I had a similar deal like that with an agreed upon price over invoice. But then at the last minute, they wanted to charge $599 doc. fee.
If you want to avoid a confrontation, I suggest you get OUT THE DOOR pricing before you go in, or at least know whats the max you will pay out the door.
i almost exclusively use that station and the exit 12 Exxon. you're probably right HD , they seem 20-30 cents less per gallon than anywhere else. funny huh. honestly i dont think about gas prices much. I travel a lot and Americans have no idea how high prices could be. We are much less than Europe. I was just in Monte Carlos and it would almost cost 2x to fill the Seq there... although I did see a lot of "Smart" cars, which could fit inside our Seqs with 2nd and 3rd row seats down ! Moreover oil here is not about supply , its about the speculators and the low dollar anyway. no worries.
Mack - my local dealer finally moved on his pricing.
I am getting a Platinum with Pyrite Mica and Red Rock Interior with option package "A" (EY Rear Entertainment, CK Cold Kit, RL Daytime Running Lights). Dealer invoice $52,539 which includes destination, TDA gas, holdback, financial reserve. Plus $250 over invoice.
I am still confused as to why my dealer has a TDA of $962 while others have only a TDA of $500. Can anyone explain the varying TDA?
PIO are as follows: Z1 Preferred Accessory Package ($240 dealer cost) P7 Satellite Radio XM ($359 dealer cost) 8E Simulated Wood Dash ($215 dealer cost)

I don't know if my numbers help but here they are. I also purchased a Platinum Sequoia with similar options. My price was $1000 over dealer invoice and the final price before taxes, title and registration was $53,424. Here's my breakdown of the Dealer invoice price on my Platinum Sequoia from the manufacturer's vehicle sheet: Vehicle $47,816 Rear Entertainment $1336 Cold kit $80 DRL on/off $32 Preferred Accessories (mats, door sill protector, F/A kit, cargo net) $232 Wheel locks $65
The difference in TDA could be that they are swapping allocation from another dealer outside their region. That's the only explanation I can see. Have them print out the vehicle inquiry report and look at the right upper hand corner where it says: Wholesale dealer, and under that it will show the selling dealer, this will be a 5 digit code i.e. 34589. Find out what your dealer code is and see if they match. If not then it's an out of region allocation swap. Mack
The dealer that said they could get a Pyrite Mica with Red Rock Interior Sequoia called Toyota and was told that they are not going to make that combination. It seems to be available on the Toyota website but Toyota will not make it. Has anyone else heard of this response? Does that make sense that Toyota would not make a color combo that a dealer has a buyer for? My wife really wants the Pyrite Mica/RedRock combo. Is there any other way to get Toyota to make it?
2 weeks ago, I leased a 2008 2WD Sequoia Limited in Texas - 20inch wheels, power slide moonroof, power tailgate, rear spoiler, DRL, and DVD player ($51,240 MSRP, negotiated rate of $44,800) - 36 months, 12K miles/year, 0 down, $732/mo, $25,260 residual.
I was told I am getting three benefits while leasing, 2K owners loyalty (I owned a Sienna before this one), sales tax credit and special money factor (2.75%)
How do I figure out if this was a good deal or not?
Looks like you made out great! $$6440.00 off MSRP is really excellent. The residual is good in case you want to buy the vehicle out after the lease is up. But the best part is that your wife loves it. When mama's happy, everybody's happy! Enjoy and congrats! Mack

