Ironically, it's not all about the money; call me strange, but it would really take away from my enjoyment of the car if I found out that I didn't get an excellent deal, especially since the EXs are not selling that well right now.
Also, can the $7k off be applied to a lease?

In order to get the EX-35 Journey (Premium, Luxe Elite, Wood trim, roof rails), in the same range payment wise I would have to be able to bargin around $2,000 under invoice. Do you think this is possible? I have read there is $4,000 in manufacturer to dealer money but I don't know if this can be used in conjunction with a lease.
I am responding to everyone today - can you give me a name of a dealer please? I don't know who to call for the best prices on a loaded EX. would appreciate your feedback too.
I can't give you salespeoples names as Edmunds policy forbids that but you should do well with those dealers.I bought in May & the deals are better now. Hope that helps!
One dealer I met said he was writing a book exposing the car dealership industry, and told me that they don't actually make the money on the car as much as on many other aspects of "the deal." So there is lots of room to negotiate, especially since they want to move these cars out with the '09s coming in, the the EXs have moved slowly due to a number of reasons.
I found someone to make a deal with about 50 miles away, but was willing to go as they were willing to make the deal I wanted. They pretended to have my car, but didn't really, tried to sell me others, but I knew there was one out there with my specs, so I told them, they looked it up, and it was about 75 miles away. They got it for me. I did let go of color choices, so it is good to have at least two combinations in mind.
I got the EX35 Journey with Premium, Tech, Nav, Wood, Rails & Bar, & Cargo Protector, Splash Guards $ 35,368. without TT&E. Platinum Silver w/ Stone/Maple Interior. The dealer suggestion at the Infiniti web site for this same car is $ 43,675.
Originally I wanted the AWD, but made the decision that if I wanted this car I would only pay under 40k for it. Also, it is much heavier with AWD and uses more gas. The car is so powerful, unless you have to deal with snow, it is something that is easy to let go of. I also declined the Luxe Style as I thought the tires would be too clunky, and have since read complaints about the special road following headlights that come with that package.
I paid cash back in May, but if I had been offered 0%, as they are today, I would have taken the deal that way and left my cash in the back, whatever meager interest it might bring. I love this car! Just got back form a RT trip from LA to San Francisco in it and it performed so beautifully! I would take this over the sedan any day as it is more sporty, fun and you have the option of carrying more stuff as the back seats go down, etc.

When does will the '09 EX show up at dealers?
I will say I probably could have gotten a few more hundred off if I wanted to drive a little further. I had three dealers and a couple of them were almost pleading with me to "tell them what it would take" to buy the car. I felt I got a fair deal so I'm happy.
Now, this is what I was told in a five minute conversation in passing, take it for what it's worth.

Traded 2006 FX35 with 48,000 miles on it for $21,500. The KBB Excellent condition top dollar trade value on the FX35 was $21,850. They took $350 off that trade figure because it needed front tires soon.
In AZ we save sales tax on the entire trade in value, so I saved $1720 in sales tax by trading in. Only other cost was registration (plates). A whopping $600 here in AZ.
Interest rate is 4.99% for 60 months. They would have given me this rate up to 72 months at this rate, but I declined and kept it at 60.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the service I received. Really nice, non pushy salesman / sales manager...they stayed late to help me out. I feel I got a pretty good deal, and really that's what matters in the end.
I am curious about the interest rates in your market compared to Phoenix. I got 4.99% from Chase for 60 months, as I noted in my post a couple days ago. What interest rate did you get and how long was the term?
I just got mine here in Texas: 2008 EX35, Premium, Nav, Luxe, Tech, Splash, Rail, Cross Bar, Cargo Protector and tint with Graphite/Maple wood interior for a total of $36,350 before taxes.
I didn't got for the lease coz I'd have lost the incentives so, I traded in my old vehicle at $22,500 (no tax) and paid the rest $15,000 in-cash (taxed).
Mind you, the G37 blows it away when it comes to performance! I might very well trade this one in couple of years for it
I didn't go AWD coz it would add more weight (less power), reduces the turning circle and where I live (Texas), I don't to slid and slide
The Cons of this car are (sofar):
1- The sunroof would leak a bit if you take it to a touch-less car wash (direct water pressure)
2- Fuel Pump will need to be replaced if you hear a humming/groaning noise on startup from the right rear-passenger area (warranty)
3- Steering wheel might need centering and/or the car might pull (Bulletin ITB08-046) -- Wheels/Steering alignment
4- Lack of rear passengers space (personal issue)
5- Since it's Infiniti's first EX, it's bound to have issues but then, a good dealership(s) would be an asset to have.
I wish it was built the same way they build their G35-37s. Much better engine starts, power, breaking and attention.
The Pros:
1- Much more value for money if compared to other vehicles (BMW, Volvo, VW, Audi, Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Acura).

My wife has been driving my '06 S4 Avant while I take care of registering, inspecting, etc., her new EX. I realize this will sound like heresy, but at a sticker price of almost $20k less than what my S4 cost a few years ago - the EX is a much, much nicer vehicle in just about every respect. Sorry, but it's true. Looks like whoever leaves the house first in the morning is going to be taking the EX35 for at least the next few weeks!
If this thing holds up, it looks like I'm finally going to break that nasty German car habit I've had for the last decade or so.

BTW, I live in the Boston area and drove to LI to buy the car (ironically, the next town over from where I grew up) and got a stark reminder of how sleazy the stealerships are in the Greater NY area. Not that they're much better anywhere else, but these guys really take it to the PhD level. Would say my worst car buying experience ever - but I guess I shouldn't complain after the deal we got.
I'm not asking for what you got on the trade as that is your personal business. Just making sure we are all keeping the car dealers honest.
Did you trade in a vehicle or was it a straight deal?
We considered a used EX35 before we bought our new one last week, but there was only one in town and it did not have the interior color we were looking for. It was the Black exterior we wanted, but when the owner told me over the phone he took the car to the automatic car wash, I cringed. You can't take a black car through the car wash and expect it to maintain its original lustre.
I immediately put a coat of "Zaino" polish on the car the day after we bought it and it looks like a sheet of glass now. Absolutely flawless.
Will the dealer make a little money on my trade? Probably. Is it worth it to not have to deal with 1,2 and 3? I think so. I would have saved about $350 in taxes as well, but I won't get started on the joke of government and taxation system that is the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
As we all know, there are three main variables in the actual purchase cost of a vehicle (purchase price, trade-in allowance and cost of capital). At the end of the day, it comes down to how you did against what's out there. So....
We ended up financing the whole thing, and getting them to buy the rate down to 3.9% - on a $28,900 purchase price and $6,900 for the Toyo. The $27.9k price I mentioned earlier represented the price at a 5.5% rate (60 months), which is still better than we could get with excellent credit, and high balances at credit unions and my bank.
When I got home and looked through the paperwork, I found the dealer's "deal recap" sheet in the pile of papers, which the F&I guy mistakenly gave me to take notes (when it was turned over and he thought is was a blank sheet of paper). That's where I found the numbers showing their cost of $26.5k. Again, they made a little money - but I don't begrudge anyone making a profit, and somewhere in the 4-5% neighborhood is fine with me. I may drop the recap sheet on the fax machine adressed to the dealership owner next week to cause some grief for the F&I guy though, because he was a complete sc*mb*g - pardon my French.
Not many touchless car washes around here, but luckily one of the few in the state is about 10-15 minutes away. I'm wondering if the Scratch Guard clear makes regular car washes a tolerable (if still not ideal) option??
