Will there be an option package that has front power seats as an option, or at least a driver's power seat as an option, preferably with an adjustable (maybe even a power adjustable) lumbar support???
While I could deal with a manual seat adjustment, I could never bear with a seat that has no adjustable lumbar support, as seats w/o them just offer no support to my aging lower back...my Sable had no support, and after 45 min of driving, I felt 50 years older...
1st choice: power seat, power adj lumbar
2nd choice: power seat, manual adj lumbar
3rd choice: manual seat, manual adj lumbar
unacceptable: manual seat, no adj lumbar
Please tell me that my first choice is available:):):)
Power Seat Controls
Active Head Restraints (standard)
Power-adjustable pedals
Integrated Memory System (this one may or may not be destined for the USDM)
Here's some great stuff, including a 360-degree exterior view and color palette (you may have to press "F11" on your keyboard to see the entire thing -- including the ever-important navigation links).

Agreed. I am extremely impressed with this interior design. If only the Sonata had this....
Really, though, the Highlander when comparably equipped runs from $32K ($34K if DVD-ES is standard) to $39K, and the Pilot goes for $29K ($31K if DVD-ES is standard) to $37K, so even with the higher estimate, the Santa Fe's a much better deal.

My sentiments exactly rikid. As a matter of fact I'll go one step further based on reports I have heard about the testing of this vehicle the NVH (noise, vibration, handling)levels are on par with the Lexus RX330. This means we can look forward to a really sweet, quiet, smooth riding, vehicle.
The competition (Honda and Toyota) should be worried about this vehicle. Once we get some full test drive reviews we will get an even better idea about how really good the new Santa Fe is.
This looks like a home-run out-of-the-ball park hit for Hyundai!
Price....must skew towards the Rav as opposed to the Highlander
Gas mileage....also must be competetive with the Rav.
Also curious about the AWD system Hyundai uses...what type of system, how robust?
Although I realize they're only for occasional use (suits us perfectly), I'll want to compare 3rd-row (as well as the other two) seat comfort between the 2 vehicles.
Can't wait to see them both in person and see some comparisons.

The Santa Fe will use a new edition of the Borg-Warner electronic ITM-I™ variable fulltime all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, with a dash-mounted driver-selectable 4WD-lock button for a continuous 50/50 front & rear power-split. Different from the systems in the current Santa Fe, it's basically the same as what you'd find in the Acura MDX, Honda Pilot, and Hyundai Tucson.
Mike
If true this would be even better news by far and again as I've repeated before will mean it's Japanese rivals maybe in for some real competition from their Asian neighbor.
In additon to the "EN," the '08 production version of the Portico will very likely have a six-speed as well, but I don't know if the vehicle will sport the hybrid V6 engine/electric motor from the concept.
Mike
Do you have length, width, height???...I am comparing this to an Explorer in size, and I could not find any specs on that...
Altho, the remainder of the video was great...it is obvious that they are making this to be a great vehicle, I am just afraid it might be too small, especially with a previous poster comparing it to a Rav4...I thought this was to be a midsize SUV to compare with Explorer and Grand Cherokee/Commander while the Tucson took over the small size of the Santa Fe... please don't tell me I am wrong...
That is correct. On the 10-way power-adjustable seat, the lumbar "in" and "out" adjustments are counted separately; on the basic seat, it's "8-way adjustable with a manually-adjustable lumbar support."
It's a little silly, I know, but that's how they all do it.
Mike
The exterior measurements for the Santa Fe are on that site too, but they haven't posted interior dimensions. Here's the former (converted from the metric system):
Length (in.): 184.1
Width (in.): 74.4
Height, w/wo roof rack (in.): 70.7 / 67.9
Track, front/rear (in.): 63.6/63.8
Wheelbase (in.): 106.3
Ground Clearance (in.): 7.9
Tires: 235/65R17, 235/60R18
Curb Weight (KDM-spec, diesel): 3936-4200 lbs
So it's a slight touch larger overall than the Toyota Highlander and, though wider (especially the track width), it's not nearly as long as the Ford Explorer. In fact, again with the exception of width, the Ford is almost what's considered fullsize -- look for the '07 "EN" to be of similar length but meaningfully wider.
Mike
This is where it gets interesting for the whole 2.7L/3.3L arrangement: that is, based on mileage trends between the current and last-generation Sonata, Santa Fe, and Tucson, one would expect a Lambda 3.3L Santa Fe to get better highway mileage than a less-powerful Delta 2.7L Santa Fe! It wouldn't make any sense to place even a reworked 2.7 Delta V6 in the new model since, even improved, it would likely cost more in fuel and provide slower acceleration than the Lambda, as well as de-simplifying the manufacturing process to some extent. It's for this reason that I feel the 2.7L V6 must be an all-new engine. A consequence of this, however, is that I can't even begin to give you a guestimate of the fuel economy it may provide.
Anyway, here's what I'm guessing for a 3.3L set-up:
FWD,
city/highway = 19/28
AWD,
city/highway = 18/26
Please remember that they're purely guestimates, and should therefore be taken with a grain of salt.
Mike
I stated under Santa Fe advantages, "Standard cassette player, 8 speakers, & 2 tweeters w/sound system; 3-month XM Satellite Radio™ subscription." The base model will likely not come standard with a cassette player, as you can see in this image. There will still be either six or eight speakers, tweeters, etc. According to press releases from earlier in the year, XM Satellite Radio™ should be there as well.
Sorry about that!

If there's anything you'd like to know, or any type of image you'd like, just let me know and I'll see what I can do. Even if I don't have an answer (or can't "adequately speculate" about it), perhaps someone else will.

I don't know why they are making it differently.
Even car companies look like they don't know what consumer wants. Maybe, It's little bit tough to make it satisfied for all race and nations
First, there is still wide spread rumor in Korea that U.S. models are much more safer than domestic ones; some people believe that the thickness of body metal for U.S. models is much thicker, so much safer. I think this is not true today but suspect it might be true in '80 when Hyundai first exported it's car to U.S.
Secondly, for the same money Americans can buy more powerful car than in Korea. In korea, if you want to buy V6(3.3) Sonata 2006 model, it costs almost 33K. The most popular sonata in Korea is having 2.0 engine.
Hope it helps
My wife has a 05 Elantra GT,and I love the car but it is very susceptible to dents.I already taken it in for parking lot dents,at $75 a pop.
I really like the 07 Santa Fe but think it also will dent easily.
The body shop person who does my repairs also agree's.He thinks there is some sort of different alloy in Hyundai's metal.
I just got my Santa Fe, so sadly I will not be able to upgrade any time soon.
I dont see squeezing anyone in the 3rd row, but I LOVE that cargo area!
Very nice photos of new Santa Fe 2007.
But I did not find the link to one of the official Korean Hyundai internet side on this forum.
Here is the link where you can see the video presentation and also the official catalogue of exterior and interior of this really stylish SUV ! :P

Don't worry, that now seems to be false information: it should at least be available, if not standard. What I don't know is what type of wood trim we'll be getting. We've seen maple on the leather-trimmed units and cherry on most of the base models -- we could be getting one or the other, both, or neither in the US (burled walnut is something of a possibility, as is aluminum or some other metallic material for gray- &/or black-themed interiors).
I'm sorry I don't know more about the USDM version. The bad news: unless we get lucky and a willing individual (with a camera) obtains access to a pre-production HMMA unit, we'll likely have to wait until Detroit to find this stuff out for sure. The good news: we only have to wait a month at the most.
