Does anyone know if the Sirius feature is included in the Canadian Edition of the Outlander? The dealer said it was, I just had to follow instruction in manual.

AFAIK, Sirius is not available as an option for the Canadian 07 Outlanders, not even with the HDD/Ent pack for XLS, so that would explain why you don't have the Sat option. Don't rely too much on the dealers, you probably know more than them.
  • corktonfuncorktonfun Member Posts: 3
Im looking at buying at'07 XLS but not too sur about the high price of the factory system. In Canada they want to charge $4000.00 gig ones. Thats a bit high for my liking! I am checking out Pioneers AVIC-Z2 which has all the same options and more (10 GB memory for CD's instead of 5GB) for around $1600 bucks on ebay. Can anybody tell me why I shouldn't put the aftermarket system in and save a pile of money and it even looks way better. I have a AVIC-N1 in another vehicle and it rocks! If anybody could give me feedback I would appreciate it. If I helped any body out well your welcome! and no worries.

See my post here in favor of the MMCS: rcpax, "Mitsubishi Outlander Navigation System Questions" #11, 24 Apr 2007 10:25 pm

Well, you always have the option to get non OEM Navi, but will it fit in the 07 Outlander?
  • susieq6susieq6 Member Posts: 7
We have the same problem with our brand new Outlander. Dearler said they have never heard there was any type of problem and didn't even check it out.

Did anyone with the radio problem find a fix yet? I will buy mine when they are done with this issue.
  • bobsmith123bobsmith123 Member Posts: 6
My dealer doesn’t have the model I want on the lot with factory installed navi. They say they can take an XLS they have in stock and add it at the dealer. Does anyone know if there are any differences between the factory installed unit and the dealer installed “accessory navigation package”? Should I agree to this or order a vehicle from the factory with the navi installed?
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
You should probably wait or have the dealer do a dealerswap. That dealer installed Navi might work totally the same as factory installed ones, but it will cost as much as 1.5 to 2x what you'd pay for the factory option, plus labor and install costs. He just want to get more money from you.
  • chelentanochelentano Member Posts: 634
Well, there is known invoice price for navigation package: $1,575. Normaly you can get all these packages at invoice price, though normally packages are already factory installed, meaning labor is already build-in the price. So, if your dealer can install it at invoice price $1,575, you can go for it.

Update; Mitsubishi has installed a new "fixed" radio in my Outlander to see if it fixes the problem. I'm apparently part of a small trial program to see if they have truly isolated the problem. I'm suppose to report back in a week to let them know if it is fixed. So far, after four days, I have had no problems. Radio sounds great.

    Great Spaceman210,
I have been noticing the problem more by the day.
Hope this works, keep us in the loop.

Well actually auto lock and fob can be programmed by the dealer using the scan tool MB991958 if you don't have the navigation system (MMCS).

These are the functionality that u are looking for:

    DOOR UNLOCK MODE (Options)
(1)All doors unlock: All the doors are unlocked when the driver's side door is unlocked.
(2)Dr door unlock: Only the driver's side door is unlocked when the driver's side door is unlocked. (default)

KOS AUTO LOCK "auto lock function"(Options)
    (1)Enable: No function (default)
    (2)Disable: With function

A list of programmable alarm functions:

    KOS auto lock
    Fob out of car
    KOS feature
    KOS unlock disable time
  • bodble2bodble2 Member Posts: 4,514
    Thanks! That's quite a list!

What are these & what do they do: "Hazard answer back"; "Horn chirp by RKE"; "Tone alarm answer back"?
  • phaserkbphaserkb Member Posts: 4
    Hazard answer back (options)

(2)LOCK: Flashes once, UNLOCK: No flash
(3)LOCK: No flash, UNLOCK: Flash twice

Re: Hazard answer back. when programmed to flash for UNLOCK, does it only do so (ie. flash) IF the vehicle is locked to begin with?

    Thanks again!

(I don't own an Outlander, hence all the questions, even though some are no doubt discussed in the manual)
  • phaserkbphaserkb Member Posts: 4
yep, just as described in the options
  • bodble2bodble2 Member Posts: 4,514
Ok. Just to make sure I understand you correctly, let's say, for example, setting is programmed to flash once to UNLOCK. Vehicle is locked. I press key fob to unlock. It will flash once, but no further flashes no matter how many more times I press the unlock button on the key fob. But if the vehicle is unlocked (ie. never locked to begin with) then no flash at all when unlock button is pressed?

