. Piece of cake. I am just glad that it is sorted out so that I do not hurt my stereo.

It has been worth EVERY dollar I used to purchase the NAV system. My Next Outlander will have it too!
  • needforspeed29needforspeed29 Member Posts: 13
Thanks xcell, what makes it worth every dollar, $1,800 option. Can you give me some reasons. I just dont want to regret it, if I do end up buying it. Owners who have it should be able to come up with reasons, since they are using it daily. Any feedback is helpful.
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
You are actually talking about the MMCS. And here's why you should get it:

    It works as a:
    1. Navigation system
    2. Center console for all your vehicle's computer setting. You get to set all the "user selectable" settings, which otherwise you couldn't have known, unless maybe you read the 1 inch thick manual cover to cover.
    3. MP3, WAV, CD-Audio, DVD player.
    4. Music server.
    5. Sirius tuner
    6. Display for your PS/2 PS/3 Wii VCR Videocam
    7. Backup camera display (With the right modification

As you can see, you can't replace it with a 200$ Garmin or Tomtom. :D

I just got a call from my Mitsu Dealer and they just got of the phone with Mitsu Tech Support about the radio. I was told the Mitsu is in the final process of a design update to the radio. I was told sometime in May will be the release date. I will believe it when it happens.
  • no5no5 Member Posts: 10
Just picked up my XLS today (Canada, no navi though). Within 10 minutes of driving, my FM reception was cutting in and out within the mid-high ranges. Even my wife noticed it which says alot.

    DAMN!
  • school89school89 Member Posts: 7
Here is how I went thru the process.

    1) Had my sales rep ride with me. He noticed it also on the drive.

    2) Told them about it. has my sales rep with me to verify the issue.

    3) printed out all the messages in this forum.

    4) Fax the whole thing to my Mitsui dealer.

    5) They call me to ask me what channels I listen to. I gave them a short lost of the ones.

    6) They called Mitsui Tech support.

7)Mitsui tech open up a case.

    8) I picked up my car before the Mitsui tech got back to my dealer.

    9) had to go back for a second time of the clang in the front end.

    10) they fixed the clang. They also keep the car a extra day to work with Mitsui tech on the radio issue.

    11) picked up the car and they told me that Mitsui is working on a fix for these radio issues.

    12) was told that it was to be released in May. I been working on this issues for a while now. I am glad Mitsui is working on it unlike some other dealers.

as soon as I get a update from my Mitsui dealer I post a message.

    Take care.

    Bud:

I'm pretty sure the sunroof and windows stay powered for a set amount of time after the car is turned off to allow you to close any open windows or the sunroof. Does the detector eventually go off after 30 or 45 seconds?

Does the nav. display non-map info such as altitude, latitude/longitude, or auxiliary gauge info such as acceleration, heading, etc?
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
It sure does, and more than that.
  • smoke_1erssmoke_1ers Member Posts: 17
I live in ontario, canada. just heard back from my dealer who has had my truck in for the day. there were two problems diagnosed.
1st: drivers side mirror has defects that cause distortion when viewing from various angles, a replacement has been ordered under warranty.
2nd: the radio clarity volume issue. the service department has found a problem with the radio antenna base. They have ordered the replacement under warranty.

I am going to pick it up now....I'll update on the ETA for the replacement parts.....then whether the fix actually works!
  • dodo2dodo2 Member Posts: 496
Funny... I have the problem no.1 too. I was asking around and nobody seemed to have it. When was your car manufactured? Perhaps Mitsu had a bad batch. Mine is Jan07.
The mechanic at my dealership said he will order a replacement mirror. No rush for me though as I enjoy seeing how various cars would look flattened. Most funny looking so far was the Infinity FX45.
Not sure about no.2, but once more info comes out, I will take it to my dealer an have them to replace whatever needs to be replaced.
  • school89school89 Member Posts: 7
for the number 2 issue. My dealer thought it would fix my radio issue but they looked into the matter more and found out that was for a different year outlander not the 2007
  • smoke_1erssmoke_1ers Member Posts: 17
I've looked through the owners manual....to no avail. It only mentions that the FAST-Key fob can be programmed to open different sequences of doors. Called the dealer....they said to check the manual as they didn't know. Anyone figure out how to set the fast key to unlock all doors when opening the drivers side first? thanks!
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
You can reprogram it to open all doors through the MMCS (Navi) Screen. Does your Outlander have the MMCS?
  • smoke_1erssmoke_1ers Member Posts: 17
I don't have the MMCS, thats the problem I'm having....I know it can be done very easily with the nav system...how to do it without...now thats the brain buster!

Does anyone have Radio Clarity Issue fixed?
  • carstalkcarstalk Member Posts: 16
1 pull on front door handle with audible beep would unlock that door. 2 consecutive quick pulls (audible beep after 1st pull) on any front door handle would unlock all 4 doors.

