I'm in the market for a Xover with 3rd row seating. I'm choosing between the new RAV4 and new Sta Fe, also being considered are the Pilot and Highlander but since they're up for redesign early 2008 or longer, they're not my front runners. What I'm interested in is the dimension or the complete specs for the Sta Fe and possibly an interior photo showing the 3rd row seat. Thanks Mike!
This and this are the only shots that I have of the third-row where it's fairly visible -- I'll post better images once they become available (sometime in the next week or two). According to one source, the third-row provides about 4" more legroom than the B9 Tribeca -- allowing it to hold adults for brief outings. Do note that the 3rd-row seats in the new RAV4 are very small (check this out -- the second-row is slid forward quite a bit).
The only specifications I have are basic and unconfirmed -- though seemingly realistic and widely rumored. Here they are: Length: 4675 mm (184.1 in) Width: 1890 mm (74.4 in) Height: 1725 mm (67.9 in) Wheelbase: 2700 mm (106.3 in)
So basically, with the exception of 2.5 inches in width, it casts a shadow about the same size as a Toyota Highlander. It will undoubtedly be a touch roomier, however.
If you have the RAV4's dimension figures to confirm that then by all means post it here. Otherwise, keep your pot shots to yourself because I want an objective discussion.
Don't need specs, just look at the picture. The seat cushion is a full 2-3 inches from the ground. It's like sitting on the floor. That's one thing you never find in the specs; seat cushion height.
Mike, thanks for the CM specs. A 153 hp diesel....That could be interesting...
I got it. Youre right the seat cushion is about 3-4 inches from the floor. Only 7 year old kids can seat on that. Do you guys have a good pic of Hyundai's 3rd row seat?
Not yet but from the picture posted by Mike from outside the rear of the Santa Fe, the 3rd row seat back looks dangerously close to the rear hatch; hence my comment about safety back there.
That's actually not the interior of the CM: this shot was taken from the back of a current generation KDM Santa Fe (SM). If you go to the official Korean website, you can match the head restraints, interior trim, and even the seat upholstery pattern. The color palette is legit, though -- thanks for posting that, kguykmh. I suppose it's showing three interior color schemes? WK = black, J4 = gray, and J9 = beige... maybe? :confuse:
Though grainy, a composite, and a KDM unit, this is the first official interior shot. The interior theme is black with red piping (which we won't get in North America -- that along with the lighter colored faux wood trim). Cheers!
"How about the nav and auto climate control--are those coming to the U.S.?"
Well, the short answers? Sort of and absolutely. :shades:
Initially, you will only be able to obtain the navigation system through your dealer -- it's made by Hyundai-owned Mobis and marketed under the Eclipse brand.
As for the automatic temperature control, it will be available on the GLS trim (called SE?) and standard on the Limited. It also incorporates a smog-sensing Air Quality System (AQS) -- which basically detects external pollutants and automatically recirculates the air inside the cabin.
"Look at that HUGE center console!"
Heck yes!
"And do you suppose there's a tuning button on the steering wheel--to make up for the Sonata? "
That, I don't know. :confuse: Most of the KDM vehicles we've seen seem to, but we'll just have to wait and see on that one. Keep those fingers crossed!
If I'm not mistaken, the temperature control read-out seen in the first shot seems to indicate that the vehicle will offer a rear-seat (2nd-row) climate zone of sorts. That would be... cool. :P Mike
Thank you for your information about new Santa FE.
I didn't trust Korean Car before. But after my father have bought a new Tucson and 38000km have ran for a year. I have changed my mine and really trust their growth of car design. I will buy New Santa FE next year. Unfortunaly, our area ( Hong Kong ) marketing launch held on May 2006.
Do you have more interior photos of 3 row and the 3rd seater.
I do not at this time have any additional shots of the Santa Fe's 3rd-row seat to share, but I will definitely post them here once they become available. :shades:
The following information is from a couple of sources; I can't confirm any of it at this time:
* Standard 3rd-row seats will be marketed as "Magic Folding"
* US advertising launch date set for 1 July 2006
* Trims will be GLS, SE, and Limited
* GLS comes with a new 2.7-liter CVVT V6 standard, while the SE and Limited get the 3.3-liter CVVT V6. Don't freak-out yet, though: horsepower and torque ratings haven't been released, and may be higher than expected. Hyundai hasn't revealed whether or not the 2.7 is the Delta-II or an all-new engine. One source claims that it's the latter (2.7 = ~220hp) and that the 3.3 is re-tuned to ~240-250hp. The 3.8-liter CVVT V6 will be standard on the larger SUV (EN), but not available --at least initially-- on the Santa Fe.
* Interior space is greater than Toyota Highlander
* 110-volt auxiliary power outlet will be standard
* A rear-seat DVD entertainment system will also be standard
LOL! No, but the 3.8 will likely be fairly close to 300-hp. Hyundai has developed a 4.6-liter DOHC V8, but they haven't announced yet where it will make its debut. I assume the foremost reason for choosing the smaller engines has much to do with recent fuel prices. If the cost of gas stabilizes (or better, drops further), I can see them easily shifting to the larger powertrains. No 13-mpg Hemi, though.
Yeah, but that's only if the engine mentioned at the dealer meeting is the rumored all-new powertrain and not the Delta II -- which generates about 197-hp (the Delta [I] is good for 170-173hp and 178-181 lb ft, depending on tuning).
"Any quesstimate on what the torque numbers might be? Also on the 3.3?"
I really don't have any idea. I suppose I can venture some guesses, though, but please don't take the following numbers seriously: I'll say 212-lb ft for the "all-new" 2.7 V6, 190-lb ft as an estimate for the Delta II, and between 231- and 242-lb ft for the "re-tuned" 3.3 Lambda. On the other hand, they may lean more toward torque than horsepower, so the latter may stay in the 230-240hp range, while torque could climb well North of 240-lb ft (the engine's 235hp and 226-lb ft as it sits in the Sonata). We'll probably have to to wait until January to know for sure, as the KDM vehicle will bow soley as a diesel. (BTW, the KDM Santa Fe officially debuts in only three days [22 Nov 2005], so I expect some great information and images over the next week.)
After searching for further powertrain information, I found that Hyundai is offering the Grandeur (in Korea; it's called Azera here in the States) with a 2.7-liter CVVT DOHC Mu V6, generating about 194-hp @ 6000 and 184-lb ft of torque @ 4200. I assume this to be the KDM-spec "Delta II."
Well, the advertisement launch date is the 1st of July, but I expect that the vehicle will be available in fairly limited numbers in June. As for pricing, $24K-$30K would probably be about right -- the "EN" will take the upper-market slot.
At least the seat cushion is high from the floor. But I'm still concerned that the seat back is very close to the rear hatch. Well for infrequent use it could do.
I really like everything I saw. I think they have a winner.
The interior of the '07 Santa Fe is very well designed and makes it looks so much more expensive than it will be priced. The exterior is just as sweet. It wouldn't surprise me if we see some 'Santa Fe-like' interior tweaks for Sonata sometime in '06. Highlander, Pilot watch out!
my off-the-wall questions...it appears that the Tucson was created to replace the Santa Fe as a small SUV, while the Santa Fe was to be redesigned as an Explorer-sized midsize SUV...
Why didn't they just leave the Santa Fe as it is, and come out with a new midsize SUV called the Tucson???
Doesm't it seem like a lot of shuffling of models just to accomplish what a midsized Tucson could have been???