    Thanks for your patience!! :)
  • phaserkbphaserkb Member Posts: 4
    lol, no problem...

The answer is No. If the setting is programmed to flash once for UNLOCK and no flash for LOCK every time you press the UNLOCK button or UNLOCK fob it will flash once and every time you press the LOCK it will no flash.

I went to the dealer today for a test drive. The answer, according to the dealer, is that the satellite radio does not work in the dealer installed unit. This is because the satellite antenna is only installed at the factory on factory navigation models.
  • ctgradyctgrady Member Posts: 9
they installed a new radio in my outlander today. I have been fighting this since January. I would goto to your dealer and let them know others are getting theirs replaced right now.
  • toomanyfumestoomanyfumes Member Posts: 1,019
I have the Rockford/Fosgate system. My volume doesn't change with the vehicles speed. I went into the menu and chose SCV On. Is there anything else I should be doing? My wife has complained about the stations cutting out but I have just been listening to Satellite, so I haven't noticed.

Were the issues of poor reception fixed in the new unit? Did it come with new menu or features? Specifically RDS reception. The UK Outlander, and presumably AU and others, have RDS enabled. I am perplexed why the US Outlanders didn't have this feature in the FM Radio. Were we left out?

I can't get the NAV to give me the essential poi's, like Home Depot or Staples. Any suggestions, or do I have to always have the addresses with me??
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
I think NAVTEQ left out all dept stores as POI's, to include stores such as Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. All they have are restaurants, hotels, and even Mitsubishi dealerships.
  • ny_outlanderny_outlander Member Posts: 16
Yeah, for the price, I'd prefer a Garmin. I don't just plan to use it for the scenic trips and you figure if it takes up 25gb of the 30gb harddrive, it should be more useful for the every day. Wish I could add the more useful POI's.
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
It's a 2005 map loaded in the current Outlanders. Maybe on the next upgrade DVD (or CD) they will add more POIs, better GUI, more functionality to the MMCS media player, whenever that comes out. And I hope the Gracenote Update is in that disc too because the current database is fast getting obsolete.
  • jsleuteljsleutel Member Posts: 1
Has anyone done the free update from Gracenote CDDB? I have been to their site but have not found the link.
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
I have yet to see a "free" CDDB update CD/DVD, or even a download link.
  • ny_outlanderny_outlander Member Posts: 16
Ahh, I expected the GPS to be better. I'd suggest everyone save their 2G's and get a top of the line Garmin for $700 and take it with you to Europe. It's better and way smaller with pictures and MP3's too, not this CD copying thing. What a waste of my money.

what part of the world do you live in. I call my Mitsu dealer and they told me I am on the list for the test radio. they have not received any of them yet.

Glad to find this thread as I am having the same issue with my brand new outlander. Went to the dealer with a printout of this thread. Service located a technical bulletin with a reference number of TT-136-54-002. It is dated April 2007 and states that the problem is due to "a calibration issue with the tuner inside the radio. This issue is currently under investigation by the Product Support Center. Do not replace radios for this condition at this time. Dealers will be advised once a solution is available." As such, my dealer told me there is nothing that can be done at this point until further notice. If anyone is aware of further notice or if this bulletin has been updated, please let us know.

Does anyone know if Mitsubishi uses Sirfstar III chip in their Nav system? Or what kind of GPS chip are they using if it is not the Sirfstar?
  • bobsmith123bobsmith123 Member Posts: 6
I love the convenience of the FAST key, it was one of the reasons I chose the Outlander. I have one issue that is obviously a problem with me and not with the system. I am so used to not having to do anything to unlock or start the car now that I forget to press the lock button when leaving the car. I have left it unlocked twice now. Is it possible to program the system to automatically lock the car when the FAST key goes out of range? If you turn off the ignition, then open the door and walk away with the key in your pocket it would be great to be able to have the car automatically lock the doors after 30 seconds or something.

There are options in the menu for auto relock and auto relock time, but after reading the manual I think that takes effect if you unlock the car by touching the handle or using the button on the key and then do not open any door within the time period.