I have an XLS w/o Navi, and that's how it works. Hope yours is the same.
  • souellettesouellette Member Posts: 7
I think i have the same issue. I can hear my radio sort of cut out a little and then come clear. it seems to cut out more than playing clear. Sort of stuttering in a way with the clarity.
  • chelentanochelentano Member Posts: 634
actually a single pull on the passenger front door suppose to open all 5 doors, but on the driver side you need two pulls.
  • school89school89 Member Posts: 7
If you are having the issue with the radio please go to your dealer and have them open a mitsui tech. I have called my dealer and they stated that the more information they get from the end user the quicker the Mitsui can get a fix.
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
In mu Outlander, all I need is to hold the door handle on driver side, wait for the beep and signal light flash, then pull the door open, no two pulls or anything, and all doors get unlocked.
  • smoke_1erssmoke_1ers Member Posts: 17
when i open the car from the drivers side....no matter how many "pulls" I give the handle.....only my door unlocks. if I go to the drivers side...no matter how many "pulls" I give the handle....all the doors unlock (same goes for the rear hatch). I have read that the fast key system can be programmed to open any door you want.....nothing in the manual....and get this...I call the dealer....they say the car is too new to know how to do it?!?!?!?! does that sound like they're selling a car they don't understand???
  • chelentanochelentano Member Posts: 634
What I do, I open the passanger door for my wife first and sit her. She loves it. This kills two birds with one stone: unlocks all ther doors and improves intimacy so much.
  • mitsudrivermitsudriver Member Posts: 12
Dealer called me two different about radio problem.
Mitsu know about problem and are working on fix.
Antenna base was a problem with 06 and older outlander not the 07. Just keep checking back with the dealer if they don't call you. If anyone else is having this problem contact you dealer, don't live with it, Mitsu knows that they have a problem and are working on a fix.
  • josh_raben1971josh_raben1971 Member Posts: 7
I just took mine to the dealer and said "Please make it so that all my doors unlock when any of the sensored handles are touched....and also please set it so that when I put the CUV in PARK that all the doors will unlock. Thank You." That was it. They did it in 5 minutes, and I then drove home. EASY.
  • chelentanochelentano Member Posts: 634
    Do you have havigation system?
Do your doors lock automaticaly, when you put it in DRIVE?
  • josh_raben1971josh_raben1971 Member Posts: 7
I do not have the navigation system. There is not an option to lock all automatically when in drive....IF that was available, I would have had them do that change as well.
  • bodble2bodble2 Member Posts: 4,514
So...you mean it only beeps on the first pull, no further beeps when the other doors unlock? What if all the doors (or just the driver's door) was already unlocked to begin with? Would it still beep when you grab the handle?

Also I assume there are buttons on the fob that would achieve the same results?

How about if you grab the handle to unlock, change your mind and don't open. Would it re-lock automatically?

Do the doors lock automatically when you walk away (ie. after parking car), or would you have to touch the door handle or use the fob to lock?

Sorry for all the questions, but I have a bit of an obsession with all the new hi-tech systems!

    Many thanks.

    Don't know if it'll make anyone feel better;
I had a rental Chevy HHR last week on business travel, and it had the same radio fading issue as my 07 Outlander. I know comparing anything to a Chevy is never a good thing.
  • gene_vgene_v Member Posts: 235
My dealer said it cannot be done.
  • chelentanochelentano Member Posts: 634
    >> So...you mean it only beeps on the first pull, no further beeps when the other doors unlock?

Actualy, you don't have to pull to unlock. You just touch the handle and it beeps/unlocks, then you pull handle to open the door. It beeps only once even for all doors.
    .

    >> What if all the doors (or just the driver's door) was already unlocked to begin with? Would it still beep when you grab the handle?

No, it beeps only to confirm unlocking.
    .

    >> Also I assume there are buttons on the fob that would achieve the same results?

Yes. There is also a small backup key which fits right into the fob for storage. Kinda like stylus inside of PDA.
    .

    >> How about if you grab the handle to unlock, change your mind and don't open. Would it re-lock automatically?

You touch the handle and it beeps/unlocks. It will not re-lock automatically, but there is convinient rubber button right on the handle to relock.
    .

    >> Do the doors lock automatically when you walk away (ie. after parking car), or would you have to touch the door handle or use the fob to lock?

No, you can press the rubber button on the handle to lock or use the fob.
  • bodble2bodble2 Member Posts: 4,514
Thanks for the detailed explanation. Much appreciated.

Kinda surprised it doesn't have the auto re-lock feature though. Mitsubishi used to have this feature. Maybe only if the fob is used to unlock, or something that can be programmed by the dealer?

I own a 2007 Outlander XLS model (canadian version), I'm trying to find the Sirius ESN Id so I can activate the Satelitte Radio Service but I'm not able to find it?

I followed instruction in the Owner Manual but this did not work as I never get the Sat option to display on the Screen, I only get AM/FM even if button says AM/FM/Sat.

Does anyone know if the Sirius feature is included in the Canadian Edition of the Outlander? The dealer said it was, I just had to follow instruction in manual.