Your dealer is not being entirely forthcoming. I just checked the inventory for available 4x4 Platinums in the Southeast Toyota (SET) region and they have one available for sale on 5/06/08.
This being said, this is an unusual combination and of the 40 Platinum 4x4s listed on the SET inventory, there was only one. At one point I was looking at the same combo, but my wife ultimately decided that she wanted the Frost Pearl. All I can say is be prepared to wait. What I've learned through this process is the waiting can be agonizing because of the lack of visibility from the manufacturer. If you are adamant on that combo, your dealer can preference the vehicle every 15 days and the manufacturer announces allocations on the first Thursday of each month. So, what happens is you wait a month at a time and hope that your dealer receives the allocation they have preferenced. It is also my understanding that the dealer can special order a vehicle, however, you could be waiting months and dealers hate doing this because it eats up one of their allocation spots. With $250 over invoice, I'll lay a bet your dealer will do anything to not special order a vehicle for you. If you were paying close to MSRP, story might be different.
Buying a Toyota is a nightware because of the options and the distributor chains, especially when an independent distributor such as Gulf States of South east is involved. I've known people who were so put off by their inability to obtain a vehicle in a configuration they wanted, that they just walked over to the Honda dealership, picked between DX, LX & EX, with NAV or without NAV and were done.
Attached is a print screen from the SET inventory site. Note that the dealer listed is not the correct dealer. The way the site works is you can first see the inventory of your particular dealer. If the car is not available, then you can select "All in the SET region" and it gives you the full inventory, but leaves the dealer name unchanged, so in reality this vehicle is not being allocated to this dealer, but to some other dealer.
Dealer exchanges from different regions can be done although most dealers don't like to. Unless the GM at your local Toyota dealer knows a GM from the SET region it can be done. Otherwise you may have to travel down there to get it. Mack :shades:
I am considering the purchase of a Sequoia in the SET region (I am in the CAT region). There are some options on the SET region vehicle that I am not familiar with. Does anyone know the dealer cost for the following options:
Toyoguard Plus $699 EH30 Rear Entertainment System $1999 (in headrests) TW20 Window Tint $159 TG10 Color Keyed Fender Flares $699
and how about the SET TDA? Is it $500?
and what are the "dealer Fees" of $499? Is this just extra $ for the dealer??
Any other info regarding SET dealers and how they work is appreciated.
The vehicle I am looking at has the EH30: Rear Entertainment System which is supposedly a system with the screens in the back of the passenger and driver headrest.
First question - where is the "head unit" or the part into which you put the DVD?
Second question - Does this unit 100% integrate with the front system - the same as a factory installed entertainment system? Does everything operate properly??
Third question - if the screens go on the back of the headrests, how do they do that? Do they just "stick" them onto the back of the headrests or are they countersunk into the headrest?
Thank you for that information!! A couple more questions -
Is there anyway to find out what dealer is getting that vehicle? If not, do you recommend a dealer that you used?
Do you know if a dealer in CAT (Pennsylvania) can get that vehicle from the dealer in the SET?
Only way to find out which dealer has that particular vehicle is by trial and error. Start with dealers in and around the major metropolis' in the Southeast states. When I was trying to determine the SET inventory, it took me about 2 hours to determine which dealers stocked which Platinum vehicles.
Don't know about intra-region trades. Again, at the price you're talking about, it doesn't leave a whole lot of margin for the dealers to play with in order to facilitate a trade.

There is no headunit part, the DVD loads into a slot on the top of the player itself. The controls are behind the screen that flips down. Unit is not a factory Toyota unit, it is made by a Company that port installs for SET, called Invision Industries. Check out their website for additional details - Invisionindustries
There is no integration with the factory NAV. Sound is through either the wireless headsets or through FM modulation, there is no hard connection to the factory audio system.
The headrests are replaced with like ones that have the unit built into them. From what I understand the match is supposed to be spot on with the factory leather. Again, check out their website.
No I don't. I got a great price, but frankly, was treated like complete crap throughout the process -- no visibility on real delivery date, extremely rude sales manager, "half truths" on multiple occasions. I was able to take the "pressure" in order to lock in the most competitive deal in my local area. In hindsight, not sure I'd go through it again....wasn't worth the grey hairs that have sprouted up since.
Plan to pay them back with the same coin on their CSI service. Don't want to reveal the name of the dealer.
You are going into the dark side of Toyota dealers. SET is privately owned and they do what they want to the vehicles they get from Toyota. As you can already see by the "options" they've slapped on this Sequoia. Toyoguard is nothing more than an overpriced can of wax. You'll find it in the glove compartment. Supposedly it's the paint sealant that's applied at the port and you get a can of it for subsequent applications. Window tint? It already has the factory window tint. As far as TDA they have another name for it since they don't use Toyota's advertising. They do have a whopping $699.00 Admin fee that will show up on their invoice. The screens for the dvd system are recessed into the headrests. There's several after market systems that are installed that way. You can check them out at link title The fender flares are also another SET exclusive. They did the same thing with the Tundra. The look good and will probably enhance the looks of the new Sequoia. Good luck, you will need it. Mack :shades:

Agree 100% with everything Mack has said. Going forward if I am ever in the market for another Toyota I will probably strong considering going to Virginia to buy outside SET.
With re: to the fender flairs, I don't think they look nice on the Sequoia. They don't flow well with the body lines and look like an add on. Additionally the black rubber strip on the top of the fender flairs stand out against the body color, making them look like an afterthought. Also saw one vehicle on the lot (slate) where the paint on the fender flairs didn't quite match the body color, was clearly visibly off in direct sunlight.
Hate to break it to you, but your chances of securing this particular vehicle at the price you mentioned earlier, it probably slim to non. For your sake, I'd love to be proved wrong.
Select your model and then select price w/options on the left hand side.
SET seems to be some kind of scam. I have negotiated 1K over invoice with a dealer on a model with the color/options I want. I gave them 14 weeks to get it or the deal is off. I hope the 14 weeks expires because I think I can do better with the current state of the economy. Problem is they can't seem to come up with the options I require on an SR5 2WD (Pyrite Mica, Leather, Rear Load Leveling Suspension and Tow Package).
I don't know what in the world Toyo is thinking by not allowing you to view actual dealer inventory in SET. I have found the vehicle I want 5 times and the funny thing is that it shows up at every SET dealer when you build your own. What are they thinking?
I realize SET garnishes some rediculous fees right off the top and IMO it's nuts. Why doesn't Toyo just show true dealer inventory?
What's CAT region? I am in Virginia and just checked www.buyatoyota.com, there is NO inventive for Sequoia. The previous 1.9% for 36 months expired on 04/30. I bet on the wrong side
I searched website www.buyatoyota.com. It lists incentives for other models (Camry, Thundra, etc) and they all will expire on 06/02, so obviously Toyota already updated their website for May incentives. but no Sequoia.
I am in New England, and found this on buyatoyota.com, avail thru 6/01:
0% financing on 24, 36, or 60 months, all sequoia trims
up to 4000 cash back for current toyota owners on sr5 and limited
Lease a new 2008 Toyota Sequoia SR5 4x4 for just $439.00 a month. 36-month closed end lease on Sequoia model # 7919. $1999.00 due at signing which includes first month’s payment of $439.00, acquisition fee of $550.00, customer capitalized cost reduction of $1,010.00, and security deposit of $0 with the following optional equipment: Fifty state emissions, cold weather package, towing prep package, leather package, fog lights, moon roof, running boards, rear spoiler, daytime running lights and JBL Premium sound. $39,692.00 adjusted capitalized cost assumes dealer participation, which may vary. MSRP $46,270.00 includes destination charge. 36 base monthly payments total $15,804.00. Your payment may vary depending on final price. Base monthly payments of $439.00 does not include tax. This comes out to $150 over invoice, a 52.4% residual and .00017 mf = 0.48% APR - great lease deal!
Ok guys and gals, here's the real scoop on May incentives for Sequoia in CAT (va, pa, wv, de, nj) 0% FOR up to 60 months or $2000.00 cash back plus $2000.00 owner loyalty cash for current Toyota/Scion owners. Here's the kicker: EXCLUDES PLATINUM! :confuse:

Same deal in the SET. Platinum excluded from all offers (APR, cash back & Leases). Glad I locked in the April 0% for 24 mths offer on my Platinum.
They should be there tomorrow if not there already. Usually they are a day or two behind the dealers. We got ours this morning and I was surprised since we normally get them the second day of the month. I hope the rebates help since we are starting to run out of room to put new cars in. We are overstocked so much that employee parking spaces are now being taken up by new cars, our overflow lot is packed. If we don't have what you're looking for (other than a Pyrite red rock interior Platinum) then you don't need to buy a car! Mack
I talked with my local dealer at VA, and was told that I have two options in terms of the incentives:
1. 0% for 60 months. No case back or loyalty cash. 2. $2000 cash back, plus $2000 loyalty cash.
But, my understanding is that no matter I take the 0% APR or $2000 cash back, I am always eligible for the $2000 loyalty cash. But the dealer refuse to give my loyalty cash if I select 0% APR.
Do you know what's the real case? I prefer 0% APR but definitely don't want to lost $2000 loyalty cash.
They are right. It's either or. Just look at it this way. Figure out what the price for the 0% will be and what it will be with the 2k cash back and 2k loyalty rebate.
If you can get the vehicle for invoice less the 4k in rebates it may be better than the 0%. Sometimes what they will do is sell the vehicle for more if you opt for the 0%. The 0% financing doesn't do anything for the dealership. I believe they get $100.00 for doing the deal. OTOH with the rebates they get to keep them as most customers use them as cash down or to lower the price of the vehicle. Either way it usually comes out about the same in the end. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Mack
Like you said, through trial and error and was able to locate the dealer that had the Pyrite Mica with Red Rock interior Platinum that you identified for me. It was in Atlanta and now it's in my driveway in Pennsylvania. Your advice through this buying experience was greatly appreciated!!!
Deal was invoice plus $400 plus $699 dealer fee plus tax/title registration. 0% financing.
In my opinion and my wife's opinion, the Pyrite Mica and Red Rock is a great combination. We also like the wood dash. Fender flares look great as well - gives the vehicle nice defintion and a more "rugged appearance".
Wife has a nice new Mother's Day present! Thanks again!

