If best-selling equals best, I guess "Disco Duck" is a better record than any number of concurrent tunes.
The "Me Too, Me Too" only happens when a car is desirable AND a good deal....oh, and doesn't break down!
I did see a 2013 'Bu yesterday and it's far more appealing than the photos.

I don't believe I'd even consider a '13 Malibu. Nice-looking, but too tight in the back seat.
http://www.thecarconnection.com/news/1078210_toyota-recalling-2006-2011-rav4-201- 0-lexus-hs-250h-for-rear-suspension-failure
While I am certain some will say, 'that doesn't belong here', discussions about any other aspect of competing cars show up here, so recalls should as well.
Does the 2013 Malibu have hard plastic on the front seatbacks? The plastic on the seatbacks of the 2008-2012 was one of my biggest complaints. Even though it had that hollowed-out area for your knees, it was too low for me, so I couldn't fit comfortably.
If I were shopping for a car, I think I'd at least check out the Malibu,although I'd wait for the 2.5, instead of messing around with the Eco stuff.
I'm a short guy with short legs, but to me, the back seat of our '11 Malibu seems cavernous! I know you're a tall guy.
I saw that headline a few days ago and was wondering when I would see it posted in the GM forum.....
Things are just so predictable around here!
Yep, only GM's recalls matter at all! LOL
Anything else about any other manufacturer is OK to post here.
Heck, one (in)famous poster repeatedly was bringing up 1971 GM recalls when we were discussing current Toyota recalls!
Yep, certainly is predictable around here.
Understatement of the week!
Just like my aunt used to say about daily soap operas, you can miss 3 months of shows, then start watching again... and realize you've missed...nothing.
LOL!
On another note, it seems that the new Malibu is not a raging hit. Too bad, as family sized sedans are a huge part of the market. GM really needs to get competitive in areas of the market other than big trucks and SUVs, as the next recession or gas spike won't be kind.

The Luxury List is a clear victory and it ain't Caddy. :shades:

THAT explains the lost decades at GM better than I ever could! Excellent !

Speaking of luxury, I wonder if anyone will buy that upcoming super duper loaded Optima variant. Hitting the 35K+ field is tough.
Especially for a company with a long history of cheaply built cars with bad reputations for longevity no matter how much lipstick they put on the pig.
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
Optima is probably the best Kia ever, and is likely a fine car...but that new limited model is reaching, IMO.
Yeah, shame they couldn't just wake up in bed next to Suzanne Pleshette, and realize that the past couple decades were just a bad dream!
That's funny, because to me you've perfectly described the old GM. The difference is that both Kia and GM are trying hard to reverse their past misfortunes. It will be interesting to see how each one does. I would say that the Optima looks better to me than the Malibu, but obviously GM still has a much fuller product line with much better SUVs and trucks.
The superior product is defined by it's predecessor:
2010 Optima Sales = 27,382
2011 Optima Sales = 84,590
2012 Optima Sales YTD June 2012 = 86,475
The Malibu is averaging over 25K per month so it's still the king in volume "me too" sales.
The Optima is making it's mark. The jury is out on the 35K model, however.

even the biggest one on list is rated 34 hwy with a 2.5 L
Too bad, as you'll never see how, like my pro-Ford coworker admitted, it is a quieter car on the highway than the same generation Civic and Matrix.
The Optima sucks. I hate it. It's awful. Stinks.
And I've never sat in or driven one.
Hey, I fit in here now!!
Wow!
Actually, I would never make such a stupid statement. I'll leave that to you guys.
Nor would I buy a car with a radical, aggressive union doing the building.
There. That takes care of Hykia.
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
I'm also intrigued by the new Impala.
I wasn't sure about that downward dip in the rear door, but it could be argued that it's similar to the 'hippy' (not 'hippie') dip in '65-68 Impalas.
The problem is you have to remove the Genesis coupe from that total. So HyunKia's total luxury car sales is probably under 20k.
That would put them at the bottom of this list:
July 2012 YTD
Mercedes = 159,384
BMW = 147,801
Lexus = 126,367
Acura = 85,761
Audi = 76,865
Cadillac = 76,229
HyunKia = 20k or so
It takes a while to crack the lux segment, even for brands on a roll.
That's kind of like being the "Prettiest Manatee Ever" or the "Most Glamourous Bag Lady."

GM paid 320 million euros ... worth 146 million euros
:sick:
2347 Equus in 7 months, hard to believe. Dealers or rabidly proud Korean expats maybe.
I don't see Kia making a Phaeton successor for some time, if ever. Although it never ceases to amuse me that the supposed value brand has much of the superior design compared to the bigger brand.

Why else would they abandon the name????????????? Because it was the best US car ever made?

That takes care of GM and Chrysler for you, also. :P

Why did the Tercel name become discontinued and the Yaris (nice name, sheesh, although I guess better than 'Fit') take its place in the lineup? And everyone on this board knows that the Cruze did not take the place of the Cobalt...it is most definitely a step up in price and features from the Cobalt.
Like I'd ever take model name into account when buying a new car. Duh.
GM July sales rise 15 percent (Detroit News)
("The whole headline is GM sells nearly 200K cars in China as July sales rise 15 percent".)