Does anyone know if there is a FAST key out of range lock function?
  • bodble2bodble2 Member Posts: 4,514
The feature you're looking for is passive locking/arming. Some systems, and not necessarily keyless ignition systems, can do that. I know Honda's dealer-installed systems can be programmed for passive arming. I believe Infiniti's and Corvette's keyless systems will lock and arm automatically when you walk out of range. So the technology is there. You may want to ask your dealer, or contact Mitsubishi corporate, to ask whether you can do that for the Outlander.
  • chelentanochelentano Member Posts: 634
Was it the phaserkb, who has already confirmed, that autolock function is in fact available: his post
  • bodble2bodble2 Member Posts: 4,514
Wasn't sure if phaserkb was referring to auto-relock (unlock but don't open any door), or auto-lock (park car, exit and walk away).
  • chelentanochelentano Member Posts: 634
"unlock but don't open any door"

    - if you are outside with the fob and you unlock, autolock could relock, as long as you are more then a couple of feet away

    - if the fob is inside, it should not auto-relock under any surcubstances to avoid lockout...

"...as long as you are more then a couple of feet away"

If the auto-relock feature is a function of the distance between the car and the fob, then one would think that the system should be able to be programmed to auto-lock the way bobsmith would like it to.

    Hello all,
    I also have this Radio clarity problem with my Outie since I got it back in may 07. I checked with Mitsubishi Canada (I'm in Montreal) yesterday and asked them about the TT-136-54-002 bulletin that been running around since april 07. I was told that TT-136-54-002 is in fact what Mitsubishi calls a "Tech Talk" ticket. It has not yet reached the Technical Bulletin stage yet. It will when the peeps working on the Radio clarity issue will find a solution. The Tech Talk was issued to dealers to warned them as to not try to fix the problem by either;
Changing the radio in the dash
    Changing the antennae
Changing the AM/FM modulator located in the roof under the antennae

Apparently, none of the above solutions were successful to have the issue corrected so far and will result in a waste of time/money from both the customer and the dealer. So, there we have it...We gotta wait until Mitsubishi Motors finds the fix and release the official Tech bulletin. Until then, if you are experiencing this issue it will not hurt to call your dealer or Mitsubishi (Can or US) to let them know about it.

    Cheers

Marrigo, what type of radio do you have in your car? The reason I'm asking is that I just got off the phone with Mitsu Canada and the gentleman I was talking to said the Mitsu is only working on the Rockford Fosgate radios.
I have the same issue with my base (single CD) unit, which it seems that it's not being addressed by Mitsu. Anyone else having the problem with the non-Rockford Fosgate radio?
  • spaceman210spaceman210 Member Posts: 50
Most interesting - that would eliminate the amp. Someone with the tech manuals - is any active component left that has not been already changed out, and yet is in common with the base unit? I don't know what would be left other than speakers and harnesses.

    Hello!
You mention a Backup Camera option for the NAV display. Can you point me to this information? I don't seem to have any dealer support on finding this option and I want very much to install this feature in my 07 Outlander.
    Thanks
    Howard
  • rcpaxrcpax Member Posts: 580
The backup camera is a "hack". Meaning, your dealer doesn't do this kind of stuff. This option is only officially available in Japan, and maybe in Europe for some of the Outlander derivatives branded as Citroen and Peugeot. Doing this kind of stuff will void your warranty for your MMCS, and probably a few other things.

But if you're still interested in doing it, here goes: http://www.mitsubishiforum.com/m_139348/tm.htm
  • marrigo13marrigo13 Member Posts: 15
Sorry for the dely in reply. I also had the base single CD unit. They replaced it and now everyhting is fine. Sounds like the person you talked to is mis-informed.
  • dodo2dodo2 Member Posts: 496
marrigo13 - thanks for the update. Is your case closed meaning that Mitsu has identified the problem and found the fix, therefore it will be a TSB?
Have you dealt with Mitsubishi US directly, or the dealership only?
If the Mitsu Canada does not have accurate information on this issue at this point doesn't concern me as long as they receive the final TSB from Mitsu sometime in the near future. I will follow up with Mitsu Canada one of these days, but if I can provide them with some updated info from you it would be helpful.