Hey, hats off to you! You were able to get it done. My purchase was for the wife as well and she is very happy. Glad I could help. Sounds like you have a reasonable dealer that was willing to work with you.
As I said before, I wasn't a fan of the fender flairs, but hey, to each his own. My wife does like the wood dash kit. My thieving dealer was asking $787 for the wood dash kit. Told him to go to hell. Mack has mentioned it was available for somewhere in the high $200 range.
- Limited, 4WD - sticker price $52090 - deal price $45000 (before tax title tag dealer fee) - No DVD, No nevigation, - 20 inch wheels - sunroof - power back door - cold package - read spoiler - daytime running light - floor mat, cargo mat, door sill protector
I took the 0% for 60month instead of the $4000 cash back.
The only concern I have is it already has 127 miles on the meter when I bought, not sure why it has such high miles. Is it normal for such high test-driving miles? I test drive it and did not feel any problem, but you know, i am not a mechnical engineer .... While I guess it's already too late to ask this question since I already signed the deal.
Big thanks to Mack for the latest incentive. also thanks to HD for the experience on toyota nevigation (the reason why i did not ask for this option).
127 miles is nothing. I've sold vehicles with 200+ miles. Sometimes we have to exchange with other dealers so depending on where we go the mileage will vary. How long was the vehicle on the lot? It might have been test driven a few times and maybe taken overnight by a prospect. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. My first Camry had 45 miles on it. Mainly because it was a 5 speed and quite a few sales persons test drove it. My Toyota Van LE was fresh off the delivery truck. 1 mile on her. My first Toyota was an 81 Celica and I don't remember what the mileage was on that one. I was 22 years old and that new car smell just got to me.
Congratulations and enjoy your new Sequoia.! You will get many years of trouble free driving pleasure. Mack
The annual inspection sticker shows March, and the inventory sheet shows the invoice date Mid Feb. So I believe it had been on lot for a bit over for 2 months.
Another not sure thing is about the engine sound, I hear the engine becomes quite noisy when running around 45-50 MPH, giving me a kind of feeling that it's working overly hard to get up the speed. Never drive a V8 truck engine before, not sure whether it's normal.
The 5.7L V8 in the Sequoia is a monster for a half ton vehicle. Are you getting a nice throaty sound when you accelerate? Find a nice clear road where you can put the pedal to the metal and see if it feels like you said. Maack
I'm working on a deal for a 2wd limited but in the back of my mind really want a platinum. Most dealers will email a quote in the same range (around 45500 for a 49000 msrp limited). How much more room is there without the 2000 or 4000 rebate (I'd like to take advantage of the 0 percent)?
Also, tomlinson, how did you arrange 0 percent on a platinum? Do the dealers have authority to do that?
Comments

Window tint? It already has the factory window tint. As far as TDA they have another name for it since they don't use Toyota's advertising. They do have a whopping $699.00 Admin fee that will show up on their invoice.
The screens for the dvd system are recessed into the headrests. There's several after market systems that are installed that way. You can check them out at link title The fender flares are also another SET exclusive. They did the same thing with the Tundra. The look good and will probably enhance the looks of the new Sequoia. Good luck, you will need it.

Same deal in the SET. Platinum excluded from all offers (APR, cash back & Leases). Glad I locked in the April 0% for 24 mths offer on my Platinum.
I'm in VA but don't see any incentives for my zip code on the website www.buyatoyota.com. Can you point me to the right website? thanks.

I know it is too much to expect; but is there a precedence to reneogitate a car deal?
We can't predict the future. You own it now.

Many thanks!

- sticker price $52090
- deal price $45000 (before tax title tag dealer fee)
- No DVD, No nevigation,
- 20 inch wheels
- sunroof
- power back door
- cold package
- read spoiler
- daytime running light
- floor mat, cargo mat, door sill protector
I took the 0% for 60month instead of the $4000 cash back.
The only concern I have is it already has 127 miles on the meter when I bought, not sure why it has such high miles. Is it normal for such high test-driving miles? I test drive it and did not feel any problem, but you know, i am not a mechnical engineer .... While I guess it's already too late to ask this question since I already signed the deal.
Big thanks to Mack for the latest incentive. also thanks to HD for the experience on toyota nevigation (the reason why i did not ask for this option).
Mack
Another not sure thing is about the engine sound, I hear the engine becomes quite noisy when running around 45-50 MPH, giving me a kind of feeling that it's working overly hard to get up the speed. Never drive a V8 truck engine before, not sure whether it's normal.
